Echoing @Sandisw’s comments earlier, can we stop discussing the semantics of a recession in here? We all know the real indicator of the recession is the sparse ROFR submissions and most contracts getting waived this quarter.

Assuming/pretending the upcoming year will follow the standard trend: since resale prices tend to trend down at the end of the year for dues, when do you normally see resale prices start to pick up again? February after the direct prices increase or more like Spring?

Now this is my kinda contract! I like how it's Dec use year so plenty of time to use/rent/bank the 320. Does your $18848 include 2023 maint fee payment? I'm just thinking $105x160=$16800 and closing ~$600

Yes - it includes 2023 dues since I need to pay them at closing. It was a decent deal and with the double "free" points I am pleased. Now lets see if it passes. But I never get to upset if they don't. Figure I can give myself a pat on the back for negotiating a great deal lol There is always another contract to be bought, just need a little patience...

Yup, kind of makes me wish I would have held out for lower on the first two, but we want to go back at the end of August 2023 and I need the points loaded in time to get our desired dates.

Goal is to book an Ocean View Grand Villa and bring my MIL & FIL with us. My FIL is in his 70s and afraid of flying. Hasn’t been to HI since he was stationed there in the Navy. We showed my MIL a YouTube video of the OV GV and she gave my FIL a wistful look that melted him on the spot. When I explained we would use points and that they would only need to pay for their airfare and meals he asked for two aloha shirts as a Christmas present.

If I can pull this off, and he doesn’t back out, then the memories should last my wife and kids a lifetime. Happy wife, happy life.

Also, my Mom has never visited HI. So she and my aunt would be next up for a GV OV in 2025.

The break even starts to hit pretty quick when you are staying in the larger accommodations.

Amazing deal and story. Congratulations on a sweet deal. I wish I had waited to buy my Aulani subsidized. At these prices, buying non-subsidized is very tempting. I think you'll feel your "break even" point during your first stay!

Apparently the original paperwork didn’t have the full contract number and so ROFR sent it back for us to correct. At that point we had to get back in the que.
