This is the first time I've done a trip report, so have patience A little background information first:
Trip Members:
Nicole (me) 28, 3rd time to Disney World. The ONLY Disney Lover in the family (but I think I have my 2 year old hooked )
James (DH) 33: 3rd time to Disney World. He does whatever makes me happy, therefore, he willingly joins me on all of our trips. He was spoiled with our first trip of having no children along, though.
Madison (DD) 6: 2nd trip to WDW. She has fun, but says she's been there, done that, and doesn't need to go again
Emilie (DD)2: First trip to WDW. She loves Mickey the best. It might just be her and me on future trips!
Ruth (Mom) 53: First trip to WDW. We brought her along with he and paid her way in return for some free time for DH and myself.
Denny (Step-Dad) 52: 1st time to WDW. Very frugal. Came along with my mom after offered a free hotel room.
For the remainder of our trip, we pretty much took things easy as far as getting up. Our goal was to be out of the hotel by 8:30. We headed to Magic Kingdom. One of the gifts that my parents received for Christmas was a photo package. So first thing we did was get pictures taken in front of the castle. We did them at two different distances. I strongly suggest this. That way you have more to choose from.
After we finished with that, we headed over to Frontierland to Madison's favorite ride, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We did the baby swap which was a great thing for Madison. James, Madison, and I rode the ride, then my parents rode. With baby swap you can take three people with you, so my parents took Madison. She got to ride twice in a row. Then we headed to Splash Mountain. It was quite chilly on Tuesday, but we were brave. We took Madison with us, and my parents watched. Madison was completely covered with James' pullover, so she didn't get wet except for a strand of hair. Madison wants us all to believe she hates this ride. However, it is our favorite, and we won't let her believe she hates it. At the end she said it wasn't fun, but she didn't know what she was talking about. Madison tends to be a little stubborn and once she doesn't like something, you aren't going to tell her she likes it. HOWEVER, she wrote in her Disney journal last night that it was her favorite ride in all of MK. She gave her father strict instructions NOT to tell me
We didn't get too wet, but my parents opted not to try this ride just yet. So, we headed to Adventureland. We road Pirates and everyone enjoyed that. Then we rode the Jungle Cruise. Now after being on the Safari ride in AK, it is hard to really enjoy Jungle Cruise and all of the "animals". But, I must say we had a GREAT time on the cruise. Our captain was so good at her job. She let a little boy drive, and she had the best sense of humor. Continuous jokes the whole time. Super! We then walked back towards Frontierland, and can I just tell you that I'm not an animal person? I dont' care for them at all. I especially don't like birds. I went for a walk once around a lake with my kids. There was a goose in the walkway about 3/4 of the way around. We turned around and walked back the other way. That is how much I don't like the little critters. Those birds in Frontierland are evil! They are greedy little things that will take your head off. I saw one lady throw a french fry and the bird caught it before it touched the ground. I didn't like the birds!
We ate lunch at the Pecos Bills....burger place. This was my step dad's favorite meal. How sad is that???? He loved the burger bar. It was quite good, but not good enough to be my favorite. After lunch we headed to Fantasyland and watched Merlin. While the family was doing this, Denny and I walked over to Space Mountain for fast passes. We rode the Tomorrowland Transit Authority while we waited for our fast pass time. Then James, Madison, and I rode Space Mountain. This was a little different for Madison because she wanted to sit in the middle of the row with James and me on either side of her. Didn't work that way. She did great, though, and loved the ride. She rode again with my parents.
Then it was time for the big event of the day. Denny, James, and Madison were going parasailing. James and Madison went together. Mr. Cheapo hubby loved it and would do it again. Madison, our brave little soul, cried the whole time because she was scared.
I think she enjoyed the experience and thought the view was neat, but was scared because of the dips. Mr Frugal, Denny, was given this adventure by his children for his birthday. We did the higher priced ride for him. He had a great time, was scared, would have never missed it for the world, and never needs to do it again
In the mean time, Mom, Emilie, and I stayed at MK and visited Toontown and did the Buzz Lightyear Space Adventure ride. Emilie loved Buzz. He's one of her favorites. She got to see Minnie again in Toontown. She time she kept her panties on, but decided to poke Minnie in the eye
Only Em!
We met up with the guys and changed their reservation for the carriage ride. Let me make a side note here. I planned way too much for my family. If it had been the four of us, it would have been great. Add the parents who've never any of it before, and they would have been content just traveling the parks. Oh well, lesson learned. We did some more exploring of the parks. We had an ice cream sandwich (MY FAVORITE!) then we hit a couple more rides. We saw Mickey's Philharmagic. This is my favorite attraction now. I think it sums up all of the Disney magic, and why I love Disney so much. I love Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Lion King, etc. It was all wrapped in one without scare, and with all of the adventure of the other 3-D shows! After a few more attractions, Mom and Denny took the girls and went off to Port Orleans to make their carriage ride.
James and I decided we wanted to close the park down and be one of the last to leave. We sat up by the castle for 30 minutes or so. Then decided to walk slowly down Main Street. We gave up. The stores were still packed. There were people everywhere. So, we headed towards the Boardwalk. Perfect timing. No wait for a bus.
One more side note here because it hasn't taken you quite a week to read this post yet
I always thought I'd love to stay at the Boardwalk. Now, I'm not so sure. It took forever to get there because of all of the stops before it. And, you share a bus with Swan and Dolphin which I always found full of business men. Not vacationers.
My parents loved their cold carriage ride and boat ride to Downtown Disney. They did not enjoy their bus ride there. Their carriage ride was at Port Orleans. I forgot to mention that PO is also Riverside. So, the bus says Port Orleans - Riverside. So, they stayed on the bus waiting to hear Port Orleans. At the last stop Denny went up and asked the driver where PO was. oops
So, they had to walk forever with two very tired children. They said it was very dark and hard to see. They finally saw people and asked directions. They just made their ride. And, they still love me!
