Is there a list somewhere of the rides that close when it rains, and those that close when there is thunder? Or is it mostly all water rides and coaster type rides? Thanks!
I spoke with a TM a couple days ago. We were getting in line for the new VC, and it was sprinkling a little bit.
The TM said they'll close all outdoor rides if lightening is within 5 miles, or a heavy rain. Not sure what constitutes 'heavy rain', but that is the general guideline they operate under.
I worked for a time at an 'attraction' driving the choo-choo train
annually the weather service came in for a little employee training
it was their recommendation that if ANY thunder is heard or lightning sighted all outside "rides" - even our lil train - stop and not resume until 30 minutes pass with no additional seen/heard .... any additional resets the clock to 30 minutes. We did not have any fancy sensor systems .... local schools DO and stop football games etc with the 5 mile warning.
Indoor stuff was OK to continue but outdoor rides, and things like kayaks and paddle boats and zip lines all went on hold
