Rockin Roller Coaster

I used to ride all kinds of coasters until after my first DD was born. I rode the Shock Wave at Six Flags Over Texas and got off feeling woozy and I haven't tried anything with loops since then. Heck, now I get dizzy if I lean too far back in my chair:lmao:

It's a natural survival thing. Once you're a mommy, your body kicks into "no weird attitude" mode to keep you alive long enough to raise the youngling.

The harness system on RnR is quite secure. The only thing I don't like about the coaster is that it ruins you for other coasters. Now I think every roller coaster needs a soundtrack.

One other thing about it that's not related to the original question is that it can accommodate guests who are of a larger size. We took BIL and MIL on a trip to WDW and he's a rather large guy. We asked to see the test car, and they took us down a hallway where he could try out the seat in private. That was appreciated. The seat came far enough down that it latched, and BIL could ride the ride. And quite enjoyed it.

If you like Aerosmith you will enjoy the queue pre-show and will enjoy having their music blasting in your ears during the ride.

If you're not so much on the Aerosmith, it'll likely be meh.

It's a very short, very dark roller coaster ride. Pretty smooth as coasters go. Hard to be too scared by it because you can't really see anything.

Don't wait a long time unless you're a big Aerosmith fan.

Aerosmith blaring in your ears, very short ride, you go so fast that you hardly move when you go upside down. I love the ride. FYI: if you want to sit in the front, just ask. We have never been turned down even when they are very busy.

RnRC scares the bejeezus out of me (only been on it once in 2009)......... :scared1:

But, I LOVE LOVE LOVE California Screamin' at DCA. They have the same "launch" start, both go upside down, both have loud music in the speakers next to your head.

I think the difference is that (unlike others) I LIKE being able to see where I am going when I'm on a roller coaster.

I *may* try to get up the nerve to try RnRC again in November. Key word is might[/I]. :)

I am not a roller coaster lover at all, but RNR is my favorite ride. Being inside with the music blaring....and such a smooth track is awesome. LOVE it. My oldest son was 7 on our last trip and he rode it for the first time with me and then again with my dh. When we got off the ride the first time, he asked me if it ever went upside down. It's that smooth.

Rock 'n' Rollercoaster is one of my all time favorites. It is sooo smooth, that it's a great thrill ride without adding the sick-making elements. You launch at a wonderfully fast speed that almost makes you unaware that there are any inversions. With Aerosmith singing in your ears, it's just a culmination of rock and speed that is absolutely exhilarating. Don't miss it!!

This is a great coaster...very smooth...and the soundtrack! My Mom rode it well into her 70's! This is a bit odd, but I do want to warn people...for some reason...the back of my earrings seem to want to come off (this has happened at least 3 times) ...I was fortunate to not have actually lost the earring, but I was lucky. I got to the point where I checked immediatly after the ride. I now take earrings off for the ride, or wear ones that I don't mind losing.

I'm a "mature" 53 and I just rode RNC last week! I've always loved roller coasters and I especially love the launch on this ride - the Aerosmith music is a huge bonus. One tip - the trip before this we ended up very near the end of the limo and had the most jerky/rough ride ever. Maybe it's because I'm older, but after that experience, I'll wait to ride nearer the front. This last time we were in the front seat and loved it! (As someone else said, all you have to do is ask and you can ride in front.) You will very secure in your seat - give it at least one try!

I find I'm getting motion sickness as I get further into my forties, but I still have to ride ToT and RnRC - my only tip is to absolutely keep your head back against the seat for the ride, not just to enjoy the music but to keep your head from being bounced between the shoulder harness - my height seems to box my ears back and forth if I lean the slightest bit forward, but I enjoy it just fine if I keep my head back against the seat. And I used to dread the launch at the beginning, but now it's my favourite part - if you scream and laugh instead of tensing and closing your eyes, it's much more enjoyable!
Enjoy your first ride, and your second!

It's funny - I went with two "roller coaster chickens" a couple of years ago. They finally got up their nerve to ride RnR. One of them, to this day, swears she didn't go upside down! It's that smooth of a ride. I love it.

If they were as chicken as me, they probably rode with their eyes closed. That's what I did and I couldn't have told you that it went upside down at all. It felt like it took off, went very fast, and came to the end. :lmao: I opened my eyes one time and ds said "corkscrew ahead" (reading a sign) and I closed them again. :rotfl:

Oh, and I had to remind myself to breath again after the takeoff.

I was glad I rode it, but it probably will be the one and only time.

I'm a recovering ride chicken and I adore this ride. I don't think the launch is bad at all, actually, that's oneof my favorite parts of the ride.

I hate huge drops but I like fast..

I only wish there was a lap belt AND shoulder bar. I'm very anxious about mishaps especially going upside down. I know that mishaps are extremely rare but I'm still weighing the risk in my head. Incidents on an upside down coaster, however rare, would be the worst kind. Thanks everyone. I really don't want to be a chicken but this seems like the scariest ride at the park! EEK.:confused3

YES!! This is my favorite part!!

I love the ride, but I (A roller coaster junkie) honestly find the ride a little lack-luster for my tastes, but it is fun!!

It deff is NOT the scariest ride!! I think ToT far outweigh's the *scare* factor!!

You are safe, the harness is extremely secure.

Definitely keep your head back for the launch. That is a must.

My Mom rode with me in Jan. 2010 after just turning 60. She loves it too.

The soundtrack ended during one of my rides last time, and it totally bummed me out. It's NOT the same without the music.

I cannot wait to ride it again in 4 months!

It's as thrilling a thrill ride as Disney has, but it is not a state-of-the-art, top-of-the-line rollercoaster.

It takes off fast, has a loop or two and does some of those almost-sideways things.

It's not the ride for people who don't like coasters, those who are afraid of being upside-down or people who don't like to "go fast."

But it is fun enough and the best Disney has.

I haven't read all the posts, so this may have been mentioned, but you can look up "rock 'n' roller coaster" on youtube and find POV videos. You won't really get to see the loops or anything, but you'll get an idea how dark it is. The videos make it look darker than it really is too, so keep that in mind. There are also some videos that show it with the lights on so you can really see what it looks like. HTH!

Fast and much smoother than Space Mountain. Sit towards the front for a smoother ride. Toward the back can be a little rougher on your head.

1) The shoulder harness is VERY secure (I am paranoid and always imagine the worst, too)

2) I believe the centrifigal force holds you in while upside down

It is scary, in a good way. Wish I could go on it with you!

Just the opposite, IMO! Hate, hate, hate "rollercoasters", hate being upside down even more. ONLY on RnR, do I suspend that feeling. Somehow, it is different.

As you said, this isn't for the true coaster junkies.
