Rode Suess Trolley train - thumbs down!

The ride is cute enough I guess, but it seemed awfully short (you don't get to ride the full track - only half. Each side where you load is a different track.)

The problem is that we waited in line for 49 minutes.

Let me put this in very real terms. At Magic Kingdom at Disney, I love the People Mover/TTA. It is relaxing, it is adequate ride time (Im guessing between 7-10 minutes??) And it NEVER has a line, even on the busiest summer or holiday peak day, it doesn't have a long wait, if any.

The Suess Ride is very similar to TTA in terms of speed and being in the air, except the ride is not nearly as long - instead, the line is super long.

What made the long line extra annoying is that they clearly could run more trains on their track. A train would leave the station and another car wouldnt arrive on that line for a minute or 2 - and by arrive, I mean at the unload station - then it would slowly advance to the load station. In terms of other rides, frequent visitors may realize how annoying it would be to learn that the Hulk is only running 1 or 2 trains instead of the 3 or 4 it can handle. The result is that the line is unnecessarily long because they are not maximizing their capacity. Another person in line asked a worker if they were running all the trains, and she said yes. They run 4 trains, which equates to 2 for each side (even though it is one track - essentially, you ride half the ride, arrive at the station on the opposite side and must get off).

Bottom line, the capacity on this attraction is very very low (each train holds 20 people max but more like 15-16 when parties of 3 are involved). To make it worse, people who purchase Universal Express or get it with their hotel stay skip right past you.

Lastly, a super annoying worker at the attraction insisted that everyone yell "choo-choo" when their "train" arrived. It wasnt cute or fun, it was incredibly annoying. I think this worker drank from the same caffeine drink that Richard Simmons drinks from :-)

Final review - fun enough ride if there is no line, but waiting for nearly an hour, i felt like it was an hour of my life I wish I could have back, lol. I would only do the ride again if the line was under 5 minutes. It was very underwhelming.

Reality is that People Mover/TTA at Magic Kingdom is a very old "ride". There is not much to it even though it is one of my favorite things to do because it is relaxing and quiet and yes, there is no line. It is hard to compare this with a brand new ride at Universal. There is more theming and it is new. It is in the kids section of IOA, so of course, everyone will want to ride it and there will be a long line.

I'm sure overall, it is the same sort of ride, but hard to compare popularity and demand due to newness, theming and where it is located. Maybe after it has been around for 25 years and better stuff is created, the Suess ride will become a People Mover of the future and have less line.

I have never seen the appeal of the TTA at MK, at least the new Suess ride has some theming - however, I am not sure if I would wait that long to go on it.

The ride systems are different, TTA moves constantly without stopping, unlike the Seuss Trolley, and since TTA has a longer track, it can accomidate more people. I haven't been on the Suess Trolley yet, but I'd probably agree that more than 1 to 2 trains would be better.

You may complain that the team member was being annoying, but at least they were having fun and getting into their job, thats what its all about.

And of course there will be a line, the attraction just officially opened.

I do agree about capacity issues and think they could put two more trains on the track.

Why anyone would get in line for a BRAND NEW kiddie ride and then complain about the wait time and how underwhelming & annoying the experience was from an adult's perspective is beyond me. And then to compare it to an OLD ride that hasn't pulled in crowds for years...

Common sense has left the building.

I agree with the other posts. I love the TTA, but it's 25 years old and doesn't do much. There's no theming or story line, it just brings you around tomorrowland. And, like others have said, the TTA has a long track and is continuously loading, so it can handle more people. This is a brand new attraction, for kids at that, so of course the line is going to be long. Don't even get me started on when we waited an hour to get on Winnie the Pooh for a 3-minute ride with a couple of cut-out trees.

I'm not trying to be a pain or anything, but Universal really can't win. The employees get into the fun and try to keep things lively, and they're annoying. They just load and unload the rides, and they're "missing the Disney magic". What can ya do.

Ok, first off, my post wasn't a slam against Universal (I am a very satisfied annual passholder), more a warning for anyone who goes there and says "oh its only a 30 minute wait!" I am not sure why my desire to warn people about my bad experience has equated me to being a mean Universal basher who has no common sense, lol. Yes, i understand its a new ride, and a kiddie ride at that.

As to TTA's popularity, Id imagine 2-3 times as many guests ride TTA on an average day as rode Suess Train - capacity, capacity capacity. Thats what my original post was saying - it is annoying when a ride has a super long line BECAUSE its capacity is not nearly maximized. I agree about pooh, I refuse to ride it if the line is long. my otehr comparison to TTA was in terms of ride style. I dont think anywhere in my post I hinted that TTA was fresh or well-themed.

