Marv, I LOVED this chapter!! In all our trips since AK first opened I have never seen so many animals out - I had to go back and check the date of your trip so I can try to visit that time of year. Although we did see the lions standing once - it is very exciting.

I think Magdalene was holding an invisible spoon. It is really a lovely picture of her.

That group of guests must be with the wild tour thingy they offer - where they slide down ropes and such ...can't think of what those darn things are called....(old age, ya know). Karin did that tour and it looked waaay too scary, never mind costly, for me to consider.

DisMeets with time to spend touring and especially chatting really are special.

Ok... I guess you know better how I look like when I am about to start dancing than I know that myself - not usually dancing a lot in front of mirrors...

I seem to have forgotten a lot of details about this trip, but I remember the tea break as well, though not what I had... It was very nice just to sit and talk and get to know each other, not distracted by lions, yetis or dinosaurs!

I think both of us had some hot tea which we regretted a bit as we ended up getting rather hot from the sun and the tea. I looked for the receipt, but did not keep that one. Sorry!

Chapter 6 – SECURITY!!!



After an enjoyable and relaxing morning at AK with Katharina and Magdalene, my focus turned to plans for another DISmeet that evening. But this was no ordinary DISmeet because this one was unknown to the person I was planning to have a "chance encounter" with. Oh let's be honest...........I was looking to pull off a total and complete surprise!!! I knew this DISer was on a trip and their plans were to be at DTD that evening for a dinner ADR.

Before heading to DTD and formulating my final plan for the ultimate surprise I had one other task to complete that day. As I said earlier in this TR part of the reason (okay lame excuse but when you get a trip to Disney out of it, is it really lame?) for my trip was because Magdalene had won the contest I held in a previous TR and I needed to present the winning prize to her. She was staying at Boardwalk Villas and I was going to drop off her prize on the way to DTD.

She had told me that they might be in their room or may possibly be out when I came by, but if I couldn't locate them to leave it at Bell Services. I had made a batch of my Seven Layer Bars and since they contain butterscotch and chocolate morsels, I didn't want to carry them around a park and have them melting or make Magdalene have to keep up with them. Jonathan and I arrived at BWV and since I hadn't been there before I had to get a couple of pictures as we walked in from the parking lot.

When I got inside I used the house phone to call Magdalene's room, but I didn't get an answer so it didn't look like I was going to be able to present them in person. I headed for Bell Services and told them what I needed and they gladly obliged. Sadly I didn't take a picture of Magdalene's prize before dropping them off but here is a picture of a special batch of Christmas seven-layer bars I made so you can see what they look like. The only difference is that these use special toll-house chocolate morsels that are also red and green besides the typical brown ones, so they are a little more colorful.

Unfortunately Magdalene told me earlier in this TR that she failed to take a picture also (at least before they were already consumed), but she could provide a picture of the packaging that I delivered them in, so maybe she will be kind enough to post any pictures she has of that now.

Jonathan and I headed back to the car and we were off to DTD. I wasn't completely sure where the restaurant I was ultimately headed for was located, or where I might actually run into this DISer ahead of time, but I knew we had plenty of time and I could check out one of the DTD maps when we got there so I opted to park somewhere near the middle. We walked across the bridge into the Pleasure Island area and there right in front of me was my intended destination.................................

So who was I here to meet/surprise? None other than our fun-loving, pole-dancing Mutha Nature………Rosie! While Magdalene and Katharina were discussing their upcoming trip on their PTR I had mentioned how great it would be if I could come down and meet them while they were there. Rosie kept reminding me that she would also be at WDW during that same time. That is when I started to formulate a plan and all future discussions with Magdalene and Katharina went into stealth mode. I really appreciate Katharina and Magdalene keeping my secret when the plans came together that I would be able to take the trip, including the night before when they got to meet Rosie at Epcot.

After locating Raglan Road so I could be there prior to when I thought Rosie and her group would arrive, Jonathan and I walked around to explore the area, while I kept an eye out for Rosie just in case we ran into them. This was a great opportunity to take pictures near the Lego store. These Lego sculptures are always impressive to look at and I can’t imagine the hours actually needed to create them.

As the time neared for Rosie’s ADR at Raglan Road, Jonathan and I headed back towards the restaurant to watch for their arrival. After looking around for a good location to watch and wait, without being seen before I could pull off my surprise, I opted for a bench across from the entrance to RR, out in front of Apricot Lane Boutique. I sat facing towards the RR entrance, so I could see Rosie if she was approaching from the direction of Disney Marketplace. I knew if they came from the direction of the West End they would have to walk right past me.

