Rita's water ice question

Do they use aspartame in their water ice? We just got some and it tasted terrible!

I don't think so, otherwise they would have to advertise it. I've had a few Rita's water ice but can't see what the big deal is. They're ok but not the best.

It was free today-- 1st day of spring. Free or not, I threw it away after trying to eat it.

First I asked for lime and once I tasted it, I asked if I could get bubble gum instead because the lime tasted really bad. The first few spoonsful of bubble gum tasted good, but then the aftertaste hit. My dh and ds got the bubble gum also and thought it was gross. It kind of left the same taste behind as chewable Benadryl!

I think the bubblegum is a new flavor this year, I don't remember it. I make it a rule to stay away from the citrus flavors, they seem very artificial to me. Lemon always ends up tasting like Pine-Sol!

Never had the sugar free, so I don't know. I would think they'd have to tell what sweetener is used, as aspartame cannot be digested by phenylketonurics. I am severely allergic to it, and it gives me horrible migraines.

You did try two flavors I've never had, though. Favorites here (or were, we don't have Rita's nearby now) Mango, Root Beer, Cherry, Raspberry and mine was also Pink Grapefruit.

Ahhh, to have a gelati right now. I LOVE Rita's!
