Can someone tell me what this is like? It has been remodled since we were there. We are going at a very busy time, full house. I am concerned about the lines for breakfast in the mornings. We will be doing breakfast there and all of our counter service in the parks and our table meals at various places.

We are going Dec 13-20th so I'm curious as well. I don't worry about dinner just B'fast as that is when we are in a hurry to get a quick waffle and get to the parks.

We were there in Sept. 06 during free dining. I will tell you that the lines get very long in the morning for breakfast. My advice would be to get there before everyone else. I believe the busiest times are between 8:00 and 9:30. We enjoyed the food at Roaring Forks.

I need to check the Menu section. Didn't know if the breakfast for a snack bar would be on there or not. What sort of items did they have for breakfast?

We stayed there in 2006 and this January. Honestly, unless you go at a complete off time, it's bad. The first trip, nearly every time we got there one of the registers was broken and they had to funnel everyone through one line. And there's no obvious line queue or a place for a long line of people to stand out of the way of people trying to get their food. I thought that trip was just a fluke until this last trip. Once again, there seemed to always be a non-functional cashier line. And the meal options just aren't as good as at some of the other resorts. Especially compared to Poly (where we stayed last before this last trip), it was lacking. And the CMs that took our order every day (same ones every day we were there), were - at best - acting like they could only barely tolerate us bothering them for food. Although, we get up early and would go down before 7 each morning for breakfast. The place was usually completely empty at that time and we could get our coffee and yogurt and pretty quickly be in and out.

They have an ok selection of food. They have good breakfast snacks like muffins, doughnuts, etc. If you have young kids they might not like the very small selection of counter service breakfasts. My brothers definetly didn't like it. Hope this helps!

This is perfectly stated.

IMO Roaring Fork is a complete NIGHTMARE. I hate that the lines are so long to pay that by the time you get to eat it, its cold.

My family thought the food was fine. To me the food is like any couter service food. My teenage sons were happy with the selection and so was I.

I was hoping that when they remodled it , they enlarged it! I think I will just get breakfast stuff delivered (garden grocer) and eat in our room except the one day we eat out at Kona. The thing is, I've been told Disney is completely sold out while we are there (March 15-22). I did not realize when we booked that Eastr was so early this year. I think we are in for a mess with long lines and everyone wanting to just go back to the room and swim only to find out the pool is full too!! I have always loved Disney but spring break is not the time to go!!

We were there for a week last May..and didn't have any problems what so ever to speak of. I thought they got you in and out pretty quickly. We ate at least one meal(more often two) there every day for a week. In fact, we did visit Saratoga Springs and found the counter service there to take A LONG time..we were happy to return to the WL and get exactly what we wanted without much wait at all. We found it especially nice to take our breakfast and eat it poolside.;)

Going to RF at off times does help because it's too small for that size resort; it's a shame because most of the food is pretty good.

We love it for its selection of foods.... Tons of hot and cold meals and snacks! The food is always cooked well.... Lines move quickly and there are two check-out people during peak hours.... Many people do the same thing you are planning, so be prepared for a crowded dining area... Seating is limited inside and does get crowded at peak hours but there is also seating outside by the pool.

We'll be at the Wilderness Lodge the last week of May through the first week of June. I know that those are gonna be some crowded times but I am hoping for the best.

We aren't big breakfast eaters and usually just eat some snacks in our room. But, some mornings, I like to go down and pick up breakfast to eat in the room while we get ready to hit the parks.

For others who have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, is this doable?

I don't think it's too small, but it is badly designed. When it's busy, the line to the cashier blocks access to the snacks and the drinks and intersects with the lines to the two food stations. OK, it's too small.;)

We were just there in feb and RF is probably the main reason we would not stay there again. i thought that the food selection was very limited. we are the type of family who likes to spend a little extra time at our resort and tend to limit the table service meals as we have 3 children under 6. Breakfast was the only meal that really offered a selection but if you did not go at the correct time the line was huge.
Lunch and dinner were the exact same menu and they had no prepared items in the cooler. I am sorry but my kids do like to eat more than chicken nuggets and PBJ. I think they have done a great disservice to this hotel with RF as we loved everyhting else about the hotel.

<<<I was last there in July 05, very busy time, resort was full and honestly I never had a problem. Yes, it can get crowded but it was never a real issue. The register lines moved along at a good pace, the food service was quick and the menu choices were very good. I especially liked the oatmeal. We never lingered over breakfast, got in, ate and left.

We ate at RF's several times during our stay and I always was very satisfied.

Our last 5 or so stays have been at WL, we were there in September of 2007 and January of 2008 and never had any problems. Mornings can be a problem is you pick the wrong time, we always went down early, 7 am, few people but we breezed in and out. We feel the choices are quite adequate, breakfast choices are very good, oatmeal, bacon, eggs pancakes, donuts etc. Hamburgers there are fantastic, quite huge and wife and I split these. In the past 2 stays we frequented the Forks alot, refillable mugs and such, flat bread pizza was really good and hot chocolate at night puts us to sleep and never waited longer than 5 minutes to check out.

Sure is... we have brought back breakfast to the room from RF a bunch of time:thumbsup2

:confused3 Sorry you had a bad experience. Very strange because it does not sound like the RF we have come to love. AT ALL!! It sounds like you are describing a different place.

We had no problems finding other choices for our then 3 and 4 year old... They split an adult cheese pizza twice (which they really loved) and split an adult cheese burger once. They also liked the apples dipped in caramel. They only had nuggets and fries once at the hotel.... Maybe you stuck to the kids menu which you really don't have to do.

As for "cooler" food.... I had a very good tuna sandwich and a chicken/ceasar salad out of the frig. DH had a premade sandwich also (just cannot remember what it was).

Also, the kids loved cookie hour... From 4-5 PM (I think) they give the kids a cookie to decorate with frosting and sprinkles.

Final thoughts: I would never take WL off your list of places to stay. It is truly a charm. :lovestruc

We were just there Feb. 10th-16th. yes it was busy it seemed around 8:00 or so. the lines seemed to move fast. we have never stayed anywhere else, so i can't compare it to other resorts. but they had some rolls there that were so delicious and fresh. the breakfast was fine, and we also a lunch there, and was happy with the food. our food was not cold, and they were very friendly. they had alot of people to wait on, if you have every worked fast food, you would understand. i suppose it could have been set up better, like the one person said. trying to get a snack while the other people were in line. other than that, it was fine.:wizard:
