There is so much more going on in the world now too me. I don't know if we have just become numb to it or what but it is kind of scary out there and I am hoping things settle down soon and we can all go on with life without a fear of war. Nothing scares me as much as all these angry people with nothing better to do than decide they want to kill people.

Sounds like a great weekend, OK! We were busy too, but it was not nearly as interesting as yours! WE were sweeping and mopping water that had leaked into the connecting part of the house before they got the water barrier on the roof. We did get to spend the better part of yesterday at the TwinsFest though!

One of our local high schools submitted a science experiment that was accepted and was performed on this mission. It involved studying the effect of weightlessness on an ant colony. The man who gave the initial briefing at NASA came to Syracuse to talk with the kids ahead of the launch. I imagine thisis hitting those kids pretty hard too.

My little Lucy kitty is in the hospital this morning. She had a seizure or something last night and I took her in. I am hoping she will be ok, and that I can bring her home today.

Stephanie-The Challenger was a terrible loss. I'm sure it was very difficult for you having had her as a teacher
I do think you have a point in that the country has become more used to tragedies since Columbine, Oklahoma City and of course 9-11. It is kind of sad to say that we were less sensitive to this shuttle tragedy than the 1st one but I do think there is some truth to that statement.

Boo'sMom....you had a very personal connection to the Columbia. Also, you were all gathered together to watch the event. I was only thankful that this happened on a Saturday when the kids were out of school. Otherwise, I think it would have been traumatic for every child that witnessed it firsthand. At least, that's my take on it.


Does that parrot mean Jimmy Buffet visits???

I have a little different idea to that, Stephanie and Laura. I think perhaps folks get more jaded because of the grandstanding that is done on the news broadcasts. 24 hour coverage by CNN etc. can do that!
