Riviera vs Grand Floridian?

We will be moving to FL in June and have 97 points that need to be used by March. We have two weekend trips booked for two nights each at Grand Floridian Lake View Studio in July and Riviera Preferred View Studio for Labor Day weekend in September. I’ve read that Grand Floridian rooms are looking tired.... would you stay at Riviera twice in a row instead or somewhere else? BLT/ CR looks to be doing renovations, we stayed at Poly a month ago, AKL Jambo is closed and doesn’t seem like the full experience, and we don’t love BC/ BW. Instead of our GF stay, should we be booking SSR to be close to Disney Springs and have an updated room or Riviera for a second trip? We may not do the parks and just do the pool and outdoor dining instead. What would you do?

I own at Riviera and have stayed a few times now and stayed at Grand Floridian twice in the past 6 months as well. Grand Floridian is beautiful and I would stick with your plan as is.

I agree with zakdavid.

We stayed in a 2 dedicated bedroom at VGF back in fall of 2018. The kitchen cabinets were all dinged up along with the refrigerator door. The rest of the room was in real good shape. I’m sure my mother in law and my adult daughter didn’t even notice this. These minor blemishes didn’t affect us. We spent more time at the pool then we did in the kitchen. I haven’t stayed at RIV yet, but unless they changed the material that they made the kitchen cabinets out of. They use a particle board instead of plywood. If the paint chips or falls off, when they clean it or if it gets wet it expands and swells. RIV will look the same in 5-7 years. Have fun on your trip.

PS. In fall of 2018 we stayed in a dedicated 2 bedroom at SSR, those rooms were much older and our room was flawless.

We stayed at Riviera in November and are at GF now- I would keep your plans. Both resorts are beautiful. (Like others said, the cabinets in the GF are a little dinged but nothing to deter me from staying again.

Just the fact that one can now walk from VGF to MK would likely make me choose VGF in your situation. (I wouldn't even have to be going to MK; I just want to do that walk along the lakeshore that has been created.)
