***ROCKSTAR: Supernova*** (spoilers welcome)

Patrice - Helter Skelter. I thought she was really good. You could tell she was really comfortable singing this song.

Josh - Come As You Are. Well bonus points for toning down the Stevie Wonder impression but I thought this was bad. I agreed with the coffee house comparison the guys made. Plus smiling during a Nirvana song is just weird

Storm - Just What I Needed. Much better than last week. The eye thing still was a bit weird though. Excellent vocals and stage presence.

Lukas - Let’s Spend the Night Together. He's very creepy looking and kind of weirds me out but he has a great voice and really commands the stage.

Jill - All Right Now. I'm not a fan of her voice because I think she screams too much and over sings but this was a million times better than her other performances. Now I can almost see why they picked her.

Ryan - Fortunate Son . horrible. just plain bad. He screeched instead of singing and I couldn't make out any of the words. Fortunately I know the song by heart or I would have no idea what he was singing

Phil - White Rabbit. I told Dh that all that was missing was some acid :rotfl2: I thought he did a good job aside from some pitch problems. Awkward stage presence in the beginning but I would have been scared pee-less if Jason came up to play with me after being so critical.

Dana - It’s My Life. Ok the girl can sing but she cannot rock. she should have tried out for American Idol instead - she'd have a chance of winning that.

Toby - Runaway Train. I didn't like this performance and I'm not sure why. Something was just off about it. I think he picked the wrong key to sing in because his voice cracked a few times.

Magni - Plush. A little lacking in the making the song your own dept but a really good performance. Incredible stage presence.

Zayra - Everybody Hurts. Good enough to keep her out of the bottom 3 I think but I think this really proved she's not right for Supernova.

Jenny - Drive. She needs to get out of the coffee house mode and start rocking. It's not Jewel looking for someone, it's freaking Tommy Lee!

Dilana - Zombie. wow. Best performance of the night.

I can't believe the band liked Zayra's performance. She ruined the best parts of that song.

I was also kind of let down by Dilana, but it was still better than some others.

My favorite female performance of the night was Jill who I thought nailed the song and had great stage presence as well.

But the best performance of the night IMO was Phil who looked like he had been playing with Jason before and really looked like frontman material.

I still think they will pick one of the women.

I've had to avoid this thread until I watched the show!

Anyway, I think all of the performers stepped it up a notch. My favorites were:

Dilana -- naturally. Unless the band, for whatever reason, decides they don't want a woman leading them, I think she's got the gig.

Jill -- she's a powerhouse. She rocked that song, and I found myself rocking along with her.

Phil -- hasn't been one of my favorites, but tonight I was hooked!

My bottom three:

Zayra -- she's got to go. I actually like her style and love her voice, but not for a rock band.

Dana -- I agree with Crankyshank. This girl belongs on Idol.

Josh -- just don't care for him. He doesn't have the rock vibe, at least not that I've seen yet.

DH watched with me last night and when Josh was up DH said ,"he sounds just like Kermit or Pee Wee Herman." I laughed and agreed - I knew I didn't like his voice, and thanks to DH I now know why.

Also, I think Jenny looks like that waitress Jolene from the last couple of years of the show "Alice." She'll be gone soon. And Ryan will be too. He looks so uncomfortable up on stage.

Dilana is something else isn't she? I still like Storm and Toby but it's going to be hard to beat Dilana performance wise.

I think the final two will be Dilana and Lukas but if Dilana has 1 downfall it is the range of her voice - she seems to only be able to sing in that low range or that's all I've heard from her so far.

My favorite is Lukas - I think he showed EVERYONE last night that it doesn't matter what song he gets (he took the last song left because it didn't matter to him) he will make that song his own and own that stage. :thumbsup2

He has such a powerful stage presence.

Watch out guys, we haven't even seen the best of Lukas yet - he has quite the vocal range that he hasn't yet showed us.

Didn't anybody watch tonight? :confused3 I missed all but the last 15 minutes but still wanted a recap.

Magni got the encore. Jenny, Dana, Josh, Ryan, and Zayra had all been in the bottom 3 at some point during the night, But Jenny, Dana, and Josh were bottom 3. Jenny rocked out more than usual, but she did too much jumping for me. Dana did a great job, at least in my opinion. And Josh did pretty good too. There was also some conflict between Dana and Ryan because he said she didn't belong on this show.

I watched and felt the right one went home tonight........

They all need to be "bringing in on" as of now though, they've been warned by the judges/band just what they are looking for, so everyone needs to bring their "A" game to the stage next week :cool1:

Which songs did the bottom 3 pick to perform?

If they voting results are not just some ploy I'm having a real hard time getting what people see in Zayra.

All three performances last night were good IMO but I do believe they picked the weakest. Sounded like Jenny was running out of gas and losing her voice at the end of the STP song. If they are really looking for quality that is the last thing they can have.

I agreed with the bottom 3 choices but once again why on earth is Josh grinning during a Nirvana song? It just looks weird.

I agree Jenny was the right choice to go. Losing her voice towards the end of Vasoline was pretty much the ultimate indication that she cannot provide the hard intensity Supernova requires and needs to stick to folky venues and coffee houses.

Dana definitely brought it up a notch last night. I think performing a lesser known song helped her out quite a bit but she's still way too american idoly and is way out of her league.

Week 4 - Song Choices:

Lukas – Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve) :thumbsup2
Zayra – Call Me (Blondie)
Dana – About a Girl (Nirvana)
Patrice – Remedy (The Black Crowes)
Toby – White Wedding (Billy Idol)
Magni – Heroes (David Bowie)
Ryan – I Alone (Live)
Jill – Brown Sugar (The Rolling Stones) - with Gilby on guitar
Phil – One Headlight (The Wallflowers)
Dilana – Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper)
Josh – No Rain (Blind Melon)
Storm – Anything Anything (Dramarama)

I can't wait to see Toby do White Wedding so he can "rock the crap out of it." :teeth: The more I see of him, the more I love him. :lovestruc

Zoinks. Anything Anything is one of my obscure favorites - all angst-ridden and emotionally raw. Hope Storm doesn't "cutesy" it up too much.

I don't know the song, but I think Storm can sing up a ... well, she can sing up a storm. :rotfl2: I think she can do any song justice. :thumbsup2

just based on the song choices, I've got a feeling Josh is going to be going tonight if he gets in the bottom three because he once again picked a coffee house song.

and enough with the Nirvana songs please! I love Nirvana, don't get me wrong, but a bit more variety would be very nice.
