You give deodorant for Christmas gifts??? That might be one time where "it is the thought that counts" is worse than the actual gift.

My sister makes of gift baskets stuffed with her CVS and coupon "bargains" for the young adults in the family. They love getting the household necessities (health & beauty, laundry, cleaning supplies etc)without having to pay for them out of their budget and she loves hunting down the bargains throughout the year.

LOL. I could see myself unwrapping deodorant at Christmas! I would think I may have an odor problem. :lmao: But the gift basket is a nice idea. I'll have to check out Rite Aid.

C'mon, are you kidding me? You mean noone on this board puts deodorant in their hard-to-get-for teenager's stocking? That's what I meant by giving it as a Christmas gift. Geesh!! This will be the LAST time I try to help you guys out when I find my deals! :sad2:

Oh come on, you've got to admit if you think about it - it's funny! I laughed outloud. I'm not trying to be mean and I don't think anyone else is either. I'm guessing all of us give some sort of Christmas gifts that others would think are funny. Heck, when my son was 4 he asked Santa for flavored dental floss because he'd seen it in other stockings at our house. Santa thought he was nuts!

I know I'm thankful for the tip on a bargain and I'm sure others are as well.

OP, I have 4 teens and no, I have never gifted deodorant to them. I do love sales and saving money and would buy sale deodorants for them to use as needed, and for that your announcement is great.

It was the Christmas part that got me. Deodorant is a staple: Like flour, potting soil, 409, a toilet brush. I buy them because we need them and use them. Not to give as a gift.

:thumbsup2 OP, I think this is a wonderful idea. Deodorant, toothpaste, contact solution, etc., had been a staple in our stockings for years. I know my mother likes buying things for us that we need so that we can save money for extras. Every little bit counts :).

As well, this is a good item to buy and donate to the local food bank/shelter. Personal products often go by the wayside when these places are struggling just to buy the bare minimum amount of food for their clients. $5 or $10 could go a long way to help a lot of people :goodvibes.

Hey OP, I'm right there with ya! Just last week (at Rite Aid) I bought 6 of the Nivea body washes that were on sale for $2.99 with 3 - $3.00 off two coupon, then the $5 SCR off $15 purchase of Nivea. My comment to the clerk? "Stocking Stuffers!"

Well, I'LL fess up to it! I put 3 or 4 cans of Axe in my 18 y.o. DS's stocking this year! He uses like a can a day and it's EXPENSIVE!

We REALLY cut back on Christmas this year and since I rarely buy Axe in the store, it was a treat for my son!
