Rider Swap

Just reporting as last week some mentioned that they had to show FP+ for everyone in the party to get a rider swap ticket. I went to Magic Kingdom today and they didn't check anyone's FP+. They do have a new way they are giving the ticket though. Instead of giving a ticket right away, the CM will hand you a lanyard that says it is for rider swap and each attraction has a picture of the ride on it (large laminated card). They don't give the actual rider swap ticket until you get up to the loading area and hand them the lanyard. It doesn't matter to them if the first party goes standby or FP, but the key is the party won't get the rider swap till they get to the front of the line.
(As confirmed, the waiting party and too small child were not allowed to enter in the line and needed to wait outside attraction for first party to finish).

Also interesting is that all the new rider swap tickets are valid until the end of the month. All of the ones issued today had an expiry of August 31.

The CM at each ride went over that this is the new way rider swap works. I will check it out tomorrow at Animal Kingdom.

Thanks for the update! Is it allowing a total of 2 or 3 guests? I know the ones before said up to 3 but lately have been hearing it has been changed to 2.

Thanks for the update. Like the way they are handing out Rider Swaps now, no more getting it and almost immediately walking away with it.

The pass is valid for 3 guests still. Was at animal kingdom today and did rider swap for Primeval Whirl, Dinosaur, Kali River, and Expedition Everest. Here at this park it is still done the old way and they just gave me a rider swap ticket when I asked for one before entering the ride line (opposed to the MK where they gave me the lanyard at the entrance and the ticket near ride boarding). They never asked me anything about or checked if all members had a fastpass for it. Like MK, the rider tickets is valid until August 31st, not just the same day. Leads me to believe they are mass making them for a month at a time Instead of new ones printed each day.

Will be checking out Hollywood Studies tomorrow.

OK, just making sure I understand...at least at MK...

Family goes up to entrance of ride and requests a rider swap. (FP or no, either way it isn't mattering, right)? They are verifying too small child and giving 1st adult/party a lanyard to carry through the line. Before getting on the ride, CM will give 1st adult/party an actual ticket. After the ride, the 2nd adult/party can ride with that ticket....or save it for another day as long as it's before the end of the month?

Does that sound right? Sorry, my brain is a little foggy....just want to prepare the hubby what's going on.

Thanks for your help!

Seems like good changes
1) Stops the trick of grabbing a child swap and ditching the standby line
2) Using swap passes on later days is a huge benefit. Can't tell you how many left over ones I throw out because we never got around to going back for whatever reason. Bummer for those checking in on the very end of the month.

Thanks for the follow up! Curious, did you do this on 7DMT at MK? That is the one ride that has been mentioned where CMs were checking if the "2nd" adult also had a FP. It doesn't matter for me as luckily everyone in my party can ride that ride. Just curious.

Epcot is doing the old way today and good through the end of month today too. Soarin and mission space did not check both parents for fp+. Test track has been down all day though... :(

Super useful information. Thank you so much for posting! I hope nothing changes over the next 27 days for our trip. Lol
