Just stopping in before I go to bed. I am SOOO sleepy. Don't know why, I haven't been out of the house in 2 days.

See you in the morning.

Hi All!
I just got home. Went to see "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" with my girlfriends. I LOVED it:D Of course I could watch Matthew McConaughey read the phone book for 2 hours and be perfectly happy!! It was a really cute & funny movie!

E!-I'm glad the snow finally stopped for you.

I'm thinking this chat thread has turned into a fantasy thread based on the pics I'm seeing!

okay okay....leave you guys alone for a minute...sheesh...

Guess the popular vote is we need to add John and the Thong back into the title.....open for suggestions.

Sandi...I'm hoping to still sneak in Riddlecon 1A before we go....
Baboo...we tent camp too....where are you guys staying??

It's amazing...my summer is all planned and it's still snowing out.
About 12 inches now...of course school is cancelled....so little darlings will be home all day......with no TV......

Two hour delay here. It looks like we got another 2 to 3 inches overnight, but that should be it.

Wow Stephanie - home all day and no TV this week. That could be a challenge! For some reason, when I force my two to shut the TV off and find something else to do, usually they fight less. Yesterday, they took the comforters and blankets off of their beds and dragged everything into our bedroom and made a tent camp. It was a mess in there, but they had fun and got it all cleaned up later!

Laura - you think this has turned into a fantasy thread? Here's a picture of my DH: talk about a fantasy! ***sigh***

My company has 2 large offices in RI.....located 1-2 miles apart. The larger one is a "backshop"....doing paperwork and processing....not that much direct customer contact. They're located on a 4-lane "main" road.

The second is a call center so naturally the jobs there involve talking with customers. It is located off that main road on what could be considered a country road....2 lanes, narrow and sometimes winding.

The backshop was told their office wouldn't open until 9:30 but the call center was told to report at normal times, which means 8 a.m. for some. There is a second call center on Oklahoma that opened as usual so the phones are being answered but the wait may be longer than usual.

The state has plowed highways and main roads....many neighborhood streets are still snow-covered. The average snowfall in the state was 18-24 inches so along with shoveling driveways people had to deal with the aftermath of plows as well.

Why should one office be treated different than the other? If you were a customer calling, and heard a recording stating opening was delayed due to the blizzard in the northeast would you be "mad" at the company for not being there?

Thanks for sharing thoughts!

Seems to me the same rules should apply to each. If I called somewhere and knew it was in an area hit by the blizzard, I wouldn't complain about a wait.

I am in a bit of the same situation. I work in home health care. The office is right on a main state road. They are open and say we should make visits. Of course, the side roads where the patients live are still unplowed. I am staying home.

I would be understanding due to the severe nature of this storm. It doesn't take much to put a recording on your phone lines describing the situation. I would be highly pissed off if I worked in customer service and was expected to be there at 8 am and the roads to get there were dangerous!

If anything, Gail - I'd think that your office would be allowed in LATER, due to road conditions! I can see it being an issue if you didn't have that other call center in Oklahoma, but jeez louise, they should be looking out for you!

I watched We Were Soldiers last night. Not bad, Mel was very good in it and the military action was very engaging. The movie really tried to show the indifference shown in this country toward returning Vietnam Vets, and fell just a bit short there. A very emotional movie none-the-less....

I appreciate your opinions everyone, thanks! One more minor observation........what makes shoveling any easier for those in the call center....ie. how can they be expected to get out faster than the others!!!

There....enough said. I'm finally making breakfast for DH.....who's been shoveling since 6 a.m.! I didn't help too much today.

I just finished calling all of my patients. They were all understanding and none of them expected me to come out. I think for some of them, as they are mostly elderly, they were glad just to get a phone call. Called my mom too, to check on her.

Good deeds done. On with the snow day party.

One of the local radio stations is having a contest where you can win a WDW trip for 2. You have to listen for the character of the day, and then be the first caller who can tell them who the character is. All of the winners for the week are entered into the drawing. I think they are giving away a trip a week for 4 weeks. I hope I win!!!:Pinkbounc

Cool!!! Since you can't take just one kid....and you certainly can't take DH because someone has to take care of the kids....if you win I think you should take me!!!

Okay - you're first on my list! I just missed it for this hour.

We had quite a lucky streak last summer on another radio station. You listened for the song of the day and entered it on their website and built up points. You could spend your points on different things. The trick was you had to click on the "buy" button on the instant second they released the prize. One week, I won 2 airline tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. The following week, I won 2 more tickets under DH's login! Since we already had our trip for WDW planned, we decided to go to San Diego. We visited the zoo, Wild Animal Park, and Legoland. It is a beautiful city. Later in the summer, DH was able to win a portable TV/DVD player for the van on the same contest. Needless to say, they shut down that whole contest at the end of the summer.

A co-worker has now gotten me hooked on call-in contests. She wins stuff all of the time. Just this morning, she won 4 passes to the movies. Since I didn't win the WDW contest today, I am now switching stations to try and win $500 between 4 and 5 pm.

just for the record...

IT'S STILL SNOWING IN NH

just thought you'd want to know.

Still flurrying here but the roads are plowed. We went sledding for about an hour......and after shoveling earlier, I'm pooped!!!

Well, it's official. No school here tomorrow. Many school systems have already announced they will be closed again Wednesday.

I MUST go to work tomorrow though. I am getting used to staying home.
