RIP Bob Newhart

Oh, I love Bob Newhart. When I was a young teen we went to LA and saw a taping of "Newhart." I liked that show, but I really loved "The Bob Newhart Show." It was before my time, but Nick at Nite used to have reruns my Dad and I would watch together. I remember watching in my college dorm and missing home. And when he guest starred on "The Big Bang Theory" I think I actually squealed in excitement! His comedic timing and delivery were just brilliant.

Thank you, Mr. Newhart for all of the joy and laughs. You will be sorely missed.

That’s great. I’m old enough to remember “The Bob Newhart Show” in its first run. When I was in college (early 80’s), kids in the dorm played a drinking game, known as “Hi Bob”, while watching the reruns. :hyper:

I also enjoyed his second sitcom, “Newhart”. That show’s finale was genius, with a scene of Bob in bed, waking up next to Suzanne Pleshette, who played his wife in “The Bob Newhart Show”.

Best series finale EVER!!

Bob Newhart: A Legacy of Laughter,” an “Entertainment Tonight” special paying tribute to the comedy icon following his recent death, hit 4.1 million viewers on CBS on Monday.

That made it the most-watched program in its 8 p.m. timeslot — surpassing the viewership of “American Ninja Warrior” (2.7 million viewers on NBC), “The Bachelorette” (2.6 million viewers on ABC), “Name That Tune” (1.4 million viewers on Fox) and “All American: Homecoming” (322,000 viewers on the CW) — and the most-watched program of the night when excluding sports telecasts.

I was lucky enough to see it, I had no idea they were airing it until that evening. I really enjoyed watching it. So happy to hear the show got the ratings it deserved.

He really was one of our treasures. I put him along side Betty White and Dolly Parton. Bob Newhart was one of those celebrities that everyone liked. You never heard someone saying oh that Bob Newhart is a pompous jerk. I hope he is enjoying the afterlife with his wife Ginny and best friend, Don Rickles.
