Wow, I really can't believe it was so cold out! That is so un-Disney like hahaha.

The Magic, the Memories, and You is SUCH a great show, right? I mean good grief. It's wonderful!

That corn bread looks really good! :thumbsup2

 it was so un-Disney like, and here we thought they made their own weather there, the weather machine must have been broken :rotfl:

We loved the MMAY show, it was the first time we ever saw it, it totally blew our Mom's mind, she loved the part with all the pictures on the castle.

The cornbread was delicious :cloud9: but if we are being honest, I thought the sugar was a little high and cut out a quarter cup, yummy yummy and with less calories :)

Mmmmmm that corn bread looks delish!! I'll have to try the recipe.

I highly recommend it, this is our favourite corn bread we love Whispering Canyon bread mmmmmm.
It only took me 30 mins from start to finish to whip these puppies up, nice and hot and fresh :woohoo:

CHAPTER 13 - A CHILLY RECEPTION

January 4, 2012
Weather: 34° - felt like 27° with wind chill :cold:

We woke up today bright and early at 7:00 with exciting news on the television, it was still freezing outside and everyone was worried about the strawberry crops because they were freezing in the field. We got ready and ate our yogurts from last night’s CS dessert for breakfast; DD donated his yogurt to our cause since he is a coffee in the morning kind of guy.
We were out the door by 7:35; we had EMH at AK to catch at 8:00.
We arrived at AK just after 8:00; the buses were running a little slow this morning. We headed straight to KS to get FP for the morning safari; we always have had really good luck early in the morning with fabulous animal activities. Afterwards we walked to EE but it was closed right now due to cold :( so we continued on to DINOSAUR. On the way we noticed the garden crew rolling up the heaters and the plastic tarps they were using to keep the plants alive during the chilly Florida evenings.

We piled into our DINO machine and went back in time.

Danielle found this little jem when we left DINO, she loved it. There was no tag for her DBF name but good thing there is Jesus.

dscf3897a.jpg

Once we had our DINO fill we went back to EE, and success!! It was back in action, Danielle and DM got in line. Danielle stopped by to take a picture with her ultimate adventurer, JOSH GATES!!!
We love Destination Truth and are HUGEEEE FANS!!!
If someone from OLN is reading this please quit jerking Canadians around and just leave Josh alone, his show rocks, we like the 11:00 pm showing.

dscf3898w.jpg

DD and I waited since we were almost at our time to be able to get new FP, at 9:15 we grabbed FP for EE for the entire family. Dad snapped some shots while we waited for our party to return.

After we were all done we headed towards Tusker House for breakfast, we were running a little late seeing as it was 9:20 and we had to check-in in 5 minutes. Will we make it in time? Stay tuned

Hahah well thank goodness we know where Jesus gets his souvenirs!

UGH I still can't believe it was that cold! It's crazy! I mean, I've been in December twice, and I cannot even imagine having to wear GLOVES. Gosh. (Sorry... this is all I talk about, isn't it?) Hahah.

No worries, it was all we could think about while we were there. We cannot stress enough that it was COLD. Not like Florida cold, but Arctic cold. Even experienced Canadian's such as ourselves could not survive in that weather for long periods of time.
Everyone says it is still nice in the Winter; but after our chilly January experience I doubt we'll be returning during that time of the year in the near future.

Oh my goodness; I cannot believe it was that cold when you were there! I don't think I have ever seen the flowers need to be covered up with blowers on them at night. That is just crazy:eek:!
Your DINOSAUR picture is so funny, lucky to get the front of the car.

Dad took that picture of the men with the flowers, he is always thinking.
It was crazy cold, it was so sad when we went to MK the next day all the cacti at BTMRR had died they looked all shrilved and mushy, we didn't get a picture of them I don't think. The cold kept the lines down in the early morning and late evenings though, we got some pretty good seats on most of the rides.
Hang in there, I'm working on some new posts for tonight

CHAPTER 14 – JAMBO, TUSKER HOUSE

We arrived 9 minutes late and checked in at 9:34. There was a gigantic line, so much so that they had CM’s outside serving hot chocolate and breakfast treats. We stood under the warmth of a patio heater while we waited to be summoned by the main man, or duck, Donald.

disney20122580.jpg

There were lots a people watching to be had as everyone was milling around. We saw one gentleman walking around with his 2 y/o daughter on his shoulders, he walked right into one of the thatch umbrellas they had set up and smacked her head off of it, when she proceeded to cry he scolded her for not looking out for herself.
We laughed to ourselves under our own heater, some people

disney20122581.jpg

Finally, JAMBO!!! I felt like I was on PisR, COME ON DOWN!!! It was time for food. We got a quick picture with Donald; they would not let us pass without one, even though we never had any intentions of buying the picture, here is our DIY picture.

disney20122578.jpg

We headed to our table and were told our server would be with us shortly. When she arrived we were pleasantly surprised, she was from right now they road from home, we forgot to write down her name but she was from Tilbury, ON. We discussed the 401 Highway and the Tilbury Auto Mall, it was nice to talk with someone from home. She explained the menu and the characters and then we were on our way.

