Riverside or French Quarter?

I know that it'll probably be 50/50 in the answers, but please help me make a decision. We are normally a value family but are probably going to go moderate because of the fact that they have queen size beds. Now, I'm trying to figure out which one to choose. I stayed at POFQ years ago (when I was a teenager) but never Riverside. Which one should we go with? I know FQ is smaller but what other reasons should help sway us one way or another?

Thanks so much! I love these boards!

As you anticipated, you'll get opinions on both sides. :)

Between the two, we prefer POR because the larger property makes for a less crowded feel and we like the architecture and landscaping better than that at POFQ. We especially like the POR mansion buildings. Also, the food court at POR is bigger and better than the one at POFQ, and POR has a table-service restaurant while POFQ does not.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

I am in love with the Royal Rooms at POR! If you have a princess: in your group, she'd love it too!

Also, there's a great website that gives all sorts of really helpful and fun info on both Port Orleans Resorts http://www.portorleans.org/ <3 it!!

I'm sure you'll be thrilled with either location!

Both are great resorts. We have had 3 stays at POR, and just this past January we tried POFQ. We enjoyed that too. But my pref would be Por, mansion section.
We just like the theming and landscaping of Riverside better. It is more lush. Also think the food court is better. We usually eat in the parks or deluxe resort, but we always make time for a meal or 2 there, love the pasta bar. Also in summer like the quiet pools.

Both resorts share the boat to DTD. We enjoyed our POFQ stay, had a great room location close to food court and bus stop. And in winter didn't miss quiet pool. Mostly used hot tub! POFQ has a more urban feel. But both are great. No bad choice here.

If the Royal Rooms are an option, that would sway me to Riverside. They were close to everything, and it was really fun to hit the fireworks button over my head when I woke up in the middle of the night.

We stayed at POFQ a few years ago, and stayed at POR this past Christmas. Personally, I prefer POR, but just by a teensy bit! I love the mansions and the scenery of POR, but I love the music and feel of POFQ. I am not a huge fan of either food court, but I really like Boatwright's at POR. On our last stay, we stuck around two evenings and watched Yehaa Bob in the bar at POR, and I recommend seeing him whichever side you stay on. I love that if the line to get back from the parks was too long at POR, we would just hop on the bus to POFQ and take a slightly longer, but beautiful walk back to our room. Our next trip, it will be difficult to decide which side we stay at, so good luck picking!:bitelip:

I personally prefer POFQ because of its size. Especially by mid-week after a few days in the parks and my feet are sore, I like not having to walk too far to any of the ammenities or to my room.

I also like that POFQ only has one bus stop.

If you plan on using the busses, forget POR. Sharing busses with all of those stops is a huge pain. Other than that, I loved it, but preferred POFQ.

:thumbsup2

I also think the pool is nicer at POR.

We had no problem whatsoever with the bus at POR. Yes, it makes stops in the resort, but then it takes off to wherever your destination is. No big deal. FQ sometimes has its own bus and other times shares with POR, so you don't necessarily have a dedicated bus at FQ anyways.

I did not care for POFQ. I know a lot of people like the smaller size but I found it to be too compressed. And I really didn't like the mardi gras theme in the food court.

I think the food court is nicer in POR and I love the theming with the lush landscaping. Also, the boat to DTD stops first at POR. I've stayed at POR several times and have never had a problem with the buses.
