According to Fox news.

Looks like its gonna be an interesting weekend.

:earboy2:  we are trying to finish boarding the windows and packing the car. hope it won't be a long drive to austin. be safe everyone!

Found it on CNN too. Man, this is just awful! :(

Stay safe everyone and check in as soon as you can.

I'll gladly take the cold and snow up here if winter would hurry up and the hurricanes would stop!

:grouphug:

I just hope that Austin and Dallas are far enough if this thing stays strong and stays on its path. There's tons of people in Dallas from Louisiana and Gulf Coast Texas. It's so strange.

:guilty: Hope everyone can evacuate safely!! Take care of yourselves and families!!!

Here we go again. Everyone stay safe!

:sad2: :sad2: Everyone in Rita's potential path, stay safe!

Wow, the last I heard it was a Cat 2. I haven't watched the news at all. I hope everyone gets out and stays safe.

Wow, that's a monster storm. Stay safe.

They are now telling us to prepare survival kits and expect to lose power. We could get hit with anything from a weak tropical stowm to a strong cat 1 here in the Austin Area. We should be OK. There will be lots of minor property damage, but we should all still have homes when its over.

Please evacuate and don't stay. A Cat 5 is not something you want to experience. Things can be replaced but you can't. You are in my prayers.

I am not surprised since it has ramped up so fast. Since some of you are new to this, here is a great site: http://flhurricane.com/
Do not panic, just prepare and stay safe.

Packed but not sure if we're going. We live in southwest Houston. We're not under a mandatory evacuation but do live in a 100 year flood zone. We've never had flooding in the house - only in the street. I think wind damage may be more of a problem.

Please pray for those in the storm's path

Good luck and stay safe to everyone in Rita’s path. Also anyone that has animals please, please take precaution and ensure their safety in the worst case scenario

Coming from the Florida gulf coast, where we were hit with Ivan, Dennis, and some of Katrina in the past year, you do not want to stay during a category 5! Get out of there! Good luck.

My other piece of advice...do not look at just the track. If you are in the cone PREPARE, please do not be caught off guard. The NHC does the best it can, but no one can be 100 percent sure what a hurricane will do.
