Ringing in the New Year - Jan '12 TR - UPDATED Sept 4 I BROKE MY FOOT**

Mmmmm that Carmel shop is one of my favorites! I've never tried the cookies before but it sure did look good. Maybe we'll use a snack credit on one next time.

The cookie was delicious, I was just telling Danielle today that when I go in September I think I might be feeling a Brownie or the Chocolate Cookie...
really anything with caramel is too yummy to pass up

CHAPTER 10 – Le Cellier aka The Cellar

We had quite a wait when we arrived at Le Cellier despite the fact that we arrived 15 minutes prior to our ADR which was at 12:15, while we waited we saw numerous families come in and try to get a walk-up, the hostess would politely tell them they were full for the month but that they highly recommended the food in China, Germany, and France.
While we waited for a table to become available we played trivia games both Canadian and Disney, Le Cellier was giving out restaurant stickers as prizes.

disney20122485.jpg

We waited an additional 30 minutes past our ADR and were then seated in British Columbia.
We were seated at 12:45.
Our servers name was Lauren as well; apparently it was a popular name in 1985 because she was the fifth person born the same year as me with my name, Lauren was from Niagara Falls, the Canadian side :)

DM browsed the menu for wine while we ordered our drinks.

dscf3846z.jpg

For lunch Danielle and I opted for the Niagara Refresher and the Red Maple

dscf3840gy.jpg

dscf3842.jpg

One with the flash on :ssst:

dscf3843b.jpg

We tried both of them and we both preferred the Niagara Refresher, it was fruity and mangoy, although we love mango I don`t know that they are grown in Canada at all.

I ordered from the Prix Fixe Menu since it was the best bang for my credit and needed to try the soup anyway.
I ordered the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup as my appetizer

dscf3845.jpg

Sorry for the pic, I already had to dig in before I forgot to take a picture. After waiting for almost an hour for lunch I was starving.

I choose the Le Cellier House Burger and my entree.

dscf3848t.jpg

For dessert I got the Maple Crème Brulee.

dscf3856x.jpg

This meal was so good, especially considering that I only had a hamburger but it was so much more than a hamburger, it was like a little patty from heaven :littleangel: the soup had to be my most favourite part of the meal though, I am a huge soup fan.

Danielle chose to have the New York Strip Steak served with Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes.

dscf3850.jpg

She loves those mashed potatoes we always have them at Thanksgiving as a special treat and what is more special than the opportunity to have them in Disney.

For dessert she ordered the Chocolate Whiskey Cake, she ate it all so it must have been good.

dscf3857x.jpg

It was so dark in there, we were seated in the very back left corner, that I didn’t get any pictures of DM or DD food, however, I did snag a picture of the appetizer DM insisted we order as she is a proud French-Canadian, as well as their beverages. She wanted to see the Disney take on Poutine and although it was delicious she was a little disappointed since they weren’t white cheese curds.

dscf3851t.jpg

DM choose a red wine from back home, she was feeling a little homesick I suppose.

dscf3847z.jpg

DD got his classic Diet Coke

dscf3844m.jpg

For lunch we paid OOP for DM wine and the poutine, everything else was included on the DDP.
After our yummy lunch we headed back to the rooms to freshen up, warm up, and catch some quick zzz’s. We needed to bundle up for the exciting night ahead of us.

All the dishes looked great. LeCellier is my all time favorite.

Us too!!
The last time we had ADRs I felt so sick and couldn't even go:sad: It was our last Disney meal and I was so upset. Danielle explained everything to our waiter and he ended up making me an entire to-go meal. Pretzel break sticks and soup in a cup included!

I'm curious as to where your mom is from as I am originally from Montreal myself and that does not really resemble poutine in my eyes. :lmao: I tired to get us an ADR at Le Cellier this trip but no dice. :(

Mom lived just outside Quebec City in Montmagny, but they moved down here before she started school so our Pepe could start his own garage.
The waitress insisted that they were cheese curds, but that they were just orange. The gravy was also not like regular poutine gravy, it was good but it was nothing like home.
We had to get lunch reservations because dinner was near impossible, we thought it would be easier now since it became a signature but no luck.
If you really want to go keep trying, people cancel all the time, Danielle just got reservations for Ohana finally for her end of August trip.

