Ringing in 2010, 6 months til we'll be back again

It feels like spring here today, too! :yay:

Trent may roll his eyes, but he will get a kick out of the boxes anyway! Have fun with your family today! :goodvibes

It was still kind of cool here, but beautiful.

We did have fun. Jill and I are done for the day, but everybody else is just now starting to play video games for the night.

I love your family fun MeMom! I can't wait to see the pictures!

Coming up. :)

Are we interested in seeing the pictures? Of course we are. I hope you have a blast and I can't wait to see all the fun.

It was so silly, and it was fun watching everyone decorate downstairs while Trent wondered what in the world was going on.

Memom I would love to see the pictures of your family fun night. We are having a family fun day tomorrow. We are going to see Disney on Ice 100 Years of Magic.

You'll love the ice show! It's a great Disney fix! :dance3:

have fun decorating boxes!!! sounds like a good plan. :thumbsup2

I got your Margot picture while we were hanging out tonight. I know she had a big day! :goodvibes

Mmmmmm....choc chip waffles!

I'm trying my new Mickey waffle iron out tomorrow! :woohoo:

What a great idea to give Trent the boxes. He will be thrilled to have all those necessities! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to guess who's boxes are who's....:scratchin

Enjoy your fun evening with the whole gang! :goodvibes

Yay for your first homemade Mickey waffle! :woohoo:

I hope you can see them good enough in the pictures.

It felt like spring here, too, finally! It was at least in the mid-50's, it was gorgeous. I am so looking forward to spring.

I love the idea of decorating and filling the boxes for Trent! Can't wait to see pictures :goodvibes

We had to do something besides just put the food in sacks. That's no fun.

I love the pins! The only thing is, is that it's so hard to pick one!! SO many choices, so little money! Can't wait to see the care packages that you created!

It is hard to pick one. I like looking at the pictures of them and thinking about what I might get next. I think the Maelstrom one will be coming soon.

Sounds like a fun family day! And OF COURSE we're interested in pictures!! :)

You're easily entertained, but here they come!

First of all, here is Brooklynn proudly displaying her puzzle-making skills.

And Bella and Jill, just posing because I wanted a picture.

March2010002.jpg

Those are from a couple of weeks ago when they were here.

So tonight was the night we were all eating together for a hangout/see you later meal for Trent. We know it'll be fewer and further between times that we see him, but it's definitely not goodbye.

Since we needed to have some Disney representation, we decided a Cars touch would be appropriate. Here's some of the food we had.

March2010004.jpg

March2010005.jpg

There were also chicken nuggets, salad, crispy crowns, corn, and green beans over on the stove and counter.

In the kitchen.

March2010007.jpg

After we ate, Trent was banished from downstairs while we worked. His friend, Spencer, kept him company while we all worked. I never did get a picture of him, but Spencer is the one who housesits and catsits for us when we are on our trips. He's a good, good guy.

March2010008.jpg

I had bought a bunch of food, and everyone got to pick what they wanted in their boxes. Brandon and Jarvis got a little creative and brought some things in from the Hummer. I'll tell you about those later.

March2010009.jpg

March2010010.jpg

Parker helped Mommy and Daddy put things in the box.

March2010011.jpg

Jamie and Brooklynn shared a box.

March2010012.jpg

It looked like the kids' school food drives from back when.

March2010013.jpg

Parker really loved filling the boxes.

March2010014.jpg

Everyone had their own creative styles.

March2010015.jpg

March2010016.jpg

John held Bella up out of the frenzy, but she would have been a happy girl down in the middle of all that crinkly paper!

March2010017.jpg

Brandon and Jarvis took the project very seriously as they wrapped.

Drew finally showed up and laughed at what we were doing.

this is so fun! and i spied a huge bottle of Downy Wrinkle Release in the midst of all the supplies :thumbsup2

Good job on the puzzle Brooklynn! :goodvibes Love the picture of Jill and Bella.

What a fun night! Everyone did a great job decorating their boxes!

Any idea what is in here?

