Rock n Rollercoaster in the wake of the possible change to Disney's Hollywood Adventure.

In light of the rumoured theme park name change of Disney's Hollywood STudios to Disney’s Hollywood Adventure, I started thinking about wether a possible rebranding of the Rock n Rollercoaster could/should be done, to bring the attraction closer to the park’s new overall theme.

Personally, I love the attraction as it is …and in its self-contained environment, it’s a solid attraction that hits all the right points in story and attraction mechanics.

But...fast forward to Disney’s Hollywood Adventure…and the whole music adventure sort of feels out of place for the theme of guests being immersed in the movies.

Here’s my idea for the rebranded attraction:
Big Hero 6: Escape through San Fransokyo.

The story could go like this:

You are on a guided tour through the university where Hiro and his friends attend, and during the tour, the school is being attacked by a new Yokai (an unknown individual who has managed to steal the nanobot tech from Hiro and the previous Yokai...Professor Callaghan). Gogo, tells the audience that she has been working on a new ultrafast transportation system for the city…though it’s still in the prototype phase…it’s still the best and fastest way to get out of danger at the moment. You are quickly (but safely) ushered into the loading room, where the prototype trains, are deployed. The trains shoot out, and you manage to travel through the city as Yokai and the Big Hero 6 team do battle. At the end, you make it to the “San Fransoyoko central transportation center” where you see news vids of Big Hero 6 managing to heroically capture and contain the villainous Yokai.

Some attraction details.

· The video room shows how the story unfolds. The floors, could now have “rumbling” effects as the villain starts to attack the University.

· In the queue towards the trains, you could have rumblings sounding out, as well a “crumbling dust effects”

· New lighting/holographic effects would outline the interior of the ride, showing vids of the battle between the team and Yokai. I’d leave it to Imagineering to figure out how to give guests good views of that battle, despite the speed and thrill of the attraction. But, if anyone can figure that out, it would be the imagineers.

· Unsure if the attraction would take place in a nighttime setting (to go with the dark), or if they could possibly set it in a daytime setting (complete with a grand animated environment, featuring the sky of the city, buildings, etc)

· The sound system could be used to add sound effects of that battle adding to the immersion factor.

· Of course the central station has a “gift shop” that would sell Big hero 6 merchandise, and possibly have a Hiro/baymax meet and greet nearby.

What do you guys think?

What would you possibly add/take away from my idea?

What would your idea be?

As far as I know the attraction is staying as is at least for now. They need to leave these big headliners open while the park is getting its major work done.

Oh...for sure they're going to keep it as is...and there is no way that any re-branding would be done, until a major part of the expansions are done and "in play". I'm just wondering when all these expansions/additions comes to pass...let's say by the end of 2025 (LOL!!) would/should they change RnR to fit better into the park?

Actually we are probably looking at 2021-22 for park rebranding to be done.

Wow...that long huh (just for a name change...oh well)? If that's how long it might take before Disney even considers a rebranding of the park and any attractions, I wonder how relevant BH6 might be at that time. Maybe a sequel would have hit the screens by then. :)

No 2021-22 completion. Construction on toy story is supposed to start before the end of the year.

Well, if a full re-theming of the ride is not in the plans, they should at least upgrade it. I always thought the Paris version looked much cooler compared to the flat cardboard signs. Though I would love a whole different concept. I love BH6, and regardless of the theming of RnRC, I really hope they keep some of Walt Disney Animation Studios in DHS. Keep the classics at MK and add the new stuff in there.

I would guess they won't do the name change until Toy Story Land is open at the earliest, and maybe not until Star Wars is there. Doesn't really make sense to.

A good idea - but I don't think it's going to happen. More specifically, I don't see them changing RnRC one bit.

My theory is while DHS will have several themed lands revolving around specific movie franchises (the first two being Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land) the bulk of the park that will be remaining unchanged, the front portion, will be something like "Hollywood Land" and be themed to "An idealize version of Hollywood as seen through the eyes of the dreamers that started it". With this, much of the theming would remain identical to how it is. Theater of the Stars, Hollywood Tower Hotel (ToT), and G-Force Studios (RnRC) would all fit within that overall theme. Also Brown Derby Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset, as well as the GMR would also all stay under that theme. Then the specific other themed "lands" would branch out from "Hollywood Land".

If "Hollywood Land" does stay as-is, I suppose it's not too far of a stretch have G-Force records as part of that Idealized Hollywood. It would certainly be cheaper to keep things as-is, and as I said before....RnR is great as it is.

What would suck, is if they chose to strip down the attraction, to change the theme to one closer to movie immersion but barely did anything to the effects. Like what if they just started calling it "Race to the Cinema" and then the story would be that you have to get to theatre in time to catch your movie. They could just gut the video out, strip out the music, and keep the interior effects as-is (you ARE high-tailing it through the city to get to the theatre...remember? LOL). Ugh!!!

I think at some point they will re-theme the ride but I don't see it happening for a while. When it does happen I wonder if it will be an updated band or a complete change in theme. It would be easier to keep the theme the same and change out the band but, for the love of the deity of you choice, don't replace Aerosmith with one of the Disney tween music groups.

Well, some rumors say they are re-theming Paris's and building a Marvel version in Anaheim. Perhaps they are no longer interested in Aerosmith hosting the ride and they'll do something with Orlando's as well.

The marvel ride rumors in DCA have changed a bit. The last miceage update said it wasn't necessarily a RnRc clone.

Here's my theory:

Rockinroller coaster isn't going to be touched for a very long time...except maybe dropping Aerosmith.

It was fairly cheap, it was easy, it's till a draw that handles capacity.

And why are we back on this marvel ride in Disney world thing again?

They're collecting fees from competitors, they don't want to cross promote them, they're gonna be fine with just giftshops.

Off the table until Comcast breaks the contract.

Big Hero 6: Escape through San Fransokyo.

You had me at THIS. :thumbsup2

I won't ride RnRC because "upside down in the dark" is beyond my scare tolerance. But a BH6 theme would really make me want to get up the nerve to try it.

I will say, I don't think RnRC will be rethemed, now or later, and I think the theme fits with the Hollywood theme (the LA entertainment industry is more than just movies).

I really like your attraction idea, though!

I see. With another launch coasters in the same park they may want to do something different.

No, I know it's not happening, but since they are supposedly re-theming Paris' RnRc and they were working on a Marvel version for California, they might as well re-theme Orlando's version to something else. But then again, perhaps the Aerosmith theme could work as a DHS only ride.

I have an idea, leave it alone.

I wouldn't mind at all, if RnRC stays the same, but then that poses another question for me. How long can Aerosmith remain the ride's central focus? There could come a time...long from now...where kids might start saying: Aerosmith? It's a band that really existed? *Kind of what some kids say, being surprised that Titanic was actually based on true events. Still...even if Aerosmith starts be thought of, as some fictitious band, made up for the attraction, RnRC still works.

A marvel rebrand would be nice, and i'm sure that by the time any possible rebrand could be looked at, Disney will have tons of Marvel characters and events to draw from.

On another note: I wish WDW was getting a version of the Tron Light Cycle Coaster. That concept looks AMAZING!!!
