I just thought that since our trip down to WDW was so nice, that I would write about our trip home.
The first leg of the trip has started out a little rough.
I left behind all my skincare and make-up at Old Key West.
We left Disney world at 2am in the morning on New Year's day.
I drove to Daytona Beach that morning and checked in at a Holiday Inn about 4 am.
It was at this point I realized what I had left behind.
John, being the wonderful husband that he is drove back to Disney that morning after some much needed sleep, so I could get my toiletrie bag.
When we got there, I went in to claim my bag and the woman standing beside me could not believe we had come back for it.
Her words were "My husband would not do that for me", at which time her husband came up beside her, looked at her, she explained, and he said "That would be the day. Have you heard of Wal-Mart?"
I looked at him and said "Not for skin care and make-up" .:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I am supposed to be driving home as John's licence has expired and he has to re-write, due to holding a DZ licence, but he won't let me.
We were supposed to be home before his birthday! Oops!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:
So off we go!
We stopped at a Cracker Barrel in Florida right near the state line before entering into Georgia, that was at 4:30pm.
I have to say it was great timing as the place got packed quick and there was a line up of people waiting to be seated.
Just a couple of notes here....
1. The food was good.
2. I had something called Hushpuppies which I have never had before.
3. They have an aweful lot of Alan Jackson stuff. What is that about? :confused3
So back in the car we go!
We got off I-95 to get gas in Georgia.
Now I know what you are thinking, Katherine this is not note worthy, but wait for it.... ;)
I look up and there is a billboard advertising a new building in town.
The town is Richmond Hill, Georgia! I know you still don't see, but we are from Richmond Hill, Ontario! WOW!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:
So we take a little drive and snap a few pictures so we can show our friends at home.
Well then we see a police crusier and I make John stop!
The police car was a Charger, nice!:thumbsup2
I walk up and explain to the officer where we are from and could we take a picture of his cruiser. He was very nice and we chatted for a few minutes.
He gave the boys stickers that look like a badge and they say Junior Officer on them well the boys are thrilled. :):)
So we drive some more and make it to our destination for tonight which is Columbia, Sc at another Holiday Inn.
So John has checked the weather and we will be taking the long way home due to about 4" of snow coming right for the route we were going to take through the WV mountains.
Below is a list of places were are going to be going through.
If anyone would like a quick meet just post here, or pm me.

Asheville,NC
Knoxville,TN
Lexington,KY
Cincinnati,OH (Saturday Night) we may try to make Indianapolis late Saturday night.
Indianapolis,IN
Kalamazoo,MI (sort of)
Detroit,MI
London,ON
Kitchener,ON
I am off to bed now, or the skin care and make-up won't help!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

You've already passed by me but have a great (and safe) trip home!!! :goodvibes

You guys are taking the long way to get back home! If you have an ETA around a meal time in the Detroit area, I would meet y'all somewhere. Not quite sure where...but somewhere...

you really are taking the long way home....
i would have just gone straight up I-75, to detroit and across to windsor (without the round about to I-95, kalmazoo, etc)...

safe trip home!!!

You are going to bypass me by going through Cincinnati to Indy. Have a safe trip home.

:sad1::sad1::sad1:Way too far west to see me.

Safe travels John and Katherine. Look forward to the next time I get to see you. Maybe we will really have to plan that road trip to paint your fence.

We were originally heading for Buffalo via WV & PA, but are rerouting trying to miss the snow.
I-75 is not really a "direct route" to Toronto either, although I have done it before.
The Kalamazoo thingy is strictly a "maybe" due to a massive car musuem there, but I doubt we will have time.
And due to so many peeps in the Indy area, I tried to fit it into our schedule. :rolleyes1

Keep tuned in Tracey, routes can change as we go today. :)
This was a last minute route put together at 2am, :surfweb: it is not written in stone.

(over loudspeaker)

Please move away from the fence!!

(Looking forward to seeing you again as well Anne!)

Either that or we will have to pick a half way point and make a weekend trip.

If for some reason, you detour over to I-65 and through Louisville, call me. I have PM'd you my number.

I love that you've never heard of hushpuppies before!

Just entering Asheville, North Carolina now. The view of the mountains are beautiful.

Silly Canadians!! You should have pm'd us, we could have picked your stuff up at OKW and taken it back for you!

Have a safe journey!!

Not a bad idea missing Buffalo - it's been snowing in waves all this week since we've been back. But not that bad - well, maybe cuz DH is out snowblowing and not me :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Woke up this morning to a fresh fluffy 3" :rolleyes1

If you change your route to come thru be sure to let us know, I'm sure John & the boyz will be up for a wing meet! ;)

Safe journeys :grouphug:

cheers,
:flower3:
