There seems to be no pattern of why/how Disney chooses to take back! It's like they spin a wheel to pick!!
I think you're onto something... But do you think they're capable of applying this to every contract that runs across their desk? If they could... Oh please, please, Puh-Leeze run my Magic band activity!!!I honestly think they run predictions based on who is trying to buy points from disney vs the resale buyer and which scenario would add more revenue to disney. They spent a billion dollars on magic pass and their backend systems not to improve ride wait times, but to make very accurate predictions about how to maximize revenues and profits. I find it hard to believe that Disney would leave something like this up to the random whims of some low level employee.
All big corporations are collecting data like this, and there is a burgeoning field known as "big data"...if I had a college age child I would encourage them to look into this as a career as it is a field that will rapidly grow, as it will allow corporations to make eerily accurate predictions about the future.
I have wondered about that kind of stuff too! We've had annual passes to disneyland for 8 years or so. When I called to book aulani direct they answered the phone with all my info... They could tell from the number I called from (I assume, maybe the mouse has a mousehole in my wall or something) my name, address, who lives in my house etc... It was insane.I think your onto something... But do you think they're capable of applying this to every contract that runs across their desk? If they could... Funny how they have all your info saved (and mine, too)... Forget Big Brother! The Mouse has his eye on everyone!! He knows what we eat, what we drink, where we spend our $ and don't... So, let's see what develops over the next few weeks.I have wondered about that kind of stuff too! We've had annual passes to disneyland for 8 years or so. I'm really hoping and fairly convinced they will look at how much I spend at Disneyland and figure either locking me into a lifetime of disney spend is worth the 50k they miss out on a direct sale and approve us.
Or they might believe they will get me to buy full price (which would be incorrect) later on anyway and deny us. I guess I should find out in another week or two

I wonder about that, when they sell a contract they give previous year plus current year points. Does that hold true for the sales of old resorts? If So they should have no interest in most contacts that don't come fully loaded unless they plan to hold them for a year or two while the points reset since they can't create points.Absolutely they can, it only takes a computer a couple minutes if that to bring up the data. I would assume that if they can't find data on the buyer they have some sort of average revenue calculated for resale buyers as a whole. With the number of data points they probably collect the predictions will be very accurate. The 30 days that they wait is to see if a better buyer comes across their desk...thats why a lot of contracts get taken early but they almost never pass until the last few days. This is all an assumption on my part, but how I would do things if I were in charge and with modern computers and data collection it is absolutely within the realm of possibility.
The whole process may seem random, but I am sure there is some sort of calculation at play.
We just signed a contract on 4/7. I have a question for you all...based on the timeframe to actually transfer membership, how likely is it we can book before the points expire? We'll be getting 100 points that expire on 9/1. Closing is suppose to be on or around June 1...
Hmmm thanks for the input, I am expected to pay for those costs. I wonder if I should back out of the offer over this, the contract says I can do that within 10 days without penalty. I am OK with slim pickings, as long as we can find a Deluxe studio somewhere...dont really care where. Not for this trip at least...There will li
You would probably close sometime in June. It will be slim pickings in terms of rooms. I would not pay the maintenance costs for those 100 points that are expiring 9/1.
