Is it worth visiting Ripley's for an evening trip? Never been there and not sure if we should go or not. Also, what about Gatorland? :confused3

Gatorland was a big hit in our family. We didn't go to any of the "shows" (there seemed plenty going on) We just had a blast walking around the habitats. Never seen so many! They sell special alligator "hot dogs" so you can actually feed them. Entertained us for a very long time.

I have not been to the Ripley's in Orlando, but have done several locations before-Gatlinburg, Myrtle Beach and Williamsburg. I find them pricey, but really entertaining.

I plan to do Gatorland on our November trip. I was wondering if they had a restaurant on the premises where you could taste some gator, but didn't see anything on their site.

We did Ripley's when we were there in August and our kids had a great time. I thought it was a bit on the expensive side for what it is, but definitely worth seeing once.

Maybe I am just sentimental but Gatorland is like a rite of passage. I still have one of those instant wax figures from when I was there when I was 5. When I took my kids there last year for the first time I could not believe it...they still had the instant wax figurine machine!

It is good for a few hours of entertainment and enjoyable as long as you don't go into it expecting Disney or Universal.

I am so pumped to do Gatorland! LOL I wish I could sneak in some hotdogs and chicken legs.:lmao:

The only place I remember seeing that had food was a fast food place, you know the usual hot dogs/pizza/burgers kind of thing. Didn't look all that great. Pretty sure there was no gator on the menu!

I've been to the Ripley's in St. Augustine, not Orlando, but DW, DD's and I really enjoyed it.

As for GatorLand, it's also a lot of fun. Lots of reptiles (besides aligators) and birds, too. Remember, they had a fire there a couple of years ago so there may be some areas still closed--gift shop, etc.

Since neither is huge, you could probably do both in the same day.

my last trip to orlando was in 96, 12 years ago, and i still remember gatorland ;)

Actually they do have gator on the menu at Gatorland, I just can't remember the name of the BBQ place that sells it.

Wouldn't that be like Disney selling mouse-kebobs?:goodvibes

Where is gatorland? I've not heard of it before. Is it a park or a restaurant or both?

Definitely had gator for sale....looked a little like chicken nuggets. My husband and 15 year old had it and liked it...yecchhhh!!

Can't believe I missed those! I've had gator before, it really does taste like (salty) chicken!
