After accompanying my dad to court cases in the summer when school was out and working in the field I've worked in, I always say ---there is no animal in nature that can match the capacity for cruelty of the human being. I stand by that statement.
I adopted my dog from the local shelter. They said he was about 4-5 weeks old when someone had tried to drown him then put him in a box and threw him in the dumpster. The garbage men found him when they heard him whimpering. I have owned many animals in my life and he is without a doubt the most loving, even tempered, playful dog I have ever known.
He suckers in everyone with his sweetness ~grin~. I walked back into the Vet room after checking on paperwork and the vet was sitting on the floor with him talking baby talk and hugging him. We went to pick him up at the Magic Kingdom Kennel around 6pm and there he was....sitting behind the front desk with a few of the girls working there, eating treats and being hugged and pet! LOL They said "He just looked so sad being alone and he is so sweet, we just had to bring him up here with us".
He stands guard by the pool whenever we are swimming, he wants to be in whatever room we're in, he is very protective of all of us but not aggressive, he will do anything short of standing on his head when someone is crying to make it stop....including sitting on our lap and licking our face....it's hard to keep crying with 125 pounds of dog on your lap and a giant tounge up your nose
What I'm saying is....he has enriched our lives in ways we didn't think possible from a pet and has brought much love and laughter our way. I feel sorry for the person who tossed him away like nothing, they missed out on the best animal companion they could have had. I also feel sorry that any one of these puppies in the pictures could bring the same love and laughter to someone's home but will never have that chance.
Yes, our dog is neutered and the cats are spayed. We volunteer at the shelter and have a monthly allotment from our account to the ASPCA. We also give to the homeless and volunteer at their shelter as well. Not that it matters.