Mmmmmmm that Le Cellier food looks so great! We haven't been able to secure an ADR ever since they made the dinner a two TS credit, since we just can't justify spending two credits on something we can get at lunch for one.

The meal between dinner and lunch is slightly different, most noticable is the portion size variations between lunch and dinner.
We quite enjoyed lunch the atmosphere was still the same and really we find Disney portions to be huge to begin with.
Lunch was an excellent use of DP credits, we never break down for the 2 TS meals.

Le Cellier looks awesome! I'm going there for the first time on my next trip, I'm so excited! FOOD.

I read on my friend's TR that on one trip, she went to Le Cellier twice, once for lunch, and once for dinner. Both times she ordered the exact same meal, and she got poutine. She said that the lunch version was different than the dinner version! I think she liked the dinner version better. :confused3

OMG I cannot believe it is your first time, enjoy ENJOY enjoy :goodvibes
I am just like your friend I usually order the same thing at the same places :rotfl2: I'm so boring. The poutine was good
I imagine they put a little more effort in for the dinner crowd since they pay the big bucks.
Have so much fun on your next trip, it is coming so soon.

Chapter 11 – Ichi, Ni, San

After looking through my trip journal I realized that I got ahead of myself in the last chapter
after lunch we actually putzed around the rest of the world before returning to our hotel room.

disney20122497.jpg

We looked through Canada; we always think it is interesting to see the items that they choose to represent the various countries.

dscf3858q.jpg

We particularly likes the selected Canadian attire.

Danielle and been looking at getting a pearl so we went to Japan to check out the line.
Danielle waited for her turn while she kept her eyes on her prize and selected the perfect oyster for her.

dscf3859b.jpg

Once she opened her oyster ichi, ni, san (1,2,3) TADA a 7.5 golden pearl!!

dscf3864u.jpg

dscf3863v.jpg

dscf3865g.jpg

The selected her setting and they told her it would be ready after 7:00 that night. We explored Japan then moved on.

disney20122500.jpg

We walked on through France and after going about 30 mins without a beverage the Disney Parents opted on some class act champagne :drinking1.

disney20122493.jpg

I’m not sure which selection they choose but my DM loved it

disney20122496.jpg

Now we were ready to go back to the room for a clothing change and a quick rest.

Real Life UpDate - Trip to Toronto and Ottawa

Sorry for our recent disappearance from the DIS, Danielle and I went on a quick family trip up to Toronto to visit our parents and the to Ottawa to see our Aunt and Uncle for the big 50th wedding anniversary .

We rode the Via train to TO and had a delicious train lunch.

img2012070600155.jpg

img2012070600156.jpg

img2012070600157.jpg

The small slice of coconut cheesecake in the top left corner was so yummy.

After we got to TO we did some shopping, I popped into the Hockey Hall of Fame to get a gift for my DBF for staying home and watching the dog.

img2012070600166.jpg

img2012070600167.jpg

We went to a shady movie theater to see BRAVE while we waited for Dad to get off work. We loved the ode to Disney as we went down to the basement to see our movie.

img2012070600165.jpg

img2012070600163.jpg

img2012070600162.jpg

BRAVE was so cute, I loved it. Even the guy infront of us got a little teary-eyed at the end, he must have loved his mommy.

Once DD got home from work the rents surprised us with dinner at the CN Tower in the 360 Restaurant.

img2012070800196.jpg

img2012070600168.jpg

If you ever go to TO and want to see the CN Tower the 360 Restaurant is an excellent deal. The have a prix fixe menu just like France in Epcot, and included in your meal price is also admit to the tower, you end up getting an excellent meal for only $20.00 since tower admit cost $30 alone.

