Okay, so it's been too long since I've ridden the rafts out to Tom Sawyer's Island. Pirates and their new lair nothwithstanding, what are the rafts like?

CM-propelled or you-drive-'em?

Smooth ride or jouncy/ wavy?

Seats or standing only?

Strollers allowed on board? If not, where's the best/ safest place to park them during "island time" (1-2 hours' worth)?

Thanks for any help/ stories! pirate:

There a couple places you can sit but they get taken rather quickly. After that, its standing room only.

Not exactly sure on that one.

no strollers, they get lined up along the railing at the entrance

It's only about a 3 minute trip to the island, so it's not bad standing. They don't allow strollers, so if you have a really little one, you'll have to carry him/her. There are a lot of benches on the island to sit on.

Word of warning - many of the caves/tunnels are not adult or toddler friendly. There are a lot of narrow tunnels with low overhangs that are hard to navigate if you are trying to keep up with a kid. There is also at least one place where you have to climb down a steep 3 or 4 step pool-style ladder going down about 2 1/2 feet. It could be a nasty fall for a little one.

My DD6 loves the new pirate theme. We usually spend about one hour there.

Hope that helps. Enjoy!

Wow-- thanks for the tip(s), everyone!

CinderellaMom, where exactly is that nasty drop? Is its cave/ entrance completly dark (I smell a potential lawsuit, sadly)? Is there any sign or CM near its entrance to warn people whose kids might wander in too quickly / naively?

Thanks!

;)
