I was just on the phone with central reservations. Looking to book three nights at the beginning of January. They quoted me a standard studio at Riviera. $624.38 per night, including all taxes. Thought some of you might be interested. I didn’t book. Was looking for something a bit less. Went with POFQ.

So if CRO is quoting prices, do we know what room sizes are being offered? I don't see it on the website.

They offered me a standard studio. I’m a party of three for that stay. Too rich for my blood.

There must be more to this resort than the building itself. It looks nice but not worth those prices. There must be an upgrade in service or something that is going to make people want to pay these prices. To me it doesn't look like the same class as the Grand Floridian.

I don’t understand how they’ll market this new DVC as better or same as the original 14. We shall see...

I would say its very easy to market, it has more going for it than SSR does - and I like SSR. I think the hardest part of marketing this will be the resale restrictions. Its the #1 reason I won't buy here.

It depends what you want. Riveria has 8 floors. SSR has only 4. Riveria will have access to the Skyliner. Rides will be short but how long will the lines be? Will you have to get off at CBBR to get to HS? I think you will. This will add more time. SSR is walking distance to Disney Springs. SSR has a golf course, Riveria does not. I have stayed at BLT and we were not impressed. Felt like a standard hotel vibe with a nicer room. Looks like Riveria will be very similar. We did enjoy being able to walk to MK and the views were nice from the room. Based on pricing I expect Riveria to be high in points probably VGF and PVB high. I think they missed on the Tower studio, I think a king size bed would have been a better choice. At least DVC seems to be listening getting rid of those awful sleeper sofas.

You're right. I agree a king size bed would have been much better in the tower studio rooms.

The inconvenience of switching gondolas can be marketed as no more inconvenient than switching monorails to get from MK resorts to Epcot... i guess. And the number of floors probably won't be a huge factor to most people. You will have views of both Epcot & Hollywood Studios fireworks from certain rooms, possibly really good dining options & character dining. I do think if points come close to VGF... then they will without a doubt struggle to sell this. It has plenty of appeal but its no GF.