March2010029.jpg

If you guessed 6 large jars of crunchy peanut butter, you are correct.
Jill is the best sister a peanut butter lovin' boy can have.

Bella is allowed down when the scissors and glue are put up.

March2010037.jpg

Trent starts guessing who did what.

March2010038.jpg

Trent had no clue what would be in the boxes.

Spencer had to go, so he wasn't here for the friends picture.

March2010049.jpg

Drew talked to Sloan about photography.

March2010052.jpg

Parker talked to Jamie about Ben Dog.

March2010053.jpg

All in all, it was a fun night. Trent got lots of food to take with him, so now all he has to worry about is the perishables when he gets there. He got mac and cheese, peas, rice, cereal, Pop-tarts, Nutrigrain bars, paper towels, shampoo, soap, dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, tuna, a bunch of other stuff, and plenty of peanut butter. He really did appreciate it, of course. It was a lighthearted, fun evening with no tears, just laughs.

Brandon and Jarvis threw in assorted wrappers from the car, a leaf, a ski cap that already belonged to Trent, and one of the bottles of glue we were using to decorate!

Anyway, that was our fun evening. I love my family, I am crazy about their friends, and I enjoy the good times we all have together. :)

What a fun way to say see you later, and best wishes. The pictures showed all the love that is shared by your family and friends. Trent is really blessed.

What a sweet & thoughtful get-together you had for Trent! Bella looked like she wanted to get down from the couch and join in on the fun!

Another fun evening at your house MeMom! I'm sure Bella would have wound up inside one of the boxes if she had been down on the floor!
What great pictures and I can't wait to meet the rest of the crew over the 4th of July!

I'll be thinking of you as the days go by this week I'm sure you will have some rough moments....

Your parties look like so much fun! I'm sure Trent will appreciate having all those necessities already purchased once he gets down there. :goodvibes

I'll be thinking of you guys this week. I know there will be some bittersweet and exciting moments!

Rachel

What a great party and box-filling, decorating activity!!! You know I laughed out loud about Jarvis and Brandon's additions to their box! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

So, Trent is leaving next weekend? Or sooner?

what a fun night! so glad you guys could get together and do this. i'm sure you will miss trent tons but at least he's moving relatively close to disney....a bonus for you guys! and thank goodness for free long distance and texting on cell phones!!! :)

oh, and such a good idea about the boxes. will have to remember that one in case anyone else i know ever moves away. kind of reminds me of what we did for our ex-roommate, johnny. johnny lived with ray and i for about 2 years before we were married. he was the best roommate EVER! and he literally only ate mac and cheese and chips ahoy chocolate chip cookies and milk. that's it! unless we took him somewhere and made him eat something else. anyway, he lives in tallahassee now and got married back in 2006. we got him a "real" wedding present but as a joke i filled a box up with mac and cheese and chips ahoy cookies and put a note in there to his new wife that said, "keep the pantry stocked with this and you'll have a happy johnny forever!"

this is hilarious! :rotfl:

this is so fun! and i spied a huge bottle of Downy Wrinkle Release in the midst of all the supplies :thumbsup2

Yep. He'll need a lot of that. Luckily, his job will allow him to wear the kind of clothes that don't need ironing, but he can use that for church and going out clothes.

When it's time for him to buy his own, he can check out the Dollar Store kind Jamie's mom was talking about. We just didn't have time to go to the Dollar Store, so I paid big bucks for the real stuff.

Good job on the puzzle Brooklynn! :goodvibes Love the picture of Jill and Bella.

What a fun night! Everyone did a great job decorating their boxes!

I love having the house full of life - lots of young people laughing and talking and eating. It costs a lot to feed a big crew, but it's worth every penny and more to have them around.

What a fun way to say see you later, and best wishes. The pictures showed all the love that is shared by your family and friends. Trent is really blessed.

I hope he feels blessed. He does have much love from us, and we have much from him.

Doggone, it, you made me start crying again! :upsidedow

I love your get-togethers and parties. That was such a good idea for Trent!

Maybe one time when you are traveling through this way, you can join us. We'd love to have everybody who ever comes through Nashville on the way to Disney World.

