Rider Switch and FP

if I have 2 adults who want to ride something and a child that is too short to ride that ride, do both adults now need an FP or one FP is sufficient?

I may be wrong since I don’t have kids but I believe one parent watches the child while one parent rides in standby (or a regular FP+ if you have it) and you are given a Fastpass for the other adult to use later. I believe that Fastpass can be used by 3 people.
