RideMax Users Thread (FAQs Linked in First Post!)

Do you happen to have the link to Robo's map?? I was reading the RM suggested walking path and got a bit confused, so the map might be of help. Thanks!!

You bet, I'll copy and paste a reply from Robo himself with links to the maps you need...

DHS Rope Drop & Gates MAPS below:

On many mornings, guests (B) are held for Rope Drop near the HAT (#2)
before being released into the park at opening time (Regular of AM EMH.)

The "Alternate Path" on the TSM route below is
now nearly always used by the CM's to route guests to TSM following the Rope Drop.

These are the maps I used last December, along with RM, to help my family ride TSM several times with very little waiting. Good Luck...

I to am a RM fan. Just another way for me to over analyze our trip to WDW. I first used UG, the TGM, then last Aug. I enjoyed each trip progressively better. I really like the fact that RM helps me to eliminate some things that I would previously tried to do and ended up spending too much time there. I was able to do a lot with log afternoon breaks and an overall better vacation for our family. I was fortunate to make RD all days but did start at AK a little later than I wanted too but the plan still worked great!

So on AK day if we Safari first will we still be able to FP EE with a reasonable return time? We are doing DS breakfast at 8:05 and will already be in Africa at RD. I am sure we will already be behind the EE crowds if we go there first.

Waiting patiently to get June up so I can start playing!

During our March trip, they used the alternate path both days we were there.
When going through the archway the left sides CM waited for the right sides CM to catch up so there was no advantage other then the right side was already on the proper side to hit the FP line.

We started from RD with KS then got FP for EE with a return time of before noon then saw the 1st Nemo show. As I recall, we could have used the EE FPs as soon as the Nemo show was done, but we did dinoland instead.

That sounds like us, we have the same breakfast at 8:15am (4/30). Great question!popcorn::

If you can be done by 9:00 am with breakfast, you will be in the first trips out on KS. When we went to KS from RD there was already a bunch of people there that I assume were from the Tusker Breakfast. This will allow you to grap a EE FP that is not much later then those that were there at RD.

Remember that once you get a FP you have to wait for the next one. So even though many people go grab an EE FP they will spit them out hot & heavy at first then there will be a lul from about 9:20 to 9:45 as the RD rush will be either riding EE standby or on to something else.

One other thing that is great about RD is that there is no FP line till around 10 when the first FP are able to be used.

What am I doing wrong with Ridemax? It shows getting fastpasses for 2 different rides before lunch then using them one behind the other much later in the afternoon. I thought you could only get one fastpass at a time? I must be missing something here.

Yep, your thinking is wrong. :rotfl2:

Once you get a FP you can get a second one once the window of the first one is open or 2 hours after you got the the first FP which ever is less.

You also do not have to use your FP during your window. You can not use it early, but you can use it the rest of the day.

RideMax has you getting FP in the morning and then using them in the afternoon when the crowds are at their worst.

Ah Ha! Thank you for clarifying that for me.

Do you think Disney will ever "fix" the FP loophole so you can't use them after their window? I worry our secret will get out and then this little tip won't work anymore, especially on public boards like this one. That's one secret I won't even tell my co-workers!

Just did some playing on RM and for Epcot it has TT, MS. SE, Nemo, then FP soarin. Much dif. than last year. i was surprised!

I don't think it matters much that this tip is in the open, so to speak. It's been common knowledge for years and yet the majority of people still can't figure it out.

It's a bit misleading I think, reading open forums like the DIS, cause' most people here "get it" so it makes you think that "everybody" does it. The truth is, most regular Disney visitors don't understand it even if you explain it to them, no telling how many hours I've spent trying to explain the FP system over the years. Heck, there's still a good percentage of people here and on other WDW forums that don't fully understand.

My question of the day:

I've been playing with RM for our upcoming trip and don't know what to put for what time I want to be in line for the last ride of the day! I put it at closing first and ended up with a huge empty "rest time" in the middle of the day. What time should I put down if I just want to ride the rides in the best order possible without downtime except for lunch?

Just an FYI....

When I was using my FP at Kili Safari late (only about 2 hours), the CM there was not going to let me in. She saw my Birthday pin, rolled her eyes and waved me through.

I was told by CMs multiple times that FPs were good all day long. They even made an announcement to that effect on the bus one morning.

Of course what a CM says is just that and not an official policy, but I had no problem using FPs late. I think our entire trip, we only used 1 set of FP during the window.

There may be exceptions to this like the current week when everything is crazy busy.

I just printed out a bunch of plans with RM and I'm seeing on several of them, there is not a 2-hour time period between obtaining FPs. Isn't that the rule? For instance, it has me getting a FP for RnR at 9:30 and a TSM FP at 10:30. Am I misunderstanding the FP rules or should I be concerned that all my RM plans are going to be non-functional??

Kris

:wave2: I'm a new Ride Max subscriber. I've used the Unofficial Guide's plans with great success before, but I like the fact that RM allows me to personalize my plan.

My dates aren't up yet, but I was able to play around with it last night (using similar dates) & thought it looked pretty cool.

I'm trying to read this entire thread to get my questions answered.

Yes you are misunderstanding the FP Rules.

You can get another FP as soon as the window opens up on the one you previously picked up or 2 hours which ever is sooner.

So since the vast majority of DHS guests get there TSM FPs first, at RnR the FP times won't run out as fast first thing in the morning. Remember all those people that got their TSM FPs can't get another till after the one that have is in its window. So from what you describe, RM is predicting that even at 9:30 am that the FP return time will be 10:30 am.

I found his numbers to be right on the money.

The only time I thought they were going to slip up was on an AK day when we were at the ride on schedule and the RM plan said 10 min wait, but the lit sign said 25 min. Guess what, the actual wait was 10 min. I was blown away by how accurate the numbers were.

Can you please explain what you mean by the "window opens up". Sorry to be an idiot here. Also my ridemax times increased by several minutes for the same date when I ran it last night and this morning for April 21. Is it normal for it to keep changing closer to date?

Jumping in here to help, hope that's OK. Yes, normal for it to keep changing. as far as I know, RideMax tries to stay really up to date.

"Window opens up" means once your first FP is eligible to be used. For example, you get a Dumbo FP at 9 AM, it says to return at 10:30, even before you go use that and even though it's not yet 2 hours since you got it, any time after 10:30 you can get another FP. Hope that makes sense.
