I heard from Boo'sMom on email. She has a power outage this morning, and was concerned that backup power would not be on much longer. That is why I decided to do the late riddle.

Yesterday's Riddle:

Name an English word of more than 2 letters that both begins and ends with the letters 'he' (in that order). (Actually, there are two possible correct answers -- but "hehe" is not an acceptable solution.)

headache and heartache are the 2 acceptable answers to this riddle

And thank YOU for doing it yesterday, Lars! I will need help again next week as the final logs arrive on Tuesday and will probably take until Friday to get up. I would like to not have to think about the riddle on Tuesday for sure. Any volunteers?

Things went very well with the hot lunch etc, yesterday and all the visitors we had to the site. It was very cold in the morning (1 above), but was nice and sunny and no wind, so it wasn't bad at all. Things got slowed down in the log set though. First they had trouble with the first support beam for the second floor, and that took an hour and a half to correct. Then there were a couple rows of logs missing and a bunch from the upper part of the house were there instead. They had to just unload them onto the ground so the truck could leave. It still made progress, but not as much as they had hoped.

Kids are home again today because of snow. They are taking days out of Christmas break to make up for them. And there is no spring break this year. Yuck!

We get our cable modem installed today for the internet. YAHOO!!

Good Morning !!

Had about 10 inches of snow yesterday .... took me 3 hours to drive home (normally an hour drive) ....... so I decided to call Florida and make plans for while I'm there the end of January ...
I booked the Backstage Magic Tour and got tickets for Cirque du Soleil ...... I'm getting excited - this trip is really starting to take shape !!

Diane, once the logs are in place, what has to be done inside? Are the walls left rough? Do interior walls have to be built. And how are the pipes and wiring installed. Inquiring minds want to know.

To answer you questions, Breezy....
The walls will remain as they look in the pics, but will be cleaned and treated with a clear finish that is a UV protectant on the inside and protectant plus a little color on the outside. It will be stained a honey color on the outside, so it will be just a little brighter and darker than it looks now. There will be a few framed walls inside too. Wiring etc. goes through the floor and into the bottom round of logs. Any wiring done for ceiling fixtures etc. comes from the top down. We are having in floor radiant heat, and those tubes are already in the floor on the main part of the house. They will be imbedded in the concrete on the basement walkout level. We will have radiant heat both on the inside and outside of the kennel as well.