What a sweet & thoughtful get-together you had for Trent! Bella looked like she wanted to get down from the couch and join in on the fun!

She would have a great and very messy time down there. Thankfully, she seemed pretty satisfied just to watch all the action.

What a wonderful day and evening you had with your family!:goodvibes

Lots of fun and lots of food - it was a good night. :)

Another fun evening at your house MeMom! I'm sure Bella would have wound up inside one of the boxes if she had been down on the floor!

We're all looking forward to the Fourth. Hopefully, Trent and Jamie can meet you and others next week! :dance3:

I've been crying all morning back here in my bedroom, since the girls left. I know I am going to see Trent as often as possible, and I know this is a good move for him, and I know I like what I see in the way he and Jamie treat each other, so I know it is all good, but it's just going to be rough getting through this initial transition. I look like a raccoon with these dark circles under my eyes, and he's not even leaving until next Sunday! Silly me! Once he gets gone, I think it'll all work out just fine. If he had to move away, can't think of a better place he could have moved. Well, Huntsville, maybe, but you know what I mean. We'll get accustomed to the change after he leaves better than we're doing before he leaves, I think, if that makes sense.

The thought of you getting to see him for me next week makes me happy, so I hope that works out. Jamie is excited about it, too, so we'll let you know what kind of work schedule they have going next week as soon as they know.

Your parties look like so much fun! I'm sure Trent will appreciate having all those necessities already purchased once he gets down there. :goodvibes

Rachel

He was happy with everything. Now he just has to get his other must haves - chicken, eggs, salad, broccoli, bread, and milk. :)

Aw looks like it was a lot of fun, MeMom.

More fun than just handing him sacks full of groceries. We enjoyed it.

I really hope you guys can meet Trent and Jamie and Marc and Anita next week. A picture of all of you together will bring huge smiles for Jill and me. :goodvibes

What a great party and a great family you have!

I am very blessed with a great family. Very, very blessed.

What a great party and box-filling, decorating activity!!! You know I laughed out loud about Jarvis and Brandon's additions to their box! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

So, Trent is leaving next weekend? Or sooner?

Actually, I think Brandon and Jarvis enjoyed the box-filling activity as much as Parker. Parker loved it, and he was helping fill boxes everywhere. He was so cute.

He has a football game Saturday, so he's leaving Sunday. I think after he is actually gone, it'll all be fine. It's just the anticipation of it all, you know.

************************

I think we just have to face the fact that I am going to cry a lot this week, and that is to be expected, and it's all going to be okay. It's a good kind of crying, because he's going off to good things. :)

Jill and the girls and I are going to Memphis this weekend. I think she's coming up here Friday to see Trent one more time, and we'll leave early Saturday morning for the zoo. That way, when Trent leaves the house on Sunday, I won't be here to be bawling and making it hard for him, and when I leave him on Saturday, we'll be leaving to do something fun with the girls, and that'll make it easier on Jill and me, too. Sounds like a good plan all the way around.

this is hilarious! :rotfl:

Oh yeah, we forgot to tell you, we're coming to your house to meet in the middle sometimes! :dance3: All you need to have is peanut butter.

I'll just have to plan to make the four trips a year I wanted to anyway, and then if I'm real lucky, there could be another one or two. There was that year I ended up taking six trips, and that was without having a kid living there! :rotfl:

Aww MeMom, what a fun way to celebrate the next step in Trent's life! I know you will remain close even if physically not near each other!

What fun party you guys had! :)That is a great idea that you decorated boxes and he had to guess which one was which! It looks like he loved it! I like that the boys put in their own "special" gifts! I was cracking up! That is something I would do! I bet Trent would wish that you would fit in one of those boxes so you could go with him! I know it will be a tough week MeMom:hug:

What an awesome gift for your whole family! A night boxes, practicalities, laughs and love! I think the Memphis trip is the perfect idea for next weekend because I am sure the leaving will be hard on Trent too.

:grouphug: Cry all you need to here with us! We have plenty of love and support to go around.
