Rides, Slides, Eats & Meets Oct DISmeet Trip. 5/6-Ch 14 Closing Thoughts

Chapter5 – Rope Drop at Epcot????

Monday, August 1st was our first morning on Disney property. I was hoping to finally make rope drop. Jonathan and Andrew were going to join me, while Alison decided to continue enjoying her restful vacation and join us later. The three of us quickly got dressed, ate and headed out to the bus stop. After a short wait for an Epcot bus to show up, we were soon on our way.

We didn’t quite make rope drop, but we walked through the gates just before they dropped the rope up ahead of us to start letting people invade the park. Missed it by thaattt much!!! The first place we headed was towards Soarin’ to ride and grab a set of fastpasses for later.

After Soarin’ we headed across Future World to Test Track and grabbed a set of FPs. We then headed over to Mission Space where the line for the Orange side was still fairly short. We were focused on finding more Hidden Mickey’s and when we got done on Mission Space we spotted this one in the area where they have the games and “Mission Control” area.

Outside in front of the area where you approach Mission Space we found this one.

As we were leaving MS Alison texted that she was entering the park. We got back to the area just behind Spaceship Earth and met her. We had a little while before our late lunch ADR at Le Cellier, so the boys decided they wanted to spend some time in Innoventions West. Alison decided to just hang out in the comfy chairs while the boys roamed around and did some of the activities. I decided to walk and explore a little.

When I got to the area where the Fire Truck is located I decided to check it out a little. As I walked over to the backside of the fire truck I found a display with different patches from various Fire Departments, and then a display that you could search for a specific Fire Department.

I know my buddy Dan (FauntleroyFAN07) does some work with a local Fire Department where he lives, and has a lot of family that work in the FD. I texted him to find out which specific FD it was to see if they had the patch. Dan texted me back fairly quickly and indeed they had the patch. Dan informed me that his BIL was the one who provided the patch for Disney to use in their display on a previous trip.
2011-08-01_12-03-32_614.jpg

I eventually worked my way around and back to the area where we entered Innoventions. Alison joined me as we headed around the loop again to locate the boys so we could head towards World Showcase for our LeCellier ADR. We arrived at LeCellier a little early and checked in hoping to get in early. We had to wait a few minutes to check in, and then they sent us down.

While we were waiting in the lobby the CMs were entertaining all the people waiting asking Disney trivia. The boys participated and got the answer correct a number of times. While I was waiting I found another HM.
1979.jpg

I also got a picture of the desk that shows all the Canadian Provinces in honor of jenbear. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
1980.jpg

After what seemed like an extremely long time to get seated, with a number of people coming in after us being seated ahead of us, I asked the CMs what was taking so long. For some reason they had messed up and should have seated us a lot sooner, so they quickly worked to rectify the situation and get us a table. Since the last time we ate at LeCellier they had changed dinner to signature dining, so we decided to go with lunch this trip. We had a little more flexibility on what we could order this time since we were previously on the DDP.

Alison and Jonathan split the Tomato Stack Appetizer.
1981.jpg

Love the Pretzel Breadsticks
1982.jpg

Drew ordered the Baked Macaroni and Cheese to go with his Spicy Chicken and Chipotle Sausage Appetizer
1983.jpg

Alison’s Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken was part of her LeCellier experience.
1984.jpg

Jonathan had the Le Cellier House Burger, which he really enjoyed.
1985.jpg

My steak and potatoes, which went really well with the remainder of Drew’s Chipotle Sausage he couldn’t finish.
1986.jpg

This time we opted to share the Chocolate-on-Chocolate Whiskey Cake for dessert.
1987.jpg

It was already getting really hot, so after finishing lunch we decided to use our FPs and head back to the room to cool off and hit the pool. Since we only had three Soarin’ FPs from earlier I opted to let Alison ride with the boys and I went to ride The Land and search for some more Hidden Mickey’s.

