RNRC re-do rumors?

I'm not seeing anything either. What is supposed to be -- a reverse of the finger? All I can see is his middle finger (I believe it is) bent in, while his other fingers remain straight. :confused3

I would imagine that Disney would have noticed any gesture. I wouldn't read too much into how someone scratches their head. Anyone remember all the fuss about hidden words and so on in Disney films?

Sorry but this has to be deliberate.

I think the only way it got through was like a posted. At the time no one knew what it meant and by the time the "rumors" came out it was too late to re shoot.

So I think Disney just treats it like you would if your toddler pulled down his pants in public. You don't make a big deal about it, ignore it and hope everyone else does too.

Sorry, I know exactly what it means and have since well before any rumors came about and I don't think it's at all intentional.

Yeah, what does that mean? Go to Heaven or somehting?:rotfl:

Sorry I guess I'll have to ask a 5th grader.

I think the rumors are getting confused. The ride is not being changed, but one of the Jonas brothers is replacing Steven Tyler in Aerosmith.

If you go to the wikipedia entry on Rock and Roller Coaster, you can find out what the hand gesture means to some people.

Ok, I get it now.:thumbsup2 Learn something new every day. I still think it's a stretch but I'll be watching for it when I'm in the preshow in a couple of weeks. Looking for hidden mickey's and now this??!!:scared:

Le sigh-I knew what it was as soon as I read this description. Maybe he meant to put down 2 fingers for the 'let's rock' sign and missed.

If anyone gave any serious thought to this rumor being true, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you! :lmao:

Pay attention the next time you watch the pre-show. In 2006 we were there with our youngest daughter, then 26 and our wonderful SIL. Wifey was watching our grand daughter as the 3 of us rode R 'n R and I casually told my SIL to watch Tyler's hand as he shaded his eyes while looking out at we, in the room. I didn't tell him what to look for, just to observe. He said, 'That's two downtown and one...' well, this is a family board. Suffice it to say, he recognized the gesture for what it is.

Well only Steve Tyler knows if he made this gesture on purpose or not. It is quite common nowadays isn't it?

Um...I was referring to the topic actually. The bit about the ride being remade into a Jonas Brothers attraction. THAT is ridiculous and I can't fathom why anyone would think such an idea had any credibility.

The bit about the 'shocker' gesture is something I've long known and seen, yes. Personally I don't think it's a particularly big deal; if the majority of folks need to be explained what it means and WHY it is offensive, it's clearly not causing much of a fuss to families watching the show.

Bad idea....but I wonder if Disney picked up on his hand gesture?

They should have really checked that one out and changed it........

:rotfl:

Yeah, that gesture is such a shocker, isn't it? :rotfl: I don't think they've done anything with his gesture, but I do know that they block any pictures that have been taken where people have made that hand shape ;)

Have I just been living under a rock or something?? Good grief, I'm fairly young (or at least I tell myself that I am, at 27!), and I had NO clue what that "shocker" gesture meant! Wow... I feel old now...

Oh and BTW, gesture or no gesture, I'd rather the ride be Aerosmith themed ANY day than Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montana... I really hope the rumor is just a rumor and it stays Aerosmith (at least till May-- haha!).

Make that a "super stretch"!

Was that even well-known back when RNRC was first open? I don't recall it until a few years later

Edit: apparently some people still haven't heard of that shocking reality
