I'm not much help in the "comparison" part -- but I will tell you that we absolutely LOVED CSR. It was so beautiful there. I bet you would like it there.

thank you!! :) we are only there for 5 days, wasnt sure if it was worth the extra $ or not.. :confused3

I may not be much help either. We've only stayed at the CSR in the moderate category. We love it so much that we've stayed nine times (with and without our children). We like the queen beds (comfy), being able to get a massage if I want, the nightime lounge with a DJ on the weekends, etc.

IF and ONLY if we could not get the CSR, POR-Riverside would be our only other moderate choice.

See...told you I'd probably not be much help. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

DW and I have stayed at both POR and CSR. Both are lovely resorts and you really can't go wrong with either one. POR has the boat to DTD which is a big plus for some folks, and CSR is the only moderate resort with a gym/health club which is a big plus to me.
The bottom line: We would stay at either one again in a heartbeat, so choose the one that's most appealing to you and enjoy!

I've stayed at CSR twice before but don't know the answer to this.. Is there a fee to use their gym/health club? Thanks.

It's free to guests staying at CSR. There is a fee for non-CSR guests, but I don't know what it might be currently.

I've stayed at both and both are really nice....but I loved POR and only liked CSR. POR is just lovely and has the best food court of the Mods IMO. I also love the boat to DTD.

CSR is really pretty too and I felt the beds there were so comfortable!!!

Overall you really can't go wrong, but I think I would stick with POR for this trip and then try CSR next time. :goodvibes

I've stayed at both and would have to say it pretty much comes down to themeing preference. I find the rustic southern charm of POR much more appealing than that of CSR since I live in Southern California and see that same type of Southwest/Mexican/Spanish architecture just about every day.

Im glad u got it narrowed down to these 2.
By far the best 2 of the mods. Some including me consider CSR as deluxe lite.

That being said. I will always choose csr over por by a lil bit. Heres why...

Both main pools are very nice but CSR just a lil nicer. NEVERcrowded either.
Bus service goes to csr. Best of all resorts (imho) por loses this one considerably. Por is almost like pop busses.
Food court vs pepper market. Although por food court is definitely great, the fact that its soo busy every second of the day reminds me of a value resort. After u get your meal now u have to get lucky to get a table. PM u get seated in 20 secs then get yer meal n sit down. They'll bring u your drinks..
Decor and theme.: its a push here. Basically personal preference both are updated n have comfortable queen beds.
Nightlife. Both have movies at night. Lounge at csr is fun but yeehaw bobsat the lounge at por is a bit better.
Table restaurants. Another push here. Both excellent.
por has the boat to dtd. Nice perk..
Have fun. U can't go wrong with either but i personally choose csr.

There is a tip for having them clear your table and bring you your drinks. Is it 10%? or 15%? Or.. how much do you tip them? I can't remember how much I tipped them, it's been awhile. At other moderates at the food court, there is no tipping. You purchase your food, refill your drinks, and find a table. You don't have to wait for someone to come to you to get your drinks refilled.

Besides the relaxing boat ride to DTD.. You can also use the POFQ pool. You can walk it there (10-20 minutes or use the boat). There is a carriage ride at night.. I think it's from 6-9pm? Not sure about the cost. There are evening entertainment at both Port Orleans.

Whichever resort you choose, you will enjoy your stay! They are both great resorts! I love the Southwest theme as well as the South Bayou/New Orleans French Quarter theme.

This has not been my experience. I found them to be very comparable. Even though the bus for POR often lets off at POFQ first they took about the same time for us. CSR is located closer to AK and DHS. POR is located closer to EPCOT.

This has not been my experience either .... especially if you are an early riser. we were just there 2 weeks ago .... Never had a problem with crowds or finding a table. It's just like anything ... IMO .... its all a matter of timing. I wasn't all that impressed with the PM

CSR is an amazing resort, we keep going back to it when we stay moderate.

I may not be much help either. We've only stayed at the CSR in the moderate category. We love it so much that we've stayed nine times (with and without our children). We like the queen beds (comfy), being able to get a massage if I want, the nightime lounge with a DJ on the weekends, etc.

FWIW - POR has queen beds now also. The resort is newly refurbished within the last year. There's a small number in the AB section that are not done yet. So the rooms are newer than CSR. Also - POR has night time entertainment in the lounge several nights a week. His name is Yeehaw Bob and while he was not my cup of tea, people rave about him. Entertaining, at least.

I was not fond of the Pepper Market set up at CSR. We eat in the food court every morning and sometimes for lunch, and we think POR has one of the best food courts of all WDW hotels. We also love DTD and the boat is great. Much better than waiting for the sporadic DTD bus. We are also two adults and I'd imagine other adults on a trip without kids would want to spend at least one or two nights at DTD, so the boat was a great option to have.

1st off pm doesnt have any mandatory tipping. If you have 4 people you maybe give a 5-er .if not $1 per person is fine. In the grand scheme of things if you visit pm 1 time per day for 7 days itll cost a whopping 35 bucks. Small price compared to the thousands we spend on the whole trip. What that 35 bucks gets u is a seat without doing the resort500 looking for a table while your food gets cold. Also your drink never gets low because they'll constantly refill it so u dont have to keep getting up.

Buses or not even close. CSR being a convention resort never packs up .Both times i went were during Jersey week and por we stood almost always and coming back from fantasmic show we waited for like 7 or 8 buses b 4 switching liners to POFQ.

For adults i think csr is better. the pool is nicer, they have a gym and a spa, they have a dj at the lounge at night. por is a great resort too, love the boat to dtd. but i personally would go with csr for adults.

My two cents - POR has the WORST bus service we ever had in 15 trips to WDW. YOu could always tell which line was for POR at the bus depots because it was the longest friggin one! WE didnt even have to read the signs after our first day or two. Love the boat to DTD, but they can keep their bus service. We just booked CSR for November. Im very excited to try it out!

U will not be disappointed trust me. You'll wanna come back and back. I like to call it a deluxe lite.lol have fun.

I have stayed at both and they are both nice resorts but I would choose POR over CSR. My family was sold on CSR until staying at POR. Love the boat to DTD. I did not dislike the pepper mill but I like the food court better at POR. Loved the grounds at POR. We went on a carriage ride at POR that was very nice too. We had no problems with the buses at either resort they seemed pretty equal. Good Luck with your decision. You will have a great time at either one.

I knew that about POR and the queen beds. I was just stressing that the "queen beds at CSR" were very comfy. As we've not stayed at POR, I couldn't comment on how they are.
