OK - so how do you know when Disney has created the account, and how will we know how to access our info on-line? We are sending in closing docs and the BIG check today - I am guessing 10-14 days before we can make our first ressie?

You will receive a package in the mail giving you your temporary log on ID and password. If you don't have this yet, then its very likely you aren't in the system yet. We were already members, so I was able to check my account for updates, but I noted the points were added to our account on a Monday and by Wednesday I had received a new welcome packet from Disney. Once your in the system, you can do whatever you need to with your points.

E-mail came with instructions for registering on the member website, 8 days after we closed. When I called to get the ID I needed to register, and got online, our points were already in the system. 2 days later, our planner arrived by priority mail. (That was a nice surprise!)

We closed the beginning of May and I still have never received anything from DVC in the mail. NADA! I even had one CM tell me he was immediately mailing out my members card since I scheduled a quick trip to Disneyland - but still haven't received that either. :rolleyes1 If I hadn't called I wouldn't even know I existed to them. When calling I just said we were new members and wanted to see if we were in the system yet. At 7 calendar days we were and it was another 2-3 days before the points were there. Once we were in the system I asked to received the ID to set up my log in for the member website. The first CM said I'd get it mailed to me (she had to put me on hold a couple of times to get questions answered so I think she was fairly new). I tried again with a different CM and was given it immediately, logged on and got to see my lovely points! :cool1:

I'm sorry to say that it may be longer. Has the seller completed their documents? The Escrow company still needs to finish with Disney and the Title Company needs to do a title search. After all that, Disney will take a couple of weeks to put you in their system as the new owner. Your Broker should notify you when all the above is completed. Contact them for a status report.

I think the poster has been thru the title search. If it follows our timeframe, from the day I sent in the check it was 14 days to be in the system. The sellers had to get their paperwork notarized so they were a few days behind us on the paperwork, but they were extremely responsive. If there is a place for a glitch here it is probably with the sellers returning their closing paperwork.

If I was a seller I would get my paper work in ASAP so I could get my check.

Me too!!!! On the waiting for ROFR thread though there was more than one account of sellers that took a week or more to return their paperwork. Crazy!!

I guess we were lucky with our add on as the seller got their paperwork back before I even got mine in. You could only hope that this is the norm and not the exception.

It all depends on how much lead time you have. The next time I buy resale I am going to give myself more time to work with.:donald:

I passed rofr in 5 business/7 calendar days. That was on April 28th- I have been waiting since then for my closing docs- it feels like FORVER! I am kind of hating the whole resale process- but I am sure once I have my points- I will have forgotten this painful experience- kind of like childbirth.

We signed our contract and faxed it into GMAC on April 29/08 they submitted to Disney on May 9/08 and we found out last Friday May 30/08 that Disney waived their rights. :lovestruc  :woohoo: :goodvibes

As for the rest of all the steps .......... :badpc:   all we can do is wait, but at least the WORST part is over.

Well I mailed in my check today to the closing service. Hopefully we will be in the Disney system soon.
:donald:

The process is complete for me! I was told DVC will be sending me an email by the end of the week with sign-on instructions! And if I don't receive an email I was told to call them. :mickeyjum

Congratulations Kimmy! I hope we are right behind you!
Thanks to all who have shared their experiences with ROFR, estoppel, etc. Knowing what to expect and when helps make this painful process a little easier! And I have to second the "lead time" comment - I thought putting an offer on a resale in April would give us plent of leeway for a fall trip, but now I am not so sure!

Lisa,

Congratulations! Your purchase of points with Disney Vacation Club has closed. For your information, it can take Disney up to 10 days after closing for them to recognize that you are the owner of your points

I recieved the closing papers last week and I Fed Ex'd the check Monday?

We mailed our check and paperwork on Tuesday. Does anyone know how much longer we should expect to wait??? :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

It takes about 10 days from the time your agent sends your paperwork to Disney to the time you are in Disney's system. If it makes you feel better, you can call member services and they will check for you. Their number is 1 800 800 9800. Once your in the system they can give you your dvcmember.com log in and passcode. You'll get your welcome packet in the mail a few days after your in the system.

My wife and I just made it through ROFR yesterday (June 5th) for a VWL contract. It was sent on May 11th.
