Rides for all ages w/no HT req.

Bumping up for a recent poster. This thread really answers her question

Mary

Thanks for all the great replies. 3MMM was exactly right. Although many things are listed w/no height requirements, once you get to the parks they throw other obstacles in your way. I wanted to follow-up after my trip on the rides we were able to do with 18 month old & 3.5 year old. We may have skipped rides because we did not want to wait in the heat of July or because we thought it was probably too scary.

Universal-
The family can see/do everything in Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone except must be 36" tall for Nuthouse Coaster. Warning on E.T. (I would not ride this again w/a baby, they have a separate seat & it is dangerous if they try to get out & sit on your lap, imagine a flying highchair) My 3 year old rode twice.
The Kidzone contains 2 shows, 2 playgrounds, 1 roller coaster (at least 36" tall) and the E.T. ride.

Shrek 4-D Movie
Fear Factor Live Show
Lucy Tribute (Nothing but an A/C room for the kids)

Wanted to do, no time for JAWS & Disaster although they may not be kid friendly, no height restrictions listed.
We skipped the Parental Advisory ride/shows which is basically everything else not listed except the Blues Brothers Show.

IOA-
Dress to get wet many water play areas.
Me Ship Olive is a water play area.

Seussland:
Cat In The Hat- be prepared for uncontrollable spinning- Must be able to walk

Trolley in the Sky-Baby was too short- Cute for the 3 YO- Must say, not thrilled with the Child Swap. Everyone in the party must wait in line, then you have to stand on the platform and wait with the baby next to train tracks w/o any guard rails. Horrible spot for walkers that hate to be held.

Caro-seuss-el - All ages
Cat in the Hat Show -All ages
A little playground in the Seussland

Pteradon Flyers- height requirement I believe is min. 36" to a max of 52-(56)"?
not for babies or kids w/fear of heights (swing flying in the
sky) Adults may ride if accompanying a child.
We also ate at Mythos good (priced about TGIFridays),
Saw 8th Voyage of Sindbad (lots of fighting with small pyrotechnics)

We saw Blue Man Group one night. Not for all kids, but my 3 year old is a huge fan, so I got him front row center seats, highlight of his trip. They have booster seats if needed.

US/IOA has the best character meet & greet entrances of the 3 major parks.
Check out the Simpsons be sure to come a few minutes early to see them arrive. However if traveling with young children & you do not need any roller coasters to satisfy teenagers/adults, I would wait until they are at least 7-8 YO maybe even 9-10 to go to this park. Previously we thought SeaWorld was boring after spending the last 2 summers taking the kids, but this is where we would go back again, if we were looking for inexpensive, half day in the park outtings. Most everything in SeaWorld is for all ages except for 2-4 rides. US/IOA although cute is seriously lacking in family entertainment for all ages. If you have to visit & you have very young kids, you would be able to hit all of the family entertainment for both parks in 1 day total. Disneyworld is obviously the hands down best place for young children.

To sum it up US/IOA has about 5 rides and the same amount of shows with some playground and splash play areas between both parks for the whole family to enjoy.

i think you can start younger based on the height and fear of the child, mine just tunred 5 at universal last month and was able to ride everything but the mummy, and the coasters, she even went on the Jurassic park river adventure. she had a ton of fun and were going in a few days again.

Thank you for getting back to us and letting us know about your experience. Some people on this board insist there are lots of things for the whole family and I will agree that the whole family can have an enjoyable time, but there is really very little for the youngest. We go because my older ones (husband included) love it - I do not go for my little ones.

We just got back from a long weekend trip and opted to only take my three oldest boys ages 10, 9, and 5 and had a great time. We left the other two home. It was a much different experience for me - I loved it!!

I agree with your baby swap post - see my post - it turns out you don't have to wait in line most of the time - but no one tells you that!

I hope you will go back again when your children are older. My 9 and 10 year old could do everything (barely- good thing I never got around to getting my 9 year old's hair cut before the trip) and my 5 year old had to sit out Mummy, and the coasters - he could do and loved everything else. We did have to leave Poisedins because he was terrified! - I remember why we had skipped it in the past

I hope you still had a nice trip

Thanks Mary for letting me know about the baby swap. I'll definitely go back when the boys are older. I've taken them every year since they were born and in the womb(3 years ago! LOL.) I'll continue as long as they'll let me. I try to rotate the parks. I just need to plan a trip to Disneyworld when it's not so hot. My 18 month old is in love with Mickey. Mickey & Pluto spent over 30 mins. with my kids (Well Mickey anyway) last weekend. This is the first time we saw them at Club 33 at Disneyland and Mickey fell in love with my little one. He spent at least 30 mins. total just hugging him and playing with him. 5-10 mins at a time. It was so cute. Now I'm scared he's going to feel rejected by Mickey when we go to Disneyland Paris in a few months & Mickey just waves:(
