I know this has been asked 100 times, but I've waded through several pages of messages and don't see any recent info.

I know Bldg 14 is "the" bldg everyone wants, but I'm also realistic and know that everyone can't get 14. With that in mind, what would your second choice be and why?

Is Bldg 27 a good choice? I have a daughter who thinks she's a fish and this bldg looks like it's close to a bridge going to the main pool as well as a quiet pool?

Or is it a horendous choice because of the distance to the food court and bus stop with three small children? just how long would it take to get to the main bldg from 27?

Thanks for any input!

<<Trying to keep from hearing the dreaded words from dh...You actually **picked** this bldg?>>

princess: My 3 yr old wants ya'll to see the princess :)

My husband and I stayed in 38 AB on our honeymoon. We thought it was a great location because of the short walk on the trails to get to the foodcourt, bus stops, etc. We always saw rabbits or neat birds or other wildlife. It was awesome. I was close to one of the pools, I'm not sure which one because we never swam that trip.

I think all the locations have their pros and cons so don't worry too much if you don't get your first choice.

we were in building 15, which at the time was non-smoking. great location to the food court and the bus stop.

We have stayed in 17 and liked it. It's close to a quiet pool, not too far from the food, and close to a parking lot, which we like because we have our van with us. Even the "parking lot views" at this place are nice, that's how great the landscaping is!

Regardless of your request, you can "negotiate" at check-in. Ask where they are putting you and try for somehting better if you are not happy. They are usually quite accomodating, as long as you are polite.

We have found our favorite is bldg. 15. When you get off the bus at night after a long day of walking, this bldg. is a VERY short walk from the bus stop. Its also extremely close to the main bldg. I would dare say it is better than bldg. 14 because of the close distance to the bus stop ("South Depot!" I can fondly hear the bus drivers now...). I just LOVE this resort, you will too! :D

We stayed in Bld 27 on a previous trip and found the walk to the foodcourt with two children quite a long trip. So was the trip to the parking lot to get to our car. I was falsely told by management....and I knew better.....that this was the second choice bulding for guests with walking disabilities. WRONGO!! Im smart enough to know building 15 would be. The manager was very rude to me even knowing that I had contacted guests with disabilities to assure me building 14. Even that doesnt help because either they didnt bother to code it into the system or the manager was just outright lying to me that they didnt do it but we were put into building 27 and on the second floor! For me it was a misserable walk for the boys and my dh it was just a long walk.

From what ya'll have said...I think I'll change my request to bldg 15 or 17.

I just can't see a long walk at the end of the day with the kids and dh who hates WDW anyway. Plus, my oldest and I will prob go to an e-ride night if there's one scheduled. i'd feel much better being close to the bus stop coming back at 2 am.

Thanks for all your input!

Its me again. I just recommended bldg. 15. On our first trip, we stayed in bldg. 17...I thought this was a very long walk to the main bldg. and the bus stop! I'd stick to either 14 or 15. You really can't go wrong. 15 is still my favorite :D .

Thanks...again. Bldg 15 it is.

:jumping1:

Any other useful hints? What do you think? First floor or second? We'll have a stroller so I was thinking first....but others say it's noisy.

I say absolutely first floor. It is not noisy at all, at least not for us. Especially if you have a stroller you'll need the first floor. Also, its kind of nice if you have a corner room, more windows. But its far more important that you get ANY room in bldg. 15. It is so important that you don't have a long walk after getting off the buses at night. This resort is huge.
You'll love the food court...lots of great variety. The grounds are gorgeous. Try to take some time to just enjoy this. Especially along the river. Also, reserve a night just to take the river boat to Downtown Disney, you will be so happy you did. It is such a nice way to go and different from the buses. Just go and have a hot fudge sundae at Ghiradelli's there and come back, but take that boat! Its so fun and relaxing.
Oh, I could go on and on about this place. You'll see why. It is so very beautiful there.

17 is our favorite - 16 a close second. 17 is right next to a quiet pool and laundry room. If you walk past the pool and laundry room, there is a short cut to the food court - it's about a 3 minute walk.

I always request the 2nd floor. I don't like people walking over my head (or jumping on the beds above my head!).

Have fun. POR is my favorite resort!

You might want to take a look at Bldg. 18. It's right at the quiet pool, the laundry, and you can see it from Bldg. 14. We were in Bldg. 14 in November but will probably ask for Bldg. 18 next time if we can't get Bldg. 14.

Ya'll are all awesome. Any other hints? How's the carriage ride? I also heard there's a new campfire event at POR. Have you been?

Is 18 smoking? I thought that was never why we requested it.

According to the map in Passporter it is "smoking optional".