2011-08-01_15-25-16_442.jpg

One of the many Hidden Mickey’s and the only one I was able to get a picture of this time through the ride. But I spotted quite a few more that I was better prepared to capture later in the trip.
2011-08-01_15-26-29_303.jpg

We headed back to the room where the boys wanted to go to Community Hall, so Alison and I headed to the pool. For the first time this trip I found out the pool wasn’t going to be much relief from the heat. It had been hot for so many days now in Florida that the pool water was quite warm. Eventually Drew was tired of Community Hall and wanted to go to a water park. Jonathan decided he wanted to hang around the resort so Alison and I headed off with Drew for an afternoon at Typhoon Lagoon. While Drew headed off to ride a lot of the slides, Alison and I just basically relaxed at the wave pool and the lazy river, but at least I finally got cooled off. It was going to be a long, hot week.

Next Up Chapter 6 – DHS Rope Drop and DISMeet

I'm still here! Just got caught up on Glenn's PTR. Ugh! Wish I had hours to spend DISing so I wasn't forever playing catch-up!
No problem Jen! Seems like quite a few people have been really busy lately. Glad you are still here!
My dear friend, I am still here. Work has been insane since the beginning of March, then the boss and wife both ended up in the hospital and I was spending time there and then at their apartment, then my son got engaged and then we went to Florida. I'm finally coming up for air (as can be seen by the fact I did FOUR updates to my TR today).

I love you and miss you, and I think I'm back in a groove now. :hippie::hippie::hippie:
Kathy my Dear Friend! I know how busy you have been and glad we have been able to keep up in other ways. Thanks for stopping by!!! :)
I am still here !!! I have missed being picked on you boys have all been a.w.o.l lately I would say more about men being absent but Kathy has been almost as absent;):rotfl2:

Rosie, seems I have been keeping up on your new PTR better than my own.....
See the girls are here. :goodvibes

I guess in a way I am glad we are all so busy, but at the same time I miss everyone.

After next week things should start to calm down. I hope.

Marv- if you wont run you should come out and be an athletic supporter.... for the half marathon in Jan. :thumbsup2
:scratchin Hmmm, didn't realize you needed one of those!!! :rotfl2:

January huh??? Maybe I should get me some new running shoes and join in....... As long as I can walk part of it, hopefully I wouldn't :faint: You know how hard it is for us old guys to keep up........ :guilty:

I don't think I do the JC anymore....too many roaches on those boats.:rolleyes1popcorn::
Roaches??? Sure it's not the ride is too scary and fast for you????? :lmao:

Very cool that you were looking for Hidden Mickey's. I always fail epically when I try. It goes a little something like "oh, there's a hidden Mickey!" on one ride.....and then nothing else. :rotfl2:

Your missing RD sounds like mine. I always miss by that much. It's so frustrating!

Lunch looks heavenly! Especially that macaroni and cheese. And the steak. Dang, drool on my keyboard again!

Alison decided to continue enjoying her restful vacation and join us later. The three of us quickly got dressed, ate and headed out to the bus stop.
I am seeing a theme here.

Missed it by thaattt much!!! The first place we headed was towards Soarin’ to ride and grab a set of fastpasses for later.

Get Smart!!! Any points for that ???? :flower3:
TV shows I can do.... Movies not so much....

Outside in front of the area where you approach Mission Space we found this one.

That's what I would have gotten too. mmmm Steak.

This time we opted to share the Chocolate-on-Chocolate Whiskey Cake for dessert.
1987.jpg

Same for the cake. I have gotten that before but I had a HUGE slice.

Since we only had three Soarin’ FPs from earlier I opted to let Alison ride with the boys and I went to ride The Land and search for some more Hidden Mickey’s.

I have see that HM and the one in the tank ;)

I have spent more time at BB due to the conventions usually having the day there since TL is on shut down.

looks like you all had a great lunch!

good eye seeing all the HM's!!!!!

sounds like getting out of the heat was a good idea, could never go to Disney in the summer...I'd be :faint:

Great update, Marv.

Love all the hidden mickeys you always find; and way to get in touch with Dan about the patch. :thumbsup2

You had my ALL TIME FAVORITE Disney dessert at LeCellier. :goodvibes

Yay for some time at Typhoon Lagoon with Drew.

Ooo, my wife would not have taken kindly to being passed over for seating at Le Cellier....she still holds a grudge against Sanaa for this same thing happening to us in '09.

Nice work finding Dan's BiL's fire company patch. :thumbsup2

And then off to Typhoon Lagoon -- that sounds like a fun afternoon, for sure!

All caught up !!! I see you are picking on Christine too now !! That's what she gets for hanging with me !!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
So are you gonna be an "ATHLETIC SUPPORTER" for Pat!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: What's the other name for those things:scratchin:rolleyes::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Getting too old to run......may hurt something important!!!

 Never too old to run... I am an example of that. :lmao:

woo-hoo an update!

So close to rope drop!

Ugh they did the same thing to us at Ohana! Love Le Cellier though. I know DH would love that burger but we are always on the DDP and it seems like a waste of a credit. The wine bottles are one of my favorite hidden mickeys! Now that we have been to WDW several times we like to take our time to look for those.

How nice of you to give Allison your Soarin' FP! We always enjoy Living With the Land. We did the Behind the Seeds Tour last year and really enjoyed that too.

We haven't done a water park yet at WDW - it is on our Disney bucket list.

Very cool that you were looking for Hidden Mickey's. I always fail epically when I try. It goes a little something like "oh, there's a hidden Mickey!" on one ride.....and then nothing else. :rotfl2:

That is usually my result when I am just casually thinking about it instead of focused. Having the book handy helps too......... ;)

Your missing RD sounds like mine. I always miss by that much. It's so frustrating!

Looking forward to writing the remainder of this TR. Better RD days ahead.......

Lunch looks heavenly! Especially that macaroni and cheese. And the steak. Dang, drool on my keyboard again!
He shared his Chipotle sausage, but forget Drew ever giving up any of his Mac and Cheese!!! :rotfl2:

Hey Tanya! Glad you checked in. Your cameo appearance is hopefully not much further away......... :cool1:

I am seeing a theme here.

Wow you are perceptive. And here I was trying to be discreet about it!!! :rolleyes2

Get Smart!!! Any points for that ???? :flower3:
TV shows I can do.... Movies not so much....

Points huh? Sure, what the heck! No real contest going on but since you jumped in there I guess you should be rewarded for your efforts. How about 15???? :goodvibes

Know what you mean........I am much better with TV shows or Music lyrics myself!!!

GOOD ONE!!!!!

OOOhhh I may see if Jennifer can get me a patch from her Fire and rescue squad to take.

Cool idea!!! :cool2: Maybe Dan can tell us if his BIL had to do anything special to submit it.........

mmmmmm me too.

That's what I would have gotten too. mmmm Steak.

Where’s the beef????

Same for the cake. I have gotten that before but I had a HUGE slice.

Hmmmm.........guess mine was a little more fun size. :rolleyes1

Nice Melons. :)

:thumbsup2

Cucumbers are one thing I can enjoy!!! Not allergic to those. :thumbsup2
I have see that HM and the one in the tank ;)

Saw the one in the tank but not in time to get the shot. Just might be making an appearance later in the report................hopefully before Christmas!!!:worried:

I have spent more time at BB due to the conventions usually having the day there since TL is on shut down.
The boys did both........I never made it to BB. Guess another thing I need to put on my list for future visits....... :goodvibes

looks like you all had a great lunch!

good eye seeing all the HM's!!!!!

sounds like getting out of the heat was a good idea, could never go to Disney in the summer...I'd be :faint:
Thanks Lisa! We all enjoyed the meal.........once we actually got seated!!! :(

Yeah, it seems the heat has more of an effect with age.............
:)

Wow you are perceptive. And here I was trying to be discreet about it!!!

I AM perceptive. I can just hear her now.... I know you want to be up and busy but I want to sleep. :lmao:

Points huh? Sure, what the heck! No real contest going on but since you jumped in there I guess you should be rewarded for your efforts. How about 15????

15 is wonderful. 1515 would put me out in front... or on top .... of the leaderboard for good.:rotfl2:

Know what you mean........I am much better with TV shows or Music lyrics myself!!!

I know Why is that? :confused3

Cool idea!!! Maybe Dan can tell us if his BIL had to do anything special to submit it.........

i will have to check into it. Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2

Where’s the beef????

I can do comemercials too - Wendy's

Hmmmm.........guess mine was a little more fun size.

fun size can be better too- not so much of a sugar overload.

Saw the one in the tank but not in time to get the shot. Just might be making an appearance later in the report................hopefully before Christmas!!!

I like a man who can appreciate a nice melon. :rotfl2:

He shared his Chipotle sausage, but forget Drew ever giving up any of his Mac and Cheese!!! :rotfl2:

I may need to try the Chipotle sausage. Spicy???? Real Spicy????

The boys did both........I never made it to BB. Guess another thing I need to put on my list for future visits....... :goodvibes

BB is quite cool with Summit Plummet!!! :scared1: Just make sure you cross your ankles and dig your heels in a little... Otherwise water goes everywhere especially where it doesn't belong.

Yeah, it seems the heat has more of an effect with age.............
:)

You need to drink water and then everything should be fine. More needs to go in than comes out.
You are one to talk about age .... OLD MAN!!!! :rotfl2:

I know my buddy Dan (FauntleroyFAN07) does some work with a local Fire Department where he lives, and has a lot of family that work in the FD. I texted him to find out which specific FD it was to see if they had the patch. Dan texted me back fairly quickly and indeed they had the patch.

Kudos on remmebering that and asking...and you are welcome for getting back to you so quickly so you could find it.

they rotate the ones that are in the display on the side of the truck and the others are stored in the system for people to look up

when you are there you have to fill out a paper with the information, so you can see what they have filled in, so you know what info to take with you.

and also the patch

Great update, Marv.

Thanks Kathy!

Love all the hidden mickeys you always find; and way to get in touch with Dan about the patch. :thumbsup2

I think we had just talked about his association with the local Fire Department just before that, so it was fresh on my mind. Talk about good timing........

You had my ALL TIME FAVORITE Disney dessert at LeCellier. :goodvibes

I KNEW that when I ordered it! I had to try it since it came so highly recommended!!!

Yay for some time at Typhoon Lagoon with Drew.
It was rather relaxed and quiet since I didn’t explore the park very much that first day. Just did the wave pool and the lazy river while Drew ran all over trying everything he could.

Well, it was quiet and relaxed until we were ready to go and started looking for him and I walked the park pretty much three times before I finally found him. It was starting to get a little uncomfortable.........

Ooo, my wife would not have taken kindly to being passed over for seating at Le Cellier....she still holds a grudge against Sanaa for this same thing happening to us in '09.

Usually we get seated fairly quickly when at Disney. This was definitely not fun, so I know how Judy must have been feeling!

Nice work finding Dan's BiL's fire company patch. :thumbsup2

It was really cool to find a patch representing someone I knew!!!

And then off to Typhoon Lagoon -- that sounds like a fun afternoon, for sure!
Nice introduction to TL. We got more done as the week went by and we had more chances.

All caught up !!! I see you are picking on Christine too now !! That's what she gets for hanging with me !!:rotfl2:

Guess older doesn’t necessarily mean wiser........:lmao:

So are you gonna be an "ATHLETIC SUPPORTER" for Pat!! :rotfl2: What's the other name for those things:scratchin:rolleyes::rotfl2:
Family Board.........must.......not........comment!!!!

Never too old to run... I am an example of that. :lmao:

Okay, okay.........I certainly can’t argue with that...........you are right!!!
(then again, maybe I just don’t want to be beaten by a girl..........)

Maybe not one of THOSE but I do make sure when I do
1sm184runhappy.gif

I have to make sure everything is secure like my.......

knees :lmao:

WHEW!!!!! :worried:

Unlike that chick on Amazing race ....

Or some of those female World Cup Soccer Players..............

Come join us!!!! I think you might surprise yourself on how much stamina you really have at your age. :rolleyes1

You nevah know..........

:rotfl2: In my case, SPORTS BRA!!!! OR K-T tape for the knees. :rotfl2:

In his case... :rolleyes1
Hip replacement? Pacemaker? Wheelchair???

Oh, thanks for your support....... :(

woo-hoo an update!

On our previous New Year’s Trip we were all on the DDP too. We all ordered steak!!!!

How nice of you to give Allison your Soarin' FP! We always enjoy Living With the Land. We did the Behind the Seeds Tour last year and really enjoyed that too.

In spite of what SOME people think, I am a really nice guy when I’m not provoked.............

Well, sometimes...........

We haven't done a water park yet at WDW - it is on our Disney bucket list.
That was our first time and the boys really enjoyed the change as much as anything........

Keeping up with your TR which is more than you are doing with mine I posted a QUIZ yesterday !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