Appetizers

Cesear Salad

And stand on the glass floor, that is the Rogers Center waaaayy down there

img2012070600192.jpg

Now back to our regular scheduled programming :offtopic:

Looks like you had a fun trip. How did you stand on that floor?! Just looking at the picture made my legs turn to Jello:scared:

It was nuts, there were lots of people sprawled out on it taking crazy pictures, I hopped on real quick got a shot and hopped off.
Now we are back in Disney mood since Lauren's trip is coming up very soon, I am still waiting for my DBF to figure out if our date is okay for him to go
KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED FOR ME :shamrock:

Chapter 12 – Is this Florida?

*We apologize for the lack of pictures in this portion of the TR, it was so cold out we could not even get our hands free to use the camera. Things will pick up again in the next post.

We returned to our room to defrost for our magical evening. Around 6:00 Danielle and I began to prepare both mentally and physically to enter the bitter cold that awaited us outside. We bundled up in our best attempt to avoid hypothermia and frost bite, after all we wanted to return to Canada with all 10 fingers and toes.

disney20122515.jpg

We had on all the clothes we had brought with us, as well as 2 pairs of gloves and our Olympic mittens, bending arms or wearing a backpack was certainly not an option tonight... this was as good as it was going to get, it was Disney and we were determined to have fun.

We arrived at MK at 6:30 with our parents close behind. Dad was extremely disappointed in the “Florida” weather since he had only packed one sweater and a light jacket, silly Daddy. We made a beeline for the train, which in hindsight was a chilly idea.

disney20122553.jpg

We rode the train and bypassed the crowds to Frontierland. We exited into the brisk air and headed straight for Splash Mountain... KIDDING!! :rotfl2:

There was no line though, wait time was 0 min if you were brave enough to dare. We walked over to PoC and then did BTMRR a couple times till we could no longer feel our faces. We headed over the HM to warm up in the company of some friendly ghosts. We browsed through the Christmas store along with 1000 other chilly patrons and then exited to watch TMTM&Y and HWishes.

disney20122545.jpg

disney20122548.jpg

TMTM&Ywas one of the most beautiful shows we have ever watched, it is so inspirational. There was not a dry eye in the house. We took our gloves off and made the ultimate sacrifice to capture these moments.

disney20122553.jpg

Afterwards we headed for the bus for the chilliest 10 min wait ever, and you better believe I was watching the clock. The bus arrived; thankfully he had the heat cranked. The ride home was a long ride filled with annoying loud obnoxious children with loud obnoxious voices. :hyper2: They were obviously socializing but had I been a parent of these children I would have asked them to keep their voice down since they were announcing their room numbers to the entire bus. If you are out there Room #3814 and #2711 at POR on January 3, your children need to practice their inside voices.

We were a little peckish after we got home since lunch had been so long ago we went to the
Riverside Mill Food Court to check out the selection.
OMG we hit the jackpot, best pasta ever. We both selected the create your own pasta
Danielle and I opted for penne with chicken and alfredo sauce, we added peas and broccoli. The girl making the pasta was so nice, she asked if we were splitting and when we responded yes she gave us an extra bread slice free of charge. This picture is one half of the meal, both plates looked the same. The pasta came in the box.

dscf3890.jpg

Dad opted for Fettuccini with a pesto sauce with prosciutto, roasted red peppers, sun dried tomatoes, and mushrooms. He wasn’t a fan of the bread, he said it was too crunchy, so Danielle and I helped him with that.

dscf3887z.jpg

Mom had the penne with a blush sauce (combo tomato and alfredo sauce) she also added chicken along with prosciutto, artichoke hearts, peas, and spinach. She and dad had ended up wishing they would have split this meal between them as it was later in the evening and the pasta was very filling.

dscf3888e.jpg

We got yogurt and water with the dining plan and saved both for the next morning. We used our resort mugs for our beverages.

After dinner we headed back to the rooms to shower and warm up, we watched some Phineas and Ferb while we got ready for bed, lights out by 11:00pm. The chilly Disney had defeated us; we went to sleep with the hopes of a warmer day tomorrow.

Us too, we had checked the weather before we left but I guess we didn't realized how cold it was really going to be.
I don't think we will be planning a January trip anytime soon.
Thanks for reading along :flower3:
