Riddle me this, the Friday edition!

Even thought I voted for math riddles, there was only one riddle today that I could answer. PM sent.

Today is Pi Day (3.14....). DS's math class is celebrating. I baked a chocolate chip cookie pi for him to take to school today. DD did the same thing 2 years ago when she had the same teacher for math.

My letter to the editor was published today. And there was a follow-up article in the paper about resonses to the first article. DD was quoted. A reporter called the house Wednesday and talked to her. When the article gets posted on the newspapaers website I will try to link to it on RMC.

LK, I know what you mean. We have a split rail fence around our yard. During a hurricane, a tree fell on it and took out several sections. It was nearly impossiblle to get anyone to come out and make an estimate. They would make an appt and then not show. Then when I did get an esti,ate I couldn't get anyone out to complete the work. And try to get a small repair done on your house.

Well, I looked closely at the riddle, and BAM, there it was!

Hey, my DH does carpet, vinyl tile, sheet vinyl and soon laminate florring installations. For a house, he always does a written estimate with in a couple of days, what ever he and the homeowner decide on. For businesses, same deal. We are in the business of making money, a lot of contractors don't like small jobs, but since DH works alone, he loves them. He would come out there to do yours, but his expenses have to be part of the price, so I hope you finde someone local, LK.

Good morning riddlers!

Definitely been there with the contractors who either DON'T show up, WON'T call you back, and DON'T provide written estimates! YIKES! What is with that!? We are TRYING to get someone out to give us an estimate to reroofing our house. Most of them don't even answer their phone, and of those that have an answering machine - only one returned the call. He was going to call back to make an appointment to come look and give us an estimate.... that was a week ago... he has not called back. Honest... we will pay! LOL!

Well.... I thought of egg yesterday and never sent it in... because like many other folks here I figured if it could hatch and walk away in three days - it definitely had meat and bones by that point. NOT to mention, that you can not just stick a fertilized egg on a shelf and have it hatched. It must be at a proper incubation temperature - and would require some heat (not too hot or too cold) to actually finish incubating! The moral of this story - is to send all the answers that jump into your head... and do not OVER ANALYZE the riddle! LOL!

Well... I answered TWO of the riddle selections today. It looks like I could work on some alternate answers for one of them too - based on all the daily doubles and hat tricks and grand slams that have been being doled out. I figure doing TWO of the riddles offered up was impressive enough though... so I may just be content with that.

Luckily for us, our BIL is our general contractor, and he truly is an honest person and a perfectionist to boot! I wouldn't have anyone else work on our addition but him. Unfortunately, he doesn't install flooring and we found our flooring at a place other than the place he usually works with. I had gone ahead and ordered everything, never realizing it would be this difficult to find someone to simply install it. DH and my friend's DH were all set to lay the tile in the new bathroom this past Saturday, but then my friend had her twins a few weeks early the day before! I kidded her DH that if he really didn't want to help us out, he didn't have to go those extremes! Maybe if a few weeks go by and we still can't find anyone things will have settled down somewhat in their house and he can try it again.

Just stopping in to say today's riddle/s is/are too complex to even think about. Hope everyone has a great weekend, sounds like spring in the air for most of the country. Should be a lot of melting snow, watch for those puddles when you walk.

Diane - I don't know how you can stand building a whole house. I can't handle a simple addition! I know the end result will be worth it, but it is very frustrating.

Just multiply that frustration by 100, and I think you will have it! It took 3 weeks to get the FIRST quote for cabinets. It seems reasonable, so I am not even going to go get another! I don't really want to wait another 3 weeks! We are on the 3rd fireplace estimate!

Hi there!

I must apologize for not being here for the math riddle vote -- I'd definitely have voted against them if they were like today's riddle! But I think I found one I could figure out.

Our Bradford Pears and forsythia are in full bloom, and the Yoshino cherries are just getting started. The dogwoods will be blooming in another week or so. So if you're still under the snow, have faith! Spring is definitely on the way!
