Riddle me this!

Hey buds!!! I give out a hint everyday, how about reciprocating!:p I am totally clueless today! I have not missed pants since returning from WDW, and don't want to start today!

Mickey - I hope things are fine with Lucy today.....

Denise - we all completely enjoyed LOTR too! You are having trouble with your heat??? Cheesh - talk about a bad time of year for THAT!!!! Especially where you are!!! I hope the issue is resolved soon....

Boo'sMom - Challenger must have been such a painful time for you. :( I think that this one still hurts, but, as Snoopy said, we, as a nation, might be a bit distracted and numbed.

Reading back on the thread before posting, I see that many have echoed this sentiment.

I fear as well that people become very casual about tragedy when we find ourselves in the face of so many.....that was one of my greatest fears after September 11th.....EVERYONE rallyed (as we all should have) immediately after the tragedy, and it was marvelous to see the many displays of patriotism every surrounding us. We need to remember these events not ONLY to continue to strengthen our resolve, but to assure our appreciation of the preciousness we are given in the gift each day!

Gina - that was the fairest clue of all. :)

No word yet on which song Erin will dance to in the show. Stay tuned. We HAVE to make a decision this week! :)

well....."have all my friends had fun at plaY"???? a 60's clue....I'm dating myself, for sure!:D

That's a valid point OK, and yours too Diane....they both make sense. Gina, yes, having the kids home helped to bring that immediate sense of "my familyis okay."
I think what really hit home with it from the standpoint of our nation's reaction was when I said to my husband...."our kids will remember where they were...I did.." he said..."no, this is just a blip on the screen for them, so many other things have happened, they won't remember this." I think it is extremely sad we've become so desensitized to tragedy....maybe just a coping mechanism.

On another note...yes Gina...that's what I meant when I saw the parrot on that site...lol..

Gotta get ready...Cain and Abel are arriving this morning...LOL...

OMG...is that Romper Room?????

Congrats to Erin, Bernie. I had to reread everything to see that she took some firsts and thirds! I'm sure you are all quite thrilled!

Flowers??? Did Boo'sMom mention flowers???? Put me on the list!

The rites of passage into adulthood. Innocent awareness becomes jaded, tired in all the constant processing of events. Ah, Snoops, all we talk about is war around here. It rolls around the brain like a marble.....just can't shake it.

Loves the magic, I never noticed your "Man has a dream..." signature before! I sure do miss COP!

I LOVED Romper Room.

I hear you, love the magic. I sometimes wonder about our reaction to a tragedy like this. So many emotions and thoughts come into play, including, I think, a reflection on our own mortality and how we should live our lives.

In the case of 9/11 - understanding that so many innocents were robbed of their lives was so painful and angered us so.

In the case of the shuttle, I know that I wonder about the courage those people had. They surely recognized how complex and dangerous the whole thing was and still they put themselves in that position.

Your point is a good one, I think we should all appreciate each day and moment. And celebrate them all. :)

Does anyone remember Sonny Fox and Wonderama???? Now I know I'm dating myself! LOL LOL LOL

*disclaimer.....nothing to do with a riddle hint. Promise. Unless you're looking yourself straight in the face! :teeth:

I LOVED Romper Room.

Me too....................

But no matter how many times she looked and said "I see...." she never saw me:( I remember being totally upset that I never heard her say Laura.

The Romper Room clue did it for me.......I remember watching it in black & white.....on channel 5 out of Boston. Later, Providence had it's own version but that teacher scared me for some reason.

Observations on the Columbia tragedy. I agree with many people who have already posted. I'm sure that the nation has become numb to tragedy, especially in the wake of 9-11, and 24/7 news coverage can sometimes cause information overload.

I felt more personally connected to the Challenger for several reasons, most importantly that Christa McAuliffe was a civilian. She certainly was aware of the risks but this was not her life's work. The world was watching that launch and her family when the tragedy occurred.

LOL, Lars! I was a little too old for romper room by the time it started! I wondered if there were actually any little ones who watched that show!
