You were the epitome of class and grace. :sad1:

Holy heck, I am floored how quickly this happened after her announcment. Just so sad.

Me too. I thought this morning on the Early Show they said that her doctor said she had "weeks to live". :(

They said yesterday she stopped treatments last week, but kept it quiet until rumors started leaking out...so she released a statment yesterday.

I guess she passed this morning. :(

The doctor probably told her ad her family that it could be a matter of days TO weeks. Sadly, I have heard that a few times and never did the person make it more than a couple of days. I don't think it would have been in very good taste to announce that she most likely only had days left.

I guessed based on certain details that were put out that her passing might be expected to come quickly -- especially that the cancer had metastasized to her liver, and that John Edwards was staying in the home. I suspected that that meant that he needed to be there for the children when she passed.

My family has a long history with cancer, and both my father and brother died within days of the confirmation that their cancers had spread to the liver.

My thoughts are with her children, especially the younger ones. They are at the very most difficult age at which to lose a parent.

RIP

I wasn't surprised it was this soon, I figured once it was announced it would be quick.

I always thought she was a classy woman.

so very sorry to hear of her passing. May she finally have the peace she so deserves. A classy lady in the face of scandal that she did not deserve.

Prayers to her family.

She's been through so much, from losing her son to the cancer and the scandal. She had strength and grace. My prayers are with her children.

....OMG, how sad....she showed so much dignity, strength and courage....RIP...

I'm really sad to hear about her passing. After the announcement yesterday, I have been following the on-line news reports because I had a feeling that it would be soon. Very few public people have an impact on me but she was someone that I followed her life. Maybe it was because she only lived about 1 1/2 hours from my previous home so she felt like a local to me. She was a very gracious lady and one I always respected.

My heart goes out to her family and friends.

Makes you wonder what John had to say to her before she went. Hopefully, he will raise her children the way she would want him to. I feel so sad for all of them. If he goes to prison over his political issues, what then for the kids?

Very sad for her children.
She had a courageous fight and handled it with grace.

I pray that her family can somehow get thru this very difficult sad time and somehow pull together to live full and happy lives. I'm sure she would have wanted that for them.
Rest In Peace Elizabeth! :sad1:

And to all those that are "fighting" the fight, be strong, have hope.........and God Bless! :grouphug:

I was having a late lunch alone when I decided to check my email on my iphone and received this news.

I truly was shocked. My mother lived for well over 2 years after her breast cancer metastasized to her liver so that alone did not imply imminent death to me. My mother's chemo was also stopped many months before her death as it was no longer working. And my mother was much older than Elizabeth.

So I just assumed that she was heading downward, but had no clue that it would be so sudden.

As for John - I'd personally like to see a few of his body parts be removed with a rusty dull knife. What a disgusting excuse for a human being.

My best friend (about same age) is battling terminal brain cancer right now. Her husband's courage, support, and strength are just unbelievable. What a difference it makes to have your life partner really honor that "sickness and health" vow.