As for the worker, i was not faulting his enthusiasm per se, though he was completely overboard (not sure why anyone would assume I have no common sense and am mean for saying he was annoying. Surely you have met annoying people before? It is possible for people to be annoying, and this guy was.) Let me fully explain. Once you arrive at the load station, they load it 2-3 rides deep. in other words, each row holds 2 people, but they load behind the gates up to 6 people (as if you need to be in the row early because the trains load fast or something). In other words, once you are up on the load station, you still have 5-10 minutes before actually boarding - think Dueling Dragons here. Meanwhile, said cast member tells the people in front of you in full out voice "when the train arrives, I want a big choo-choo!!!!" (his explanantion was much longer and spirited). Then, he tells rows 3-4 the same thing, as if they didnt hear him tell rows 1-2, which are right by them. Then down to rows 5-6, and 7-8, and 9-10. We in row 1 could hear his explanation to row 10 quite easily. Each time, rows 9 and 10 stopped him and said "yeah, we heard already - choo choo". I guess I should have clarified that before boarding, I heard the instructions to choo-choo no less than 15 times. It reminded me of Snow White or Mr. Toad's, where the whole time you are in line you hear the exit instructions "please step out to your left...step out to your left please...when the car stops, step out to your left." Only this time, it was a live person being this repetitive.

I NEVER said you don't have common sense! Not once in my short paragraph did I say you didn't have common sense, nor did I even mention you. I wasn't speaking to you personally, I was speaking in general. I didn't say you were bashing Universal, and I could care less if you were. I was making an observation about what different people say about the parks. Sorry you chose to take it the wrong way :confused3

The instructions were for the children. When they are excited, they do not always pay attention to someone when they speak. This would explain walking down the line and repeating the instructions.

Well we haven't rode it yet, but I plan to try it tomorrow at park opening. We were there yesterday but we didn't get there at opening due to my son's sudden need to see a doctor.

That was the only ride in Suess Landing we didn't do. I refuse to wait more than 20 minutes for anything (being there at park opening has spoiled me) and that ride had 45 minute plus wait times all day yesterday. We did have 20 min. or less waits for Cat in the Hat, One fish Two Fish, Carro-suessel, Storm Acceletron, and Spiderman (but only b/c I went during a torrential rain for this one...everyone was in the restaurants and shops trying to wait it out).

Our first time at IOA and we LOVE Suess Landing!!

My apologies, meant to quote the post above yours, which indicated I did not have common sense.

The kids and I rode it last week, the day before the official opening and were disappointed. It was OK but not as good as I thought it would be. We only rode one side though because the line was really long. I thought the whole "choo choo" part was cute.

It is a great place to chill. I rode it once with my daughter 10 times in a row. She loved it. We memorized the patter that goes with it like "Mr. Tom Morrow" and at the beginning of the ride we had a blast with newbies by sticking our hands in the air like the thing was going to launch like the Hulk.

I for one am glad you shared this info. :thumbsup2
We will be spending two days at US & IOA in Oct., because we have never been before knowing things like this is priceless. If the wait is a short one we will go on, and if not we will wait and see if we have time for it. We love the TTA and were looking forward to trying this, but now I will not make it a must do ride. Thanks, Melissa

We rode it Tues afternoon during one of the soft openings.
They werestill working a lot of the bugs out. Ourestimated 30 min riide turned into an hour due to the ride stopping several times. we saw 3 workers go out on a train at one point. we they came back the ride began loading again.
We rode the track that loads on the left first. I believe that is my favorite side.
We returned about 30 min later to a 30 min wait. this time we only waited about 20-25 min. They added another train while we were in line. We requested to right side and were able to ride it. This was DD's fav side since it goes through circus Mcgurcus (spelling). We both really enjoyed the ride. I did notice they seemed to have problems with the restraint system. Several times they had to reset the restrains because they would tighten up. This took a lot of extra time since someone had to go to the back of each car and release the restraints manually using a long pole on a pedal on theback of each car.

I see that you're a relatively new forum member, so first--Welcome! As you are new, you should know that those of us who are regulars on the Universal side have been going through a period where it seems that lots of Disney-only fans have been coming over here to bash anything and everything Universal. I guess you could say that our defenses have been on high alert lately. :teeth:

I haven't ridden the Seuss Trolley yet, but when we do, it'll be close to first thing in the a.m. Well, right after I get my Hulk fix!
