RnR To Be Reimagined?

I wouldn't mind if RnRC ultimately gets rethemed as for me, it doesn't 'jive' with the rest of the front of the park for some reason. As far as the front of the park being representative of the Hollywood that never was and always will be, Aerosmith just doesn't do it for me, especially with ToT right next to it. I guess if the idea is California and Sunset Strip, maybe it works for some people I suppose. I think that for me, I would prefer that as part of the overall DHS redo, the Imagineers really focus on the golden age of Hollywood. That might be why I have an issue with Aerosmith. Don't get me wrong though, I still do like the ride.

Good point. The 'old Hollywood' theme of DHS always appealed to me. I love the look of the shops & streets at night especially. :thumbsup2

That's the whole point of the ride...
I thought the point of the ride was to be an enclosed, dark, high speed roller coaster with a linear induction launch, 3 inversions and 4-5gs of force. Granted, the darkness keeps many people from noticing the inversions. But I wonder what percentage of the riders can actually name the songs that were played in their car or even care?

If it's music on a coaster you want, you can head over to Universal and get a selection of choices on the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. No inversions, but a bit faster and a more dramatic view. (Curious about the "Hollywood" in the name, though.) I don't consider RnR to be particularly unique.

I know Aerosmith is big as far as hard rock goes, but I don't know how big hard rock is compared to other current musical genres. Nor do I know what percentage of people consider the music a significant part of the experience. Personally, I find it irrelevant, but that's just me.

You're describing the mechanics of the ride, he's referring to the theming of the ride. Unless/until they retheme the ride, asking for the music to be toned down or removed is kind of silly.
Completely agree - that's what makes it the ride it is. To remove the this theme...well I think if you did it would be more likely Disney changes it to a meet and greet then (maybe M&E Aerosmith without the music for you).

As I mentioned earlier the track for RnR isn't unique at all. It's used in other parks around the world. And while a dark coaster is unusual that's not even unique at Disney World. In fact the only unique thing about it is the theming.

Aerosmith does distinguish the coaster. Earplugs are always an option for those who don't want the music blasting (would at least ameliorate the noise). For those not liking Aerosmith's music, well, not a lot of help there. ;)

Honestly, I don't think converting it to a Star Wars themed rollercoaster to be a bad idea. Aerosmith is nice but they're getting old and even their resurgence in popularity is fading.

So here is what I would do:

I would entirely remove the entrance queue area that feeds into Sunset Blvd as it already doesn't fit with the 1930's era theming....then re-route the traffic out behind the Star Wars Launch Bay area, and make that all part of the Star Wars theming....in reality it is pretty close, however there would be some logistical issues, they may need to build a ramp over food and merchandise staging areas back there. Still, it's Disney and they can do this.

They could make an overlay that can be done in less than a year IMO if they really wanted to push. Then they'd have a 'new' attraction that beats their 5 year timeline for the new Star Wars stuff.

PLEASE NOOOO more Star Wars. The change over of the park hasn't even happened yet and I'm already done with the overkill on Star Wars (*disclaimer here, I have nothing against Star Wars but can't say I am a fan either). I think redeveloping 1 third of the park to be Star Wars, or Toy Story is just overkill. Of course neglecting the park for 2 decades and not updating or investing in attractions isn't helpful. Not that it matters but seems like they could have been updating things for years and kept the park relevant.

But back to RnR change it and update it, no problem. Have a new pre show and work it in to the ride but with all the imaginer's they have to be able to come up with an idea other than Star Wars.

I actually like STAR WARS but fully agree that too much emphasis has been given to it, rather like FROZEN the last two years. My wife is already calling DHS, "Star Wars Studios." :crazy2:

Well that's what I'm saying, they have possibly 4-5 years before we see any of the Star Wars stuff open, for Disney's best position going forward until then for DHS I think it's a decent idea, but I can understand why people think it's overkill.

Ha, that would certainly be...interesting? Though I'd rather see Ladybeard in the pre-show!

I had no idea different songs were played! Though, TBH, I can't even remember which songs I've gotten...

I'm kind of surprised also-- I thought it was just a medley....

It's prefer just a major refurbishment down the line maybe worth another band but please don't retheme it to another movie franchise

I am just thankful that all of you wanting to retheme or remove Aerosmith from RnRC have absolutely no say so in what Disney does with it. I love it just the way it is and have since the 1st day I stepped foot on it.

If you don't like it, can't stand the music, want to redo it - go ride something else. Leave RnRC to those of us who love, love, love it!! Will certainly free up those long lines.

I'm pretty neutral. I like the ride already, but also I'd love to see it rethemed. When push comes to shove, people are lining up for it mostly because they want to go on a rollercoaster, not because of a love of Aerosmith.

I mildly disagree. I've ridden numerous rollercoasters from coast to coast, and while a few have had bigger thrills than RnR, the uniqueness of the Aerosmith music makes this ride more enjoyable. I'm sure I'd still ride whatever iteration that might replace RnR, but I would absolutely miss their music.
