Just wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what the first thing (rope drop) wait times are like for Peter Pan's Flight. We will be travelling last week of April with a predicted crowd level of 4. Plan on being at the gate 1/2 hour before opening and head straight to Peter Pan's Flight.

My lowest rope drop wait was 20 minutes, and I had taken the monorail so came through tomorrowland instead of the main entrance. Other days when I entered through the main gate it was 45 minutes. I think you have to be really close to the front of the line to get to Peter Pan in time for a very short wait.

That said...I would just get in the line at rope drop even if it's on the longer side. I've had days where I didn't bother because I thought the line would get shorter in the afternoon, but it never did.

I know there is at least one person on the board who is an expert at getting to Peter Pan early. Perhaps they will see this thread and share some tips.

It can be short if you are near the front of the group. If the queue is inside the building/covered area you've done well. In between there and the walkway is still pretty good. If it wraps out to the walkway that's the length of line you'll pretty much see all day (45 minutes). If the line is that long, I'd use that slow morning time to knock out the other rides in Fantasyland while the crowds everywhere else are still light.

I have found that in order to ride Peter Pan at rope drop without more than a 20 minute wait, you need to be early enough to the gates (I would say 45 minutes or an hour before park opening to be safe) to be in the first couple of hundred people waiting at the hub to get into Fantasyland. I might be off on the calculations--on my PP first days I am usually even earlier so I can be first at the gate and at the hub.

We rope drop PP regularly (i.e. nearly always ;-)). If you're one of the first 30 or so in, your wait will be minuscule, obviously. But you really have to be focused and move as quickly as you can ("Walk with intention," in Disney guest parlance ;-)). I'm a fast walker and am often first. But be aware that within less than a minute, the line gets long. I often joke that at 8:00, there's no line. By 8:03, it's grown to 30 minutes. If you take your time, you'll likely be in for a twenty-minute wait, even if you make it by 8:02. About half of the time, someone runs (despite repeated requests from CMs not to). This often prompts others to run and suddenly it morphs into what we (and surely others) call "The running of the guests" ;-).

If you park at either of the Disney lots, the earliest you can expect to be at the park gates is approximately 7:15. That's when I get there most of the times that I go. If you arrive at 7:30 (when they begin to allow people in), your chances of getting a good line position for PP won't be good. So: if it matters to you, get to the gates at 7:15, go directly to the rope and then walk as fast as you can to PP. We often say "Ride Peter Pan early or not at all."

Hope these insights help!

we've only tried to do it once at opening a few years ago. We were doing pretty good, and then, as Wonkakid says, there was a "running of the guests". We don't run, so we had about 30-40 people in front of us, which still wasn't bad. But we had to get there about an hour before gates open.

at this point, I don't think the ride itself is worth it anymore for us to require that much dedication, but that's just my opinion after riding it enough.

I feel that wiping out the rest of fantasyland dark rides during that opening time (alice, toad, snow white and pinocchio, usually in that order), is time better spent.

Agree with everything here. Another alternative, the last time we went the park was open until 12:00 AM (we did morning, back to hotel for nap, back to park). We hit Fantasy Land the last hour and rode everything (minus Storybook Canal). Peter Pan was the last thing we rode with a short wait, and a great way to end the day/trip.

This past Friday we rope dropped Peter Pan. We arrived at security around 7:10. We were not right at the rope, but we weren't too far back. We walked with a purpose through the castle and the line was starting to the right and they were slowly letting people into the actual line. When we got into line we were even with the SW decoration on the side of Snow White and we were on the ride in 10 min.

PP is typically 5-10 minutes tops at rope drop. Sometimes seconds depending on how fast you walk, and if you got in the turnstile queue soon enough. I typically get in queue 45-60 early so I'm one of the first in line.

We always rope drop PPF - and I would say max wait for us has been 15 min over multiple trips. Usually 10 or less. And we are not the people who do the crazy run walk and elbow others out of the way. But we *are* right at the front of the rope - always on the left side.

It also depends on your rope drop skills. I always get on the ride in less than 5 minutes even if I get to the end of Main Street as they start the good morning announcement. If people are walking past you at rope drop rather than you walking past people, then the waits can be more substantial. If it's clearly already looping outside like it would normally, I think it's better to just do the rest of Fantasyland and eat that 1/2 hour to 45 minute wait later on in the day.

Skill matters for Peter Pan because people close in from multiple directions and there's flexibility to speed walk past the people in front of you. It's not like Web Slingers where there's really not much you can do before you funnel into the queue.
