Rivers of Light ?

Any recent news on testing progress? We were hearing about pretty extensive testing in mid-October, but haven't heard anything since.

Executives were there within the last few weeks. They want this open ASAP, people are not staying at AK at night. This is costing them big money because of the delays. Most I have seen are still confident this opens in November. I have heard one solid report on December now though because of the minor collision. This collision did not cause damage. The company involved in construction of the floats is not cooperating all that well either.

Been reported on here a few times that there was a "minor float collision" very recently ..... minor relates to damage but there is nothing minor about floats still not able to stay on course.

And reports that soft was to start a week ago ............. crickets.

I was with CM friend last weekend ......... I casually brought it up ............... I got spontaneous laughter.

Disney would do best to keep this thing very tight but the fact they have announced so many other night things happening and nothing about this .............. doesn't seem like they are confident.

Funny how you can have sources/contacts that are all good but other people's contacts/sources aren't good enough.

Regardless of RoL we had planned on AK being a late arrival day because we want to see the Tree lighting. If there is no RoL showing we may head out to Disney Springs after the Tree lighting.

Yep, that's my plan as well!

Oh dear, another collision, small or not, is not a good thing. I WAS hoping to see this summer of 2017 lol.

I will be completely shocked if destination d happens (nov 19, 20) and it's not running that weekend. The big thing in that trade show is all about pandora and animal kingdom with a surprise park evening on the 20th that they are keeping secret to those with tickets to attend. The only park that is closed at the time they have on the schedule is animal kingdom.

Now another rumor is it may soft open on nov 18th which lines up, get a couple soft nights before you really show it off to the dest d crowd.

Don't fall into the WDWNT trap.

If it's not ready for the event it's not going to be shown. We just don't know yet. It seems there might be issues still.

It's my own though. read the schedule, the only park not opened when this happens on the schedule is AK. one would hope that somethign new is the "special don't want to miss park night".

I'm talking about the November 18th softs or whatever you want to call it. WDWNT makes that stuff up half the time.

ah! I had read it here somewhere but didn't really follow up on it. thanks for the warning.

We are there 10-26th December so hopeful it's all up and running as we can't rely on disney not to pull it before our next trip in December 2017.

I think the big issue is that there is no evidence they can reset the show and run it multiple times. So even if they show it on the it night of the 20th, that's not a solid sign they'll suddenly be showing it nightly, let alone the multiple times nightly that the theatre size requires to handle any volume of crowd. And if they then try to roll it to once nightly, I think it will be only to certain audiences -- no standby, certainly. Trying to corral a standby line around there would be pretty awful.

I don't see any reason to believe this won't be ready by then.

Was only joking (well, half joking) hence the lol at the end.

However, I will point out that in early April, I don't think anyone expected that in November the show still wouldn't be up and running, so at this point, anything is possible.

While true I think we are closer now than we were in April.

I would expect that you are closer now, however had that recent collision done damage to one of the floats, you would be looking at another significant delay. As long as there are navigation issues, there is still the potential for things to go seriously wrong.

That having been said, I certainly hope this issue is able to be solved quickly, and the show is up and running shortly. The preview clips I saw back in April looked amazing! I absolutely can't wait to see the whole show in person.

But in same thought process, James Cameron will be there and he's got an ego and I can see him wanting this surprise being about him. AND we know Mr. Joe likes it about him so .... Honestly I would be much more excited about an Avatar preview of some kind than ROL at this point.

I had read it here somewhere but didn't really follow up on it. thanks for the warning.

NO one knows anything even though plenty of bloggers and folks on here claim to. Any promises/projections of soft openings, openings, etc are all guesswork by everyone. It's hard not to see what folks say and hope but ....... it's all talk. Based on the April embarrassment, they are going to keep this very close. No one who knows will share with anyone who will share on social media and forums.

HUGE ::yes:: If this can't run flawlessly, reset and run again 2-3 times a night, they have a problem. And I agree, if they decide to go ahead and run it just once per night, they will have to do no SB or it could get ugly. But I do think if they decide to do that, if the show is good, many will be upset and the backlash could be worse than not opening it.

But if the reports of floats still "bumping" is happening ....

I think the odds are that Pandora will open before Rivers Of Late!lol:)

Funny how you can have sources/contacts that are all good but other people's contacts/sources aren't good enough.

WELL ............ my sources and contacts tell me important things BUT I NEVER repeat those on here until such time it is close to public knowledge. I actually know a couple BIG things right now ......... but I won't share and my contacts know that. I've known lots of big things and I don't share.

Sharing inside information can get them fired ...........

Any hints I may give are very incomplete ... never promises of soft openings, potential open dates etc. I'll share rumors started by others, sometimes chuckling, but try to always be very clear a rumor. Folks are coming on here for guidance and information for their trips or for planning future trips. We shouldn't be offering up dates and expectations that simply are rumors. Too many bloggers and posters make stuff up ..... and sadly at some point truth/conjecture get blurred.

Perfect example: The revered almighty SPIRIT claimed that the 3rd theater at Soarin' would be decided after the 3rd track at TSMM was up and running to see if it actually helped with lines according to his inside sources. WELL ... at that point in time the theater had already been designed, and shortly after the CMs were told, the blueprint plans were in Soarin's manager's office, and there was full disclosure to the CMs. He was completely wrong aka made up story? Then when it came out, everyone claimed the attraction would not close but for a couple days to connect the new theater ...........the plan always was it would close during the refurb. Everyone believed the "story" and then they were all upset when they found out otherwise.

I don't say there aren't lots of folks out there with inside information that is valid .... many of us have friends and family who work at & with Disney World, many of us are at Disney on a regular basis, many of us have been going to Disney for decades (and I went before it opened) so - yes - some of us are deeply entrenched and know things.

But knowing doesn't mean telling. AND I have never waivered in my opinion that "Until it is up and operating and operating successfully, it not open. It doesn't matter if Disney tells you it will open (ROL) on a certain date, doesn't mean it will. Plan for what is currently open, minus refurb, but nothing else."

I have always, years, said no one on here can promise you an opening of any kind. I hate that folks keep getting disappointed and some of that comes from posts on here.

I completely understand that and know it first hand that people can get fired for sharing information they are not supposed to. I don't share info unless I can either.

If we shouldn't share rumors than why should we have a rumors board here?

Please show me where spirit said that? I don't recall it. I also don't treat him as god. I report rumors and news from sources all over the Internet.

In my postings I have never stated anything as fact I'll usually say something along the lines of I've heard this or this person is saying that.

I also don't think you can claim spirit made up stories. Sometimes what happens is they are told something but things change so what he is told might have been true at the time. This happens with things I've been told as well.
