I just read this new report about Ripley:

http://www.thestar.com/living/article/885760--the-believe-it-or-not-rescue-of-ripley-the-dog

It is shocking how this little dog got into this condition. It brought me to tears thinking of what he went through.

He reminded me of one the first dogs I every rescued many years ago. She was a toy poodle and was so matted, she could hardly walk. We thought she was a grey or silver dog until we shaved/bathed her and found out she was really apricot!

I am so glad this little guy was found. I sent a donation to the shelter who rescued him.

Someone at work showed this to me today and you can't even tell that it is a dog!!!!!! What is wrong with people?????????????????
I heard on our local News this morning about two teenagers putting a kitten in a microwave for 10 seconds then throwing the microwave with the cat in it from a third story :sad2::mad: The kitten lived and is being treated at the vet for concusion and other problems. I am sure this poor baby will be adopted but there have been so many stories lately about abused animals. All I can say is it is so so sad :sad1:

Poor kitten! Have you heard any updates? I will never, ever understand the sick mind of people who abuse others. Fortunately, more jurisdictions are taking it much more seriously and these abusers face criminal charges.

Ripley is supposed to be available for adoption today. I hope he is adopted quickly!

I'm a cat person and now I want to adopt Ripley.

Unfortunately, what people are capable of doing to animals and other people doesn't shock me anymore. It just constantly disappoints.

I'm a laid back person, and not much makes me angry - but stories about animal abuse make me so mad  The kitten story makes me feel sick - how can people do that do defenceless animals that are too small to fight back? All three of my cats were rescued when they were babies and they are so sweet and trusting, I hate the thought that they could have ended up with someone who could have done something like that to them.

I'm glad lfontaine bumped this up because I was just about to search for it. I saw it last night and went to respond but the boards went down.

The pictures of poor Ripley are grotesque and disturbing. It never ceases to amaze me how any human being can look at another living being suffering and not do anything about it. The owner probably got into a bad cycle for whatever reason and it got out of control, but to dump him in a ditch when he can't even walk, see or feed himself is just unbelievable to me. He could have easily succumbed to any number of hazards.

I'm glad Ripley was found in order to enjoy the benefit of being helped by kind people, and hope he goes on to have a wonderful life.

So glad the rescuers chose that name for him - looks like the actual Ripley's Believe it or Not people are stepping up to help him AND he's going to be featured in their 2012 edition. Yay, Ripley! :goodvibes Thank goodness for a happy ending now and then.

I do know that they got the two teenagers responsible for this, I am sure nothing much will happen to them  They are keeping him at the Vet for about a week for observation. I just watched the video from the latest report and now they also say the teenagers first poured hot wax on the kitten then microwaved it for 10 seconds then threw him in the microwave out the third story window  On a Happy Note they said the phone has been ringing off the hook to help this little kitty and more than likely will be adopted :):):) Here is a link its on the video section on the right you just have to arrow to the right a couple of times
