RIP Thread

I'd like to know who this woman knows that she is being cleared of everything she's gotten into???

I'm here and we haven't moved to Florida yet...retirement is still about 5 years away :(

I still work at UAH. Yesterday had a very scary situation with a very sad ending. It happened in the building next to me. Our faculty was in a meeting on the 1st floor and I was the only staff left on the 3rd floor of our wing. I got a call about 4:05 from the assistant dean and he said to turn out my lights and take cover because there was a shooter on the campus and he didn't know the details yet. I rushed, I grabbed my cell, locked all the office doors and turned out the lights and found a hidden spot in one of the rooms in our suite. I was scared to death...I could hear my heart pounding! Right as I got settled, my husband called (most of you know he's a cop)...he called and told me the same thing and that he was on his way. He also told me to put my cell on silent...that didn't even cross my mind! It was only a few minutes but it felt like an eternity until he and the faculty showed up in my office. We stayed under lockdown until 5:30. There were no classes in our building on a Friday afternoon so no students were around. But I understand there were some students in the building with the shooter. Please keep them and the faculty in your prayers, I can only imagine what they are going through.

I know the two critically injured and was aquainted with a couple of the fatalities. Please keep the victims and families in your prayers.

OMG...you must have been terrified. It was scary just reading your post. I'm so glad to hear you're safe. I'm sorry you had to go through this. Thank goodness you're physically okay. Will keep your colleagues in my prayers. Keep us posted.

The news is driving me crazy about this UAH shooting. This woman wanted attention and she's getting it. The 30 minute newscast started at 10pm and now it is 10:18 and that was all they talked about!!! Yes, it was a tragedy, and I truly feel for the victims, but enough already. All this does is fuel things for the defense to drag out the trial, try to change the venue, and try to get something positive for the shooter to get her off.

Watching the news now and it seems they've miraculously "found" the records of the case from when she shot/killed her brother in MA 20 years ago.

The MA D.A. has reviewed the file and is now saying that probable cause DID exist to press charges at the time, and the former DA is now backtracking on the decision made at the time, claiming he didn't have all the facts. :confused3

Lots of info coming out on her now, sounds pretty anti social ( I would use my other words if this wasnt a polite discussion... ;) )

RIP Really old guy driving the clunker on main street in the picture in the other thread.

I am so glad you are OK. I can't imagine how terrifying it had to have been. We know so many of the kids that go there, as well as the softball coaches, and it is still hard to believe what happened. The victims, their families, as well as the students and staff will continue to be in my prayers.

Lionel Jeffries who portrayed Grandpa Potts in that bizarre movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

R.I.P. Staff Sgt. John Reiners. Local 24 year old man killed in Afghanistan last week. Left behind a wife and son. :sad1:

Vernon Hunter, age 68, the IRS employee who was killed by the suidical moran who crashed his single-engine plane into a building with 300 people in it in Austin, Texas this week, because there were IRS offices in the building (among others) and he was angry with the IRS. Hunter was a volunteer safety coordinator for his floor of the building.

Hunter was adopted when he was two months old and joined the Army after high school. He grew up to be a husband, father, grandfather and church member who worked to help other people resolve their problems with the IRS, where he worked for more than 20 years. He was a Vietnam veteran who retired after 20 years in the military and served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

He will receive a full military funeral with honors and burial in the Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.

Too bad, but I am glad they found him and his family can stop searching.

I had no idea "Chekov" was his father.

What a shame, how very sad for his family.:sad1:

I didn't know anything of Andrew Koenig, but most of us grew up with his dad, Walter, as the spunky Russian on Star Trek. How sad for this family.
