While I wouldn't use the trays, I would so use the first one with the placemat. What is it called and where do you buy them!

While I didn't read the entire thread. What about the disposable placemats they make for kids. It just sticks to the area you wish to eat on. When your done you throw it away.

I buy a colorful small tray at the Dollar store and use it at F&W. It fits in a small tote bag. I'd rather use a tray than a trash can, but that's just me

As her husband, you have an obligation to tell her this is disgusting, not to try to help.

Seriously? Eating off a garbage can? Come on; you're better than that.

If you find the blog that has the preview of souvenirs, you will see that they will be selling something similar, though plastic.

They sold them last year, too. Last year's had a list of the booths and you could check them off as you tried the food which I thought was really neat. I'd pick that over a trash can simply because I would be upset if someone was blocking my ability to use one for it's intended purpose so I wouldn't do that to others.

Are you married to Hyacnith Bucket? :D

I didn't see anyone using those slotted trays last year. They really aren't practical for F&W. They would be great for a frou-frou cocktail party where all the apps are in teeny pieces or on toothpicks.
F&W food isn't simple too eat that way. It' not canape size.
I need to set my food down, and usually I need to cut it into bites. You can't do that on a hand balanced tray. Even if you set the tray on a table, you have to remove your wine...and now you have a tray to haul around to each booth. Too much trouble to me. I like to travel light. I hope they will have more high top tables this year, they are perfect for F&W munching!:thumbsup2

Loved the Hyacinth reference!!:rotfl:

I didn't go last year (otherwise I probably would have used them!), but I went the year before and ended up getting just one or two items at a time so it would have worked for me. Plus I have no problem with picking up a something like the filet and either stabbing it with a fork and taking bites off of it or using my fingers to eat it even if I shouldn't.

We also stuck to the much less-crowded weekdays so crowds and finding a tabletop weren't so much of a concern.

I can definitely see where the trays wouldn't work for some folks, though.

And I couldn't help it. My grandmother was a bit like her and I could totally see her making us all sit down and put our napkins in our laps and making sure we'd all washed our hands before sitting down to eat at Food & Wine. Rinse and repeat per kiosk. If she had seen that someone managed to do what the OP's wife wants to do, we'd HAVE to do it, too.

I have not read through the while of this thread I wok admit, but you've got me thinking....

Cloth napkin is the right size, and if she was to get rubber coated washer ( so as not to damage the trash can) and see them to the corners they would weigh it down enough so it would take at least a little wind to blow it down.

As for te pockets... Put them is a ziplock bag?

:rotfl2:If she does all that, you must come back with pictures!!! I will be at Epcot Saturday, but I won't have a tape measure with me.

you can use a dollar bill or any currency amount. the are 6". whenever I need a rough estimate and can't find my tape measure I pull out a bill works great.

ok my brain is working with this one. go to Walmart and buy a cheap table cloth that is for picnics. flocked on one side - wipe able surface on the other. then go buy some craft magnets and use them as weights. your wife could sew them in the corners. that way your trashcantopcloth will stay in place. might even be able to find things at the dollar store.

you might be able to find a fun festive wine or Halloween/fall table cloth. a lot if times Walmart will have matching napkins.

RICHARD!!! Don't put the food on that trash can, dear. What if Mrs. Fortescue saw you?

LOL, if only they served the wine in stemware like that at F&W (but then again I wouldn't be able to drink as many if they were like that :rolleyes1)

Mine is a little different and can hold a solo cup as well as the riedel style stemless glassware. I got mine on newegg for like $7. Handy for water bottles as well since my DBF can't be trusted not to set something down and leave it somewhere.

Found it on trend hunter picnic products, its down at #4-but I have not seen where you buy them or the cost-might take some digging.

Here's a couple more items, holds the wine while you stuff your face...I mean "snack".

How convenient for people throwing out their garbage. They can wipe their hands right there!