As we sat there waiting I realized it would be a whole lot easier to keep watch for them if Jonathan knew what Rosie looked like so he could help. I pulled out my phone and called up the DIS and located Rosie’s TR to show Jonathan a picture of Rosie and also her co-escort Carol. As I’m showing Jonathan the pictures of what Rosie and Carol look like, Jonathan looks over my shoulder and says “You mean like that??” As I glanced over my shoulder I see Rosie walking towards us leading her group, with Carol at the back of the group. As they walked by Carol seemed to look right at me, but I’m sure even though she had seen my picture many times (at least on a wooden spoon) it wasn’t possible she would pick me out, at least not when she wasn’t expecting to see me there.

It was still a little too early for their RR ADR, so that wasn’t where Rosie was headed. With her group in tow, she rounded the corner of the building heading towards Disney Marketplace………but where were they headed? Jonathan and I got up and followed a safe distance behind them so we wouldn’t be spotted, as I tried to figure out the best way to pull off my surprise. Jonathan had the camera ready to hopefully capture the moment in pictures for me. Rosie led her group into the Lego store.

I told Jonathan to follow me as we headed quickly to the side door of the Lego store so I could hopefully get ahead of Rosie to pull off my surprise. I quickly entered the side door and headed directly across towards the middle of the store, as I spotted Rosie heading towards me. Thinking quickly I walked straight towards her, trying not to be obvious so she would spot me too soon. I know Rosie leads her group around with a very special wooden spoon, so I had brought one with me also because, well……………I thought it would be appropriate. As I walked up in front of Rosie I pulled out my spoon and raised it in front of me. Rosie looked up at me somewhat confused as I said “What is this I hear about you making fun of me?” (Rosie told me later that the way I was dressed, she at first thought I was Security and she was wondering what one of her group had done.) As she looked at me she hesitantly asked “Maaav?” I started to smile and Rosie finally realized what was happening as she began to explain to everyone this was Marv………from the spoon. Unfortunately as quickly as everything happened, and the way I had to walk up to her, Jonathan couldn’t get that initial look on Rosie’s face which was quite frankly priceless. This was the best he could get of the initial encounter.

Once Jonathan could get in a better position to take pictures, he did get quite a few gems.

Here Rosie is explaining to everyone this is the real Marv whose picture is on the spoon that had been leading them around during their trip.

As we all know here on the DIS, if there isn’t a picture, it didn’t happen.

Having attracted enough attention and questioning looks inside the store, we decided to head outside so we could visit a little longer. This gave me a chance to get another Lego picture.

Time was running out before their RR ADR, but then what’s a Rosie DISmeet without some pole dancing??? Spotting an opportunity nearby we took just a little longer to get some pics.

Before Rosie and her group parted I had also brought her a small package of seven-layer bars as a gift. Since there weren’t but just a few I snuck them to her and told her to save them for later. Jonathan and I didn’t really have any plans the rest of the evening but unfortunately I didn’t think to ask Rosie for her cell phone number. Having a car at my disposal I could have met her at their hotel later when they got back in so we could have spent more time talking and laughing. Hopefully we will have that chance again in the near future Ms. Rosie!!!

As they headed off to Raglan Road for dinner, Jonathan and I headed to the car. We found an Applebee’s not too far from our hotel for dinner. Being a Saturday night this worked out great as we got to watch college football during our meal. With nothing else to do that night, we headed back to the room and got ready for another early morning as we would be heading to meet Katharina and Magdalene for another morning together.

How do you go into stealth mode? Do you spin like Wonder Woman? Or do you wear some kind of special ninja suit? I have an app on my phone that I use.

Priceless photos of you and Rosie! Fantastic surprise! Nicest security ever!! The pole dancing pic should be printed and framed... Maybe Rosie could get a larger spoon and use that photo...well, guess it would have to be an awfully large spoon. Not a great idea.

Seven layer cookies look yummy - especially the festive Christmas ones. Hope Magdalene posts the photo of the pre-opened prize!

Great shot of driving up to the Boardwalk - we've stayed at BWV a couple of times - had a very nice studio close to the elevators (not noisy at all). Not my favorite resort, but would stay again. If staying deluxe I'm most at home at an MK resort. Of course, walking to International Gateway and the Studios is fabulous!

Yes, the whole group gathered around and it was fun getting to interact with them. They are all so great!

122 days now? Good that you get to meet Rosie again later this year! I would love being able to spend more time with Rosie than we had and get to know her just a little better. We kid a lot but I know the chance to just sit down and laugh with her would be a blast!

Actually no spy/stalker cam. That picture shows probably every “shrub” that was in that planter. The camera was in auto mode and when Jonathan stopped to take a quick picture unfortunately the camera focused on the closest item…………..

The funny thing is that Jonathan and Carol were both taking pictures of the dual pole dancing. Jonathan had the angle that mostly hid me and clearly showed Rosie. The pictures that Rosie posted that Carol took were just the opposite, mostly blocking Rosie out………..

Hmmm, I wonder if in both cases that was intentional??????
