Riviera Quick Service - just bad

So it sounds like Breakfast is good (we didn't do it) but everything else is just "meh". I can't even get behind the pizza comments because - that pizza isn't good. The dough is, cracker like, the sauce has almost no taste. I mean - to each their own of course, but - I think some folks might need to try better pizza :)

We think Riviera has the best quick service on property. We've never had a bad/meh meal there. Always consistant and great. Different strokes, for different folks, I guess.
Agreed. Have eaten there at least 10 times, various meals, while staying there or staying at BCV. Not crazy about the pizza but I don't care for any pizza at Disney unless Via Napoli.

I mean - just how? What is redeeming about it? The menu is very limited, and nothing on it is particularly good.
I'm honestly curious what you liked about it. The only thing people seem to be point to here is breakfast and the pizza - which you just ruled out.

Never had a bad meal at the Riviera Quick service thankfully. The tomato soup is always on point. Had everything but the Veggie Skewers, Tuna Salad and Greek Salad. It ain't the best meal I've ever had on property but it has never disappointed. Everything has always had great flavor.
The Spicy Italian ain't like a NY deli spicy Italian but it is miles ahead of Subway/Jersey Mikes.

We felt it was quite good, with the veggie skewers being a favorite. We have had dinner there a few times during our Pop Century stays. Food options were much better than Pop and AofA options. We mostly eat QS meals and this location was at the top of the list for us.

I always get the croque monsieur. The ham is so flavorful, great bechamel, I grew up overseas visiting the south of france every summer and the flavor was spot on. The fries are nice and thin and crispy like belgian frites—nothing like the limp potato sticks they serve at most Disney QS places. Add gelato for dessert and what more could you want?

If you don’t like it, don’t make people feel like they have to explain why they like a restaurant. Lol

I've ordered this no less than 10 times and it's consistently good, IMO. It's one of our fave QS spots (but we've never done breakfast! I need to, now!)

Personally, I think QS at any resort in WDW is sub-par. It's just "Disney" food. However, I find Poly and Riviera to have the most palatable options.

I do believe those that say they didn't like but we must have hit it just right the numerous times we have gone. DH loved the Italian each time. Tons of meat. I got many grilled cheeses (had to ask) and tomato soup which I loved. Also, had several very good grilled chicken sandwiches. HONEST. Breakfast pancakes were great. Love the atmosphere.

And....we are discriminating at Disney. Staying there in January (unless I cancel due to finding out Skyliner will be out those days) and intend to go to Prima. Guess I'll keep my fingers crossed this trip.

Sorry if I went against the grain. Just being honest. Maybe during Covid they tried harder. On a different note, we had crappy food at Yachtsmen and other places for big $. Been to Via probably 20 times and May's trip was a total dud.

Had a fantastic stay at Riviera Resort in Feb 2022 and my family enjoyed Primo Piatto. Sure, after one or two meals, the options start to slim down, but we didn't find it any better/worst for dinner vs. any other DVC and deluxe resort quick services. In fact, I found the menu to be pretty adventurous/on theme/to point than other resorts (like Saratoga Springs in May 2021). That being said, I also think all QS resort restaurant food is bland sooo.....

Agreed that breakfast hit the spot > dinner.

Overall, we found the food at RR to be fantastic and can't wait to return soon.

No no I genuinely wanted to know - so thanks for explaining. I just found the Italian to be very sub-par (esp compared to the Hot italian served at the Grand Floridian Gasperilla's) It was just a cold lump of meat IMO - and the grilled cheese was literally two pieces of dempsters multigrain bread buttered with cheese in the middle? But hey - we are allowed to like different things - but if you Hubby did like the italian - I highly suggest the hot italian at Gasparilla's at the GF on your next visit :) I had a couple good bites on the grilled chicken sandwich when I ate it, and if there had been more topping / veg on it, it could have been quite good, maybe I got a dud :)

It's one of our favorite quick service locations, it's an easy category to come out ontop, sure but we've eaten at all the dvc qs at wdw at this point and it's top 3 for sure.

I loved the grilled vegetable skewers. It was one of my favorite meals on our trip last summer. I tried the pizza before and I didn’t care for it, but mainly because the sausage was weird to me. But I am picky with meat. We also enjoyed the Mickey waffles, but I think next time we will have to try those pancakes.

How close is Riviera to Caribbean beach food options? We're staying at Riviera for the first time. I'm not a picky eater, but my husband really is. He's also not adventurous when it comes to food. He likes Italian food or American pub type food. I'm starting to worry a little about the food options. I know we can go over to the BW, but if we just want to stay close is Caribbean beach an option?

Hi not sure if this will help - we just came back from Disney and we really struggled with how bad the food was - both In general and in comparison to our 11 previous pre- Covid trips. (We stayed at the Dolphin/Swan). One night after the Boardwalk pizza window food turned out to be inedible, we did Grub Hub and had it delivered to our lobby. A staff member At the front desk recommended Millers Ale House, they deliver to Disney resorts and your husband might like the menu.

We also did Carabas on grub hub but the kids did not like their meal at all

I actually felt validated when I read this thread, lol!
We've done 6 stays at Riviera since it has opened, we really love this resort~
When it first opened, Primo Piatto was AMAZING for counter service! It had fresh, unique offerings not found elsewhere. The food was always hot and delicious. The service amazing.
I'd say that each time we have gone, it changes just a little and not for the better. Of course Covid has made menu options smaller, but over time we've seen smaller portions, less attention to detail and preparation, and most definitely less flavor. The pizza used to be real pizza, vs. the now standardized cardboard flatbread ubiquitous to Disney. (Ugh, so disappointing.)
In the past, lemon blueberry pancakes were literally the best pancakes I've had. Same with the polenta with the breakfast.
The last time we stayed there was this past May, and while the food was overall decent (except for the pizza, ugh!), it was definitely disappointing with way smaller portions, and way less flavor. We were disappointed with the service we got as well~ twice during our stay we had less than friendly and welcoming service. Once was when my husband who got the pancakes for breakfast (mobile order) got one packet of syrup and asked my DD to go back and grab a couple more. When she asked the attendant who packages the mobile orders, she snapped at DD and said it was only for people who bought and paid for food here. When DD said we just picked our order up, she demanded DD go get the receipt to show her. I mean come on. I realize this is an isolated incident, but honestly, this is the kind of experience we've been getting from a lot of QS resort locations. Another incident was with an allergy order, I won't get into that, but my point is, they are. not as accommodating as they have been in the past.

I see a lot of people suggest to make Primo Piatto a destination spot for a meal, but I'm always thinking... no! It's not worth it, lol, unless you are right in the vicinity. A PP mentioned there is not a lot of seating, and that's true~ they actually removed some of the outside tables. I'm always afraid to be the voice of dissent for Primo Piatto because so many people love it (and I do/did too). But it's definitely not the same. Still better than some others, though.

However, if you do go, as others have said, I recommend the grilled veggie skewer/pita, it really is yummy, and the Greek salad (I get a side of kids' chicken nuggets and cut it up to add on top of the salad).

I also think Centertown Market QS at Carribean Beach actually has a few gems on their menu.

Just my 2 cents. :)
