4.08 average increase in last 5 years. 4.10 over 10. Among the most stable. But serious dough

And theoretically the contract is now shedding almost 6% in value a year annually at the current buy in price.

Though the resale market poorly prices in length of contract premiums very well, so it will be hard to say when that’s fully realized and if there’s still an opportunity to get ahead of that.

The value in a 2042 resort is mostly in the hedge against rental prices as well as a massive convenience and guarantee factor for the favourable ones.

Still cheaper than paying to stay on the hotel side. Which was our alternative. I mean, the contract is intended to be used up; why worry about its future value on these shorter contracts you almost certainly will use fully until expiry? Especially at the lower buy in prices.

It is popular around here to say it doesn’t make sense to buy (BCV in particular) because you can just rent points for the rest of the contract…but as someone who has tried and failed, it’s actually even more difficult to rent points for use at BCV than it is to use SAP at 7mo. Also, I now book my BCV holiday stay 11m out, and I can decide up until 31 days out if I actually want to stay all 6 days, maybe split elsewhere (with non-BCV points and bank some BCV) etc.

In any event, I am skeptical you’ll still be able to rent BCV or BWV anywhere close to $20/pt in 10 years. The fixed low point charts will make them more valuable. It’s already strange to me that you can rent them for an amount comparable to VGF/RIV/PVB (I understand why PVB could be more this year, but not normally).

That site is incredibly useful! And to your point, it's been a while since ROFR has been taken but it sure looks like a low $100s offer pp might skate through... hmm.....

I cant imagine a BCV owner selling for $100pp…. but there are some VERY large contracts out there and they have to do something to move those points….
I got a BCV 150 pointer for $105 in December...it's very doable. Had issues with sellers and broker but it worked out for me in the end and net cost was even lower. I never put it on this thread though because of the problems. GL!

I thought she was vegan in Arizona. Thanks to a few for expanding my Horizons. I miss that ride used be my favorite.
hahaha glad someone knew where I was going with it.
You can always change your photo to a Mickey head made of vegetables, let people really see your love for veggies, that would be kind of cute actually…or just let the dirty minds of people win, that’s certainly more fun 😏
Great idea. I found this weird lettuce mickey head I will use. It's odd lookin but I'll keep it since evidently its an actual Disney pin made years ago.

This raises an interesting question for me: How frequently is point rental cost evaluated/changed across the community? I would think that the rental brokers/go betweens typically set the rate and so it can vary somewhat between years? The price point for rental points/reservations should change somewhat based on dues/fees, inflation and supply/demand I would think.

It point rental cost seems to have increased with the brokers this year. Has gone up to $25pp from $23 last year. It is also pretty fluid on the private rental sites… for in demand resorts such as BCV / BWV / Poly it’s is the same price as the brokers charge (or more).

It’s already pretty impossible to rent BCV or BWV for $20. Generally private renters charge $23-$25 for these (but the trend seems to be $30 for BWV standard view during the low points dates).

For that reason the math still works on buying BCV as compared to cash rates and points rental.

Hahah your tag, too! Poor @veginaz, working hard to keep DIS minds out of the gutter. As a pin lover, I think your pic is great!

It is interesting the brokers are charging renters more but not paying the owners more. Makes me not want to use them.

I love your new avatar! Especially the ear post!

And I guess I really am old (meaning naive), because I didn’t see anything but a strange username until someone pointed out that it might be a sneaky one.

That can’t last long. lol
Unless they’re planning on just splitting the increase?

Oh wow, I honestly think that JUST changed. I’d expect the owners prices to start to follow suite. They were previously charging a 5$ markup on extremely desperate to rent points that were distressed. I doubt the plan is to suddenly make 7$ off owners of premium resorts, especially when the brokers are desperate to find more owners.

I’d expect based on their new pricing tiers the owner rates will increase to 18/20/22$ per point.

Anyways all that said ironically this makes BCV more valuable than it was again in my eyes yesterday. 😂

That bakes back in a significant discount of 9$pp or so to buy (currently roughly 16$pp at BCV) compared to 25$ to rent (which you can barely do anyways).

They still only pay $18/$16 to owners unfortunately! But I suspect unless they increase this they won’t have many owners left renting points with them!
