FIL had his surgery for his left hip on March 23 and we are going to FL May 7. We(FIL, MIL, Niece a week shy of 4, DH, DD week shy of 1, and myself) will be going to MK on May 10th just for the day. We will be renting a wheelchair for him. My question is what rides will he be able to do? TIA :goodvibes
P.S. He asked his PT and Doc about FL we are driving 13 hour car ride and they said it was fine as long as we stop every couple hours to get out and stretch.

Several years ago when I had a kidney removed, my surgeon said if I went to the parks during the next six months if the ride had any warnings for people with heart conditions, pregnancy, or bad backs that I should treat that warning as also applying to me. I used the same rule for the six months after I had a hip replacement.

I've had total hip replacements on both sides. A shoulder, too. It doesn't stop me from riding any ride I please.

There is absolutely no reason why your FIL wouldn't be able to go on any specific ride because of his hip. Some attractions are a bit tough to get out of the ride vehicle if it's low to the ground, but that applies more to people with bad knees, not hips.

If your FIL is in poor health overall - weak heart, age, an underlying medical condition (you didn't say why he needed the hip surgery) - he should probably avoid rough rides for those reasons. Or if he isn't fully recovered from the strain that major surgery puts on your body. He can be the judge of whether he feels up to riding any particular attraction.

But certainly there's nothing that I would advise against specifically because of a hip replacement.

So im getting that he should be able to do everything that my DD can then, right? and possbily more if he, his PT and his DR are ok with that.

He had the surgery because his hip was gone, it had detarited(sp?) that far.

You probably wouldn't want to flex the hip too much at 6 weeks. Talk to your surgeon about any remaining hip precautions after the surgery. At 6 weeks, you are still post-op. I think the roller coasters, indy cars, etc. will be too much that soon after surgery. (My DH has had both hips replaced).
