Empire Online had a brief article with an interview with Producer Don Hahn of the recent "Waking Sleeping Beauty. In it he talked about "The Lion King" getting a 3D treatment, but the thing I was most excited about was the talk of a sequel to "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." I'd be excited about that one.

Here's the quote.

Just as excitingly, Don Hahn is involved in the long-awaited sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit. And while it’s all gone quiet in terms of news on Roger 2 — the last we heard was back in November, when it was announced the original’s writers were working on the script — the producer confirms, albeit coyly, that it is still very much happening. “Yeah, I couldn’t possibly comment. I deny completely, but yeah… if you’re a fan, pretty soon you’re going to be very, very, very happy.”

You can find the full story here.

Let's hope this also leads to other things like increased merchandise tie-ins and a return of the Roger walk-around character to the parks.

There is no real information there but IMDB is showing Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2 with the release year of 2012

I love Roger Rabbit. I heard an interview with Don Hahn discussing "Waking Sleeping Beauty" on another Disney Podcast (WDW Radio I think), and he was saying it was really Roger Rabbit that led to the resurgence of Disney Animation.

One thing about a sequel though, I doubt they would be able to have all the Warner Brothers cartoon characters alongside the Disney characters. That was something that really made that movie special. I love the Donald Duck/Daffy Duck piano duel.

I'd heard this rumor for a while now too, and when in Disneyland and had the wonderful opportunity to meet the amazing Statia Martin :worship: :worship:, I asked about it, and while she was Disney-coy, I was pretty happy with what she said :cloud9:

cheers,
:flower3:

Karen, when Tom and I were at the World of Color premiere Statia Martin was stationed in the press tent doing drawings for members of the media. I wanted to go over and talk with her because of what I had heard regarding your ABD trip. Alas, she was swamped with people the entire time.

I think this was brought up at Comic Con last year when Zemeckis was talking about A Christmas Carol.

Zemeckis started out by saying that he would neither confirm or deny the rumor. He went on to say something about if it were to happen it was stay 2D hand drawn animation.

Here is his answer at 3:37 into the youtube video from ComicCon 2009.

Dave, When I saw Waking Sleeping Beauty in Indy at last year's Heartland Film Festival, I was able to meet and talk with Don Haan. He is very cool, and I am very excited that he is involved in making Roger 2!

I agree with all the 2D fans. If they were to let's say...animate it similar to the new Smurfs movie (UGH!), I would be very disappointed.
