Allan Melvin, a popular character actor whose credits include "The Brady Bunch", "The Phil Silvers Show" and "Magilla Gorilla" died Thursday in Brentwood. He was 84.

Allan Melvin, a character actor best known for playing Sam the Butcher on "The Brady Bunch," has died. He was 84.

Melvin died of cancer Thursday at his home in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles, said Amalia Melvin, his wife of 64 years.

Actress Helen Wagner, who played mild-mannered Nancy Hughes on the CBS soap opera "As the World Turns" for more than a half-century and spoke its first words, has died at age 91.



Actress Lynn Redgrave has died at age 67 from breast cancer.

I have watched As the World Turns almost my entire life and I will dearly miss Helen Wagner aka Nancy Hughes. She was a true lady and the perfect grandmother type. She will be missed.

R.I.P. to the Holy Diver, the Last In Line, The Rainbow In The Dark, Ronnie James Dio. He wasnt the most talented, he wasnt the best singer, he couldnt ever be mistaken as handsome....but every headbanger in the 80s placed him in the Heavy Metal God category...he definately carved his notch into rock history with a dull rusted knife.

The singer, known for his work with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell and his own band, Dio, died less than a year after being diagnosed with stomach cancer. He was 67.