My first plate starting at the obvious - Mickey waffle, bacon, eggs, blueberry muffin, potatoes, tater tots

Danielle's Plate - Eggs, Potatoes, Chocolate Croissant, bacon

dscf3903c.jpg

DD's Plate - Mickey Waffle, breakfast pizza thing, cinnamon roll, peameal bacon under sausage rounds, potatoes, and tater tots

dscf3904n.jpg

DM's Plate - Boring, the same as everyone elses

dscf3905g.jpg

The characters followed by very close together, it was nice since we got the visits out of the way. Goofy, and Daisy stopped by first.

disney20122584.jpg

disney20122585.jpg

After Daisy they announced the musical parade in the restaurant, Danielle was wondering why they had to give them such loud instruments, she thought it would be better to give the kids nice dance ribbons, I told her I’m sure she could put that in the suggestion box on the way out. Danielle and I took this as an opportunity for more food.

Mom wanted to try the bread pudding and was pleasantly surprised. She also opted for some plantain banana, not so good. The banana bread was normal.

dscf3911pw.jpg

After the parade Mickey stopped by, we visited with him then we were on our way to the safari.

disney20122586.jpg

disney20122587.jpg

Brunch at the Tusker House is always delicious and fun, they have an excellent selection and we never seem to have to wait long for characters. The food lines move quickly due to the large open buffet area, this restaurant is definitely a family favourite.
I am sad to say that on our next trip in September we actually changed our reservations and Tusker House had to be sacrificed, I will miss it.

CHAPTER 15 – HAKUNA MATATA

After brunch we headed over the KS to catch our truck out onto the savannah, we stopped for new FP before getting on so we would have some for later. We always have an excellent time on our early morning safaris, we got on around 11ish.

After KS we headed over to DINO and went back in time ONE MORE TIME, it was excellent as per usual.

The lines were pretty short this morning because of the cold. FP machines were still having a hard time though so CM’s were handing out FP again based on park admission tickets. After DINO we went to IABL, like our snazzy bug glasses.

disney20122605.jpg

After IABL we headed toward KS for one last adventure, since it was starting to warm up a little the animals were move active. It was nice to see them back in a normalish temperature, they were probably wondering what the hizzy that morning?

DEVINE!!!

disney20122638.jpg

disney20122639.jpg

She was so beautiful and elegant, it was nice to finally see her in person, pictures cannot do her justice to how graceful she is.
When we got back to our rooms, our parents were surprised with these cute little lovey towel animals

disney20122642.jpg

we snapped a pic of building 38 for all those that were curious as to what it looked like, it looked the same as building 37 except with different coloured trim.

We warmed up and got changed for our night out at Fantasmic!!

Tusker House sounds like it was great! And the food looks really good... that bacon actually looks edible! What are the odds?

For some reason I'm really obsessed with It's Tough To Be A Bug... I have no idea why, but I just LOVE it. I always want to keep the little bug glasses.

Sounds like a fun day!!

Wow, it looks like you had a great time at AK. I remember the first time DH and I saw Devine we debated about whether she was real or not because she wasn't moving :rotfl:

What weather site did you use to check the weather before you left for your January trip and how accurate was it? I just want to make sure we are prepared for our trip like you were with gloves, hats, etc... if need be.

We love Tusker House, I am kind of sad that we decided the cross it off our reservation list for this September.
The bacon was pretty good, we always go for the more cooked pieces, we find that helps.
We love bugs life too, although I kind of cheat a little since I don't sit all the way back in my seat, that one little surprise hurts me sometimes,
I am a sensitive flower :rotfl:
You are on your less than a week count down, how excited are you?!?!

She was amazing, we had always seen pictures but never the real thing. Danielle was so funny, she was determined this time to see her, she kept walking around the park calling her name. We saw her on the way out right by the stroller place. Everyone kept running up to her to check her out, it was tough to get a really good picture.

We used the link on the Allears website http://allears.net/pl/weather.htm . We also checked on our ipod weather app, The Weather Network, however this changes hourly so we had a tough time really narrowing it down. I think our biggest issue was we packed with wishful thinking and didn't bring a real coat, just jackets. Best advice I can give is, if you can bring coats, and you would be wearing a coat at home at that temperature, then bring a coat, we opted for light packing and regreted no coats, it is tough to manage a coat when you are flying down but it would have definately been worth it this January.

I can't believe you saw Divine! I have been searching for her for years with out any luck.
She sure looks beautiful in the photos.

I am just guessing but we saw her very close to the CM gate near the stroller rentals, I don't think she ventures very far from the CM enterances.
I wonder if its just too hard for her to walk throughout the park.

Awesome report!! I just found it today. Can't wait to read more!!

:thanks:
We love to welcome new readers
I am trying to knock this TR out quickly since we are going again in just over a month. Stay tuned, we will be updated daily.
